you do realize you’ve totally demotivated everyone with helping you by posting 6 times in a row?
In reply to: Avatar Crop ProblemSame problem.. WP Multisite with the latest version of BuddyPress.. I will look up the exact javascript error and report back!
In reply to: Latest Posts on home pageI think you should go to your admin and select:
Settings > Reading > Show latest posts on Frontpage
That should do the trick!

In reply to: CometChat – Facebook style chat for BuddyPressThis looks great @cometchat! Could you please tell me something about the scalabity of the product? How much resources does it take, and are there site who have it set up to deal with thousands of users? Thanks in advance

In reply to: a script to allow site admins to join any groupGood stuff.. thanks!
Peter I don’t know if you’ve noticed but there are 3 Core Developers working on BuddyPress and a huge bunch of other developers spending time on improving it.. This thread is about the redesign so why you need to bring up all this b.s is beyond my ability to comprehend.
About the redesign:
I’m trying my best to get used to it, I feel kinda lost.. It feels “wrong” to me, and I can’t put my finger on it.. While the old site/forum was simple, it gave me a quick overview of what happened when I was gone, and now I’m constantly getting the feeling that I’m missing something.. Like there’s stuff happening elsewhere (in the Activity stream etc) which I’m missing..
My suggestion would be use the power of the activity stream, and the group forums and make a layout were you split them in half.. The activity stream on the left, and the recent forum topics on the right.. this way you’ll get an complete overview of what happening from the “Community” section..
In reply to: BuddyPress.org’s Unified Search – How can I get it?@sBrajesh could you also post your CSS code for this (on Pastebin)? Then I can modify it for the BP-Default theme, and post it here tomorrow morning (it’s night here).
In reply to: BuddyPress.org’s Unified Search – How can I get it?Woow! Great @sbrajesh! Just got it working but the design itself is a bit messed up.. but I’ll try to take a look at it tomorrow, and post the results and layout improvements here.. thanks for the tutorial!
In reply to: Shabushabu.euThis is better! Well done Boris
In reply to: BuddyPress MultilingualGreat.. Looking forward to it
In reply to: COMING IN FROM NING1) This is indeed something that only comes with WPMU.. But WordPress 3.0 is almost ready and multi-networks (read=user blogs) are a option in 3.0.. So you might enable this feature for your community as soon as WP 3.0 is released.
2) You can add youtube videos into the activity stream by using the oEmbed Plugin created by Ray. https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/oembed-for-buddypress/. Simply copy and paste the URL to the video into an Status Update, Reply or Blog Comment, and it’s gets embedded into the stream. Awesome!
3) Currently you have two options for this:
keep an eye on this topic: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/bp-album-new-features-requests-and-discussion. It’s an album plugin which is shaping up nicely and offers albums for your users.
or check out http://www.buddydev.com which offers BP-Gallery. A media plugin which allows the creation of video, pictures and audio galleries. It’s currently almost in it’s final stages, but if you would like to use it you need to have a paid subscription.
I hope you enjoy BuddyPress
In reply to: BP Xtra SignupGreat plugin, and just what I was looking for! I only have one suggestion which I would really like to see:
Allow the member to be subscribed to a different MailChimp list based on selection of a certain signup field.
For example..
On Signup:
Where are you from?
(dropdown selection box) “Netherlands”
After signup the user get’s added to my MailChimp list: Netherlands. This allows me to target all my users at once or target only a certain List of my entire userbase. Since I’m dealing with different languages it’s an important feature for my community. This can be achieved with the MailChimp API: http://www.mailchimp.com/api/. Not sure how much time this feature would cost, but I’m happy to pay something for it.. If others are interested in this as well, post it here please
In reply to: Shabushabu.euJust signed up for your site Boris, looks promising! Some feedback:
The header is too big
.. It’s cool as a frontpage introduction, but after while the scrolling starts to be a pain.. A good solution would be:a: only use the header on the front page and on other pages cut of 285px (I measured it
) so you’ll only see the logo and the sign at the rightb: make some fancy jquery goodness which allows you to fold in the header to a smaller size.. Check out this site who does this: http://cureuphoria.com/
The rest of the site looks good, no big problems there.. It might be cool to add the BP related stuff to the menu as well, but I’m not sure if that’s easy to do with the sprites menu you’re using at the moment
In reply to: Ning.com Migration Tool (NMT)Not to be rude or anything Aaron.. but this is the first time you’ve been here and imo it for one reason only: Promotion and SEO purposes.. Google for: Ning Migration BuddyPress and this is the #1 hit.. Convenient
If you were around daily it would not be strange, but I’ve never seen you around until there was a chance to make some money..
In reply to: Donate to the BuddyPress project? No you can’t donate to the project itself.. BUT you can of course donate to plugin developers, and by doing this you’re keeping the BP development community healthy
You can always install bp later when you have your site up and running, so you can do both. But imo its better to use buddypress from the start because it soul purpose is to built a community with and its a great way to let your members and blog owners interact.. So I include it from the start
Sounds like a plan.. It’s a matter of weeks until WP 3.0 is out, and BuddyPress will be compatible from day 1, so you might want to launch the site when WP 3.0 is out with BuddyPress from the start! Good luck!
to answer both of your final questions: Yes and Yes!
Haha yeah I’m also kinda combining both approaches, and approaching good developer personally
.. But it’s always good to show your interest to see something developed in public
Is there anyone who would like to develop this for me? I’m willing to spend some money on this feature
In reply to: bp-events plugin ported to 1.2.x ?After you activate the plugin you get a white screen.. then activate the lines you just uncommented/removed again.. then it should be activated and working
In reply to: bp-events plugin ported to 1.2.x ?That’s great news Sven! I’m really looking forward to it.. this version works, but it’s simply a mod to get it running on 1.2, and seriously lacks in CSS/Design/1.2+ features we’ve come to expect
In reply to: bp-events plugin ported to 1.2.x ?Ok.. I failed to follow the instructions:
1: Before activating the plugin, comment out in the bp-events.php (plugin directory):
* 21-24 row (require..)
2: Activate the plugin
3: You receive the error message You receive the error message
4: Uncomment the lines of paragraph 1, and refresh the page
Now it does work! But I get page not found errors for my child theme.. I’ll look into that

edit: that problem is now solved.. don’t know why it did not work earlier but I’ve moved the “events” folder to both the default theme and my child theme root, and it appears to work.. It still requires a lot of work, but it’s something!
In reply to: bp-events plugin ported to 1.2.x ?Tried to install the plugin but I get a fatal error when activating.. d’oh!!
