    Where did you paste the code? It should go in your theme’s functions.php file.

    Hi @tatakatte

    Try this:

    function my_login_redirect() {
        if ( is_user_logged_in() && bp_is_register_page() )
            bp_core_redirect( home_url() . '/stream/' );
    }
    add_action( 'template_redirect', 'my_login_redirect' );

    Without going to Settings > BuddyPress, just go to Pages. It’s about the 4th link in your admin area (example.com/wp-admin). Then check to see if the pages have been created.

    Hi @timothylegg

    But when I follow the path of Settings -> BuddyPress and then click the Pages tab, I get a page where I associate a WordPress page with each BuddyPress component directory. When I click on ‘View’ for either of the ‘Members’, ‘Activity’, or ‘Groups’, I get a 404 page.

    Check if the members, activity and groups pages are actually created by going to your admin area and then clicking on Pages

    Try searching for bp_core_redirect here in the forums. The topic has come up many times in the past. You just add your redirect function to your theme’s functions.php file, making sure you’ve hooked it to the init action

    If you need something done immediately then feel free to check out the BP Jobs Forum where you can hire the skills of a developer. Alternatively, BuddyPress has lots of great stuff in the pipeline (coded by volunteer developers) so if you wait for it you’ll get all that for free.

    Hopefully this info helps you.

    You’ll need global $wpdb;

    I noticed you mentioned this, I think it’s a great area to look at going forward and it’s clear enhancements can be made. I’ll be interested to hear how you get on in future discussions

    When in doubt, back up your database! You’ve probably heard that lots of times but in situations like this where the outcome is uncertain, it is definitely worth being prudent.

    searched a bit and apparently, the word on the forum-street is: there is no way to delete PM except through the DB. is that still true?

    Are you referring to an individual private message, or a whole thread? There should definitely be a way to delete an entire thread via the front-end. It will depend on your theme but by default, there should be a delete button available.

    So if you want to edit also the headers and/or attachments you have to edit the BP core file adding the parameters and the corresponding filters

    There is a way around that (you don’t have to edit core files).

    Step 1: Filter bp_core_signup_send_validation_email_to so the default activation email isn’t sent

    function filter_bp_core_signup_send_validation_email_to( $user_email, $user_id ) {
        $user_email = '';
        return $user_email;
    }
    add_filter( 'bp_core_signup_send_validation_email_to', 'filter_bp_core_signup_send_validation_email_to', 10, 2 );

    Step 2: Send your own activation email

    function my_custom_activation_email( $subject, $message, $user_id, $user_email, $key ) {
        // Create your $headers and $attachments here

        // Send the email.
        wp_mail( $user_email, $subject, $message, $headers, $attachments );
    }
    add_action( 'bp_core_sent_user_validation_email', 'my_custom_activation_email', 10, 5 );

    Notes: I haven’t tested

    Even though Jetpack and BuddyPress and both projects under the WordPress ‘umbrella’, they are separate plugins and haven’t been designed to work in that way. That said, both should always be compatible. For example, if you find something stops working as a result of the plugins being installed together and conflicting then you could file a bug report.

    Hi @christoph744

    I’m sure there is a way to filter the members loop via BuddyPress but if you want a WordPress approach then check out the WP_User_Query class. Assuming that s2member uses custom fields to distinguish members (I may be wrong on that) you’d want to look at using the Custom Field Parameters

    Hi @jhvaletaolcom

    You can’t do this through BuddyPress itself, but there may be a plugin that does it for you. Take a look on the WordPress Plugin Directory to see if anything is available.

    Hi @disha76

    I have installed Jetpack Like. But when a blog post is Liked / favorited it does not show in my BP Favorit list.

    As far as I know, Jetpack Likes apply to blog posts only and are completely unrelated to BuddyPress favorites. If you ‘like’ something via Jetpack, then that’s separate to any ‘favoriting’ that you do via BuddyPress.

    Another problem with Jetpack Like is it asks my blog visitors or members to register at wordpress.com compulsarily. Am I missing something?

    I’m not aware of the specifics of Jetpack Likes, but you could try taking a look on their support page. I do believe they have an option to contact someone in their support team:

    Hi @florangelie

    Try contacting the author of your theme letting them know there’s a problem. Hopefully they’ll release an update fixing the issue.

    Hi @aimkbe

    I’m not entirely sure this is possible. The navigation is set up in bp-activity-loader.php. See here. There seems to be nothing in the setup_nav() method to allow for conditionally displaying the tab.

    It doesn’t work for me, perhaps because I’m using gravity forms for user registration.

    That could be why. There’s no reason @shanebp’s solution won’t work on a default BuddyPress install

    To get the info separately (first name and then last name) you’d have to a) query the database using MySQL or b) see if BuddyPress has functions to do this for you.

    Regarding b, I’m not sure if there is anything like that available. Perhaps someone else here will know?

    Ticket 6057 looks as though it’s being actively investigated. My advice is to give the core team time to develop a patch and then perhaps help test once something becomes available.

    Hi @style960

    How do you suggest notifications be improved? If you think they are seriously flawed, then you could open a Trac ticket with your observations.

    How exactly you get the first and last name variables depends on the context in which you’re using the link. It’s important to state, the variables aren’t always available.

    Some examples, when the user clicks submit, you could access the first name and last name server side via $_POST variables. $_POST['field_1'] for first name and $_POST['field_15'] for last name (according to your registration form markup). Alternatively, after the information has been saved to the database, you’ll be able to access the member’s first and last name via functions made available by BP such as bp_core_get_user_displayname()

    Hope this helps

    I just wanted to see the code you linked to. I try to avoid visiting bit.ly links when posted in forums as who knows what lives there 🙂

    Where abouts are you using the link you’re trying to create?
