    No plugins like this for BP (atm?)

    There’s no end user or developer documentation yet.

    No. Better search is something planned for the future. This would be a really useful contribution or perhaps addon if you had the time and skill to come up with something generic and awesome.

    The IRC channel is really used for developer discussion. 99% of the time support issues like this aren’t dealt with on IRC.

    The best way is for you to duplicate your database and site, and perform an upgrade using the current trunk, and see what issues you run into. This is also needed for valuable testing / bug reporting as necessary.

    XML-RPC BBPress has been removed, totally. Again, install a test installation of trunk – on the Forums Setup page of the admin menu, there’s an option to either set up a new installation or to use an existing database.

    I tried this for the first time last weekend, and setting up a new forum installation was as easy as pressing one button – it’s amazing.

    The upgrade button I haven’t tried yet, but it requires you to put in a path for your existing BBPress bb-config.php file. As long as you are using the latest version of BBPress, I can’t think of any issues – possibilities are the server not being able to read the files in a different folder, but if your server is working with the XML-RPC at the moment, then that’s not going to be an issue.

    So, “how would that work?” AWESOMELY.

    r-a-y; that’s a question for a new topic. If I could move posts I’d start one for you, but I can’t, so if you make a new thread I’ll repost this response into it later…

    I’m closing this thread as people keep resurrecting it every month or so without any real contribution, and the most recent post is a new question and best to go in a new thread.

    Like I said, at this question on the WPMU forums / search on the WPMU forums.

    Back when BP was pre-beta, I used to use the following code on a test installation. I post it here just to try to counteract this notion that it is “impossible” to change the welcome text email. Please note I am not supporting this code and I’m not even saying that it will still work. YMMV.

    Original posters:

    a) Yes, but please discuss this on https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/modified-mail-message-registration.

    b) Yes I believe so, but this is a WPMU question so you are best searching on the WPMU forums

    c) Yes, it’s in the theme files. You can edit these at the moment and it might be easier to do in BP 1.1/trunk.

    This is not only resurrecting a 4 month old thread – of which you yourself have found several duplicates – this is more a WPMU question that BP. Use https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/modified-mail-message-registration for discussion on this area, i’m closing this thread.

    If you can wait maybe a couple of weeks to a month for BuddyPress 1.1, you’ll be glad to learn that BuddyPress 1.1. won’t use XMLRPC anymore.

    Different databases, and you should be fine.

    I don’t think an offical gallery component is even on the drawing board yet.

    Just to give a heads-up, after some thought, the next version of Achievements released will be for BuddyPress v1.1, so I have to wait for 1.1 to come out first.

    Not sure how much time that gives me so don’t want to make any promises about new features :)

    Reporting bugs in BP 1.0 is a waste of time. You need to get a copy of your site on BP 1.0.3 and see if the problems still occur because of the huge number of changes between these versions.

    Just use the $user_id variable, as provided in the function argument…

    I think if you find a basic but good Paypal plugin for WordPress, that’s half the battle. The API is a bit awkward to work with (in my experience).

    Have you talked to the WP e-commerce guys (http://twitter.com/danmilward) about bringing e-commerce into BuddyPress as a group plugin? I saw Dan present at Wordcamp UK and he seems quite a friendly chappy.

    You could use that code I had earlier as a starting point. For your first bullet, you’d hook into whatever action is called once a profile has been updated, and then you’d have to ascertain how much of the profile was completed, probably by doing a number of SQL queries.

    And for the second, just use the account activation hooks. Should be as easy as doing something like $meta[‘field_x’] where x = the profile field ID from the database.

    Version 1.1. Think I”ve just noticed a minor CSS glitch so might be a tiny-winy update release at the end of the day ;)

    @djpaul

    It’s a bug. It might be https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/909.

    @djpaul

    Also when I put in the $user_id and $password arguments I got the error messages about missing arguments.

    add_action( ‘wpmu_activate_user’, ‘synchro_wp_usermeta’, 10, 3)

    @djpaul

    Keymaster

    add_action( 'wpmu_activate_user', 'synchro_wp_usermeta', 10, 3);

    function synchro_wp_usermeta( $user_id, $password, $meta ) { ... }

    You’re also going to need to hook into the ‘wpmu_activate_blog’ action, as activate_user is not called when the user chooses to create a blog on registration.

    @djpaul

    Keymaster

    Hey, the entire best way to get a response from me is to give my plugins some advertising!

    Let’s see. Those thingies are called arguments. As you have probably figured out, ‘wpmu_activate_user’ action is called from wpmu-functions.php line 1208 (on my development server files, at least).

    First two arguments are obvious. When an account is registered, a new records is made in the wp_signups database table. There is a column called $meta, which is a seralized PHP array. $meta as in the wpmu_activate_user argument, is the unseralized version of that array for the user that has just activated his/her account.

    On one of my test users, it seems to contains keys: field_1, xprofile_fields_ids (not sure), avatar_image_resized (bool) and avatar_image_original (bool).

    So as you’ve suggested above, I reckon you can just use $meta[‘field_1’]. Let us know!

    EDIT: the code you’ve pasted above. You’ll need to have all three arguments, even if you don’t want to use them all. You can miss out ones AFTER the one you want, but you can’t miss anything out before the one you wish to use.

    You can use any WordPress theme for the home/blog theme, yes. You’d only need a customised or Buddypress-specific theme for the member pages.

    It is not impossible and achieveable with a little code
