If you don’t have dev resources to track it down and if the site isn’t on GitHub publicly or something, it’s going to be veeeeery difficult to come up with any meaningful suggestions where to look. I’m not sure where to start.
In reply to: PLEASE HELP: No confirmation emailsExactly. The first thing you want to do @phound1 is verify if WordPress sends its own emails. An easy example is the comment moderation notification email. If it does not work, obviously fixing that is the first step. Let us know, we’ll try to point you in the right directions.
I think there’s a filter to add something to the drop-down box, but the more complex part is updating (I think) the javascript and back-end code to handle your new type. I don’t have an hour to look into this at the moment. I’m hoping someone comes along with an example or a code snippet or a link to another plugin that does this.
Second issue – any chance of a screenshot, please?
I needed the link to your pastebin… but it sounds like you’ve done the same sort of testing with the paragraphs (etc) that I was going to do.
I’m going to check out the media extraction behaviour from the activity stream because I think there’s potential for an odd situation occurring due to a fault in the logic in the relevant bit of code, so I’m going to check that out when I get some time.
In reply to: BuddyPress too many redirects – URGENTI see your site has a HTTP Basic Auth. user/password, so I can’t track down down where it’s redirecting to/from.
How exactly did this problem occur? If you have the site going live in a couple of days (hopefully), then it must have been working to get it ready, so what did you do to break this?
Please also let us know if you’re running WordPress multisite or not.
On any decent server config, warnings and errors will not be shown on screen in production environments. Instead, it’ll be written to a log file. So you will still have the problem.
Try switching back to your real theme (so the warning comes back), and then disable plugins one-at-a-time. See if you can figure out if it’s a combination of one plugin and your theme causing the problem.
Is this a custom theme you wrote? Or did you buy from somewhere? Are BuddyPress templates defined in the theme (it’d be in
your_theme/buddypress/subfolder)? If it’s isolated to only your theme and not your theme+plugins, you’re going to have to debug through the members templates and figure it out.In reply to: @mentions post to friend’s wall like FBBuddyPress doesn’t have a wall feature like how you think it does. You’ll need to check out a Wall plugin for BuddyPress, maybe http://www.buddyboss.com/product/buddyboss-wall/
Can you copy/paste the content of the blog post to pastebin.com or somewhere, to share it with is?
The logic is: if the post is 3 paragraphs or less, and it has an embed, it should use the embed in the summary shown in the activity stream.
If more than 3 paragraphs, and an image exists (either a featured image, gallery, or inline
imgtag), it’ll use that.If more than 3 paragraphs and no image…. I think it will show nothing, it looks like an oversight in the code.
I haven’t seen this on my dev site, and I don’t think we’ve had reports of this, so… as it’s staging, please can you switch the theme temporarily to a default WordPress theme, like twenty-twelve (etc) — and then visit this same URL again and see if the warning is still being printed or not?
I suspect it’s something in your theme, maybe one of the templates, or some customisation hooked into the members loop, but switching the theme is an easy way to start figuring out possible causes.
In reply to: Can’t type in Multi-Line Text Area FieldsIt’ll be something specific to your theme/site. Could be some odd Javascript, odd CSS. Impossible to tell unless your site is public for someone to take a look at.
I’d look at increasing performance generally rather than specifically focusing on trying to block search engines.
Like… I don’t know what other plugins or themes you are running, or how well they are written, nor anything about your hosts’ performance, but you need to look into those. I’d also look at making sure you have an object cache available and configured for WordPress if there isn’t already.

In reply to: To post in an open group without joining itIf you post in a Public Group that you aren’t a member of, then you are automatically added to the Group.
I believe the only exception for this is site administrators.
In reply to: User dashboard url@missmad If you wanted to create a link to go to a specific screen on the logged-in user’s profile, use
http://buddypress.dev/members/me/profile/Obviously swap in your actual domain. Note the
members/me/bit — that’s the magic part. If that’s found, it redirects to the logged-in user’s profile following whatever comes after it in the URL.In reply to: New Member Emails Not SendingDo other emails sent from your site, by WordPress, work? For example, comment moderation notifications, and so on.
Please also provide a list of plugins active.
In reply to: Assign buddypress output to a stringIn reply to: Buddypress Email tamplate for all the wp emailThat might work, though the BuddyPress email template has configurable colours etc, so you’d need to fill those in inside the HTML.
You can get the HTML template from https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/trunk/src/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/assets/emails/single-bp-email.php
In reply to: [Resolved] Add more option in Email NotificationNice work!
In reply to: Not receiving verification emailsAre you getting ANY emails from WordPress? For example, comment moderation/approval notices.
If you are not, then this is a general WordPress problem and you will get better help quicker by 1) contacting your web host for support and 2) posting on the wordpress.org support forums.
In reply to: [Resolved] Add more option in Email NotificationHi @kmligue
Yes, but not elegantly. This screen is pretty old and we’ve recently been discussing how to improve it, and building out an API for this was suggested.
What you should do is hook to the
bp_notification_settingsaction, and output the HTML template yourself. Seegroups_screen_notification_settings()for an example. In reply to: Buddypress Email tamplate for all the wp emailNot out-of-the-box, no, sorry! Speaking from experience, it might be possible for someone to write a plugin to do this, but I think it would be extremely complex because WordPress’ email system is just terrible.
In reply to: Buddypress not sending activation emailsWhich theme did you upgrade? From what version to what version?
In reply to: problem with confirmation codeYou get what you pay for.
I’m not sure if it’s server configuration or something with Mailgun that is messing with the email *content*.
In Settings > Mailgun, inside wp-admin, what’s the value of “use HTTP API”? Yes or no?
In reply to: WP Multisite + BuddyPressBuddyPress is always global to the whole network on multisite.
If you want to run multiple, separate BuddyPresses on a *multisite*, what you actually want is to set up WordPress multi-network (something like https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-multi-network/).
This is actually complicated, and if you do not need to share users between your BuddyPresses, I’d suggest setting up multiple standalone regular WordPresses (or standalone multisites).
In reply to: No Fields On Registration Page After InstallingI don’t know. Which plugins are you using?
