Hi @julia_b
To my knowledge there isn’t anything like that available. Try searching the WP Plugin Directory. Else, if you’re good with code, something like this can be accomplished using regular expressions
All of that said, forums questions are better asked over at bbPress. You may have more luck there.
You can check that with
bp_is_register_page(). Thinking about it, you’ll need logged out users to also have access to the activation page so that they can activate their account. You can usebp_is_activation_page()for that. So, the function becomes:function my_redirecter() { if ( ! is_user_logged_in() && ! bp_is_register_page() && ! bp_is_activation_page() ) { wp_redirect( home_url() . '/login/' ); exit(); } } add_action( 'init', 'my_redirecter' );Regarding the redirect, I’m not sure if there is a plugin but you can add this to your theme’s functions.php file:
function my_redirecter() { if ( ! is_user_logged_in() ) { wp_redirect( home_url() . '/login/' ); exit(); } } add_action( 'init', 'my_redirecter' );In reply to: [Resolved] Re-install Buddypress TablesIf you follow all of the instructions in that article you should get to the point where you can reinstall.
Hi @bridieamelia,
Try this:
function redirect_members_page() { if ( bp_is_user_profile() && ! bp_is_my_profile() ) { $user = get_userdata( get_current_user_id() ); wp_redirect( home_url() . '/members/' . $user->user_login . '/profile/' ); exit; } } add_action( 'template_redirect', 'redirect_members_page' );In reply to: [Resolved] Add tinymce to Activity Post FormI was going on both my own experience with the editor and the note in the Codex article I referenced above. My own experience wasn’t with the what’s new form so if it’s working for the what’s new form then completely disregard what I said above 🙂
Edit: And you’re right about BuddyPress JavaScript needing the
#whats-newselector. I can see it’s used a couple of times inside buddypress.js.In reply to: [Resolved] Add tinymce to Activity Post FormIn reply to: Cloudflare with buddypressI was wondering what Rocket Loader was too! I did a little bit of digging:

In reply to: [Resolved] a few questionsHi @speedys
Searching the Plugin Directory for “custom admin bar” I came across a few plugins that may be of interest:
These may or may not do what you need but feel free to search yourself. There seems to be lots available.
Hi Ian
wpautop()is a function you could use for this. Check out:

Have you tried searching the WP plugin repo for something like “social login”? There are quite a few so you might want to give some a try on a test install to find the one that suits you best
In reply to: [Resolved] When to use BuddyPressHi @jsonb123
…there is a need to have a Members Directory on the site…
BuddyPress does provide a members directory.
They may or may not be able to communicate to other members
BuddyPress has both public and private messaging which could take care of this.
I think you’re doing the right thing by installing and testing it out to see if it’s for you. If not, then no harm done really.
In reply to: 3 Step registration Process in buddypressThere is some related discussion in this Trac ticket but nothing has been implemented yet:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4132The best way to debug this if you’re sure only certain individuals are affected is to find out what’s different about them:
- What role are they?
- Are they activated members?
- Are they marked as a spammer?
- Do they have any friends?
- Anything else?
Some (maybe all) of these won’t be related but with something like this when there isn’t much info to go on, the only way to debug is trial and error.
In reply to: Allow any users to message each other?Hi @godavid33,
Unless things have changed, users should be able to message anybody. Are you sure you’re not using a plugin such as BuddyPress Private Messages for Friends Only?
Hi @jjnw
I haven’t tested your solution but wanted to point out any modifications you make to core files such as buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypresss/members/single/profile.php will be lost on upgrade of the plugin.
There is a way around this! Take a look at the Template Hierarchy article. There isn’t much to it actually. All you need to do is create a folder inside your theme called /buddypress/. All BuddyPress templates you create go inside here.
So for example: Create /wp-content/themes/your-theme/buddypress/members/single/profile.php
Then simply add your code changes to profile.php
In reply to: buddypress.org Forum RegistrationThanks for your feedback @00mark. The buddypress.org site was actually open sourced back in the spring so you can now checkout, review, and patch the code yourself (if you want to). 🙂

Hi @tightflks
Try adding this to your theme’s functions.php file:
function my_signup_redirect( $user_id, $user_login, $user_password, $user_email, $usermeta ) { wp_redirect( home_url() . '/members/' . $user_login . '/profile/edit/group/1/' ); exit(); } add_action( 'bp_core_signup_user', 'my_signup_redirect', 10, 5 );In reply to: [Resolved] Display a membership numberYou could do this:
echo '100' . bp_displayed_user_id();So, if the value of
bp_displayed_user_id()was1, then1001would be echo’d on screen. That said, I don’t see anything wrong in starting at

May I ask why you’re querying by username and not by user ID?
You can simply use the
authorparameter withWP_Query. Using what you linked to as an example:$args = array( 'posts_per_page' => 10, 'paged' => $paged, 'ignore_sticky_posts' => 1, 'author' => $user_id ); $query = new WP_Query( $args );Where
$user_idwill bebp_displayed_user_id()if you’re doing this query on a member’s profile page. Else, it’ll be something else depending on the context in which you’re usingWP_Query.Hi @beenvy2
The colour can be changed via CSS. If you’re not familiar with CSS, take a look at this tutorial to get you started.
Info specific to WordPress can be found in the CSS Codex article.
In reply to: [Resolved] Display a membership numberI wouldn’t advise editing the user IDs in the database as I have no idea what would happen when WordPress wants to allocate an ID to the next newest member and you’ve already used that particular ID.
Which number would you like to start at? If it’s not very big then you could always create some dummy users yourself which would take up the first few IDs? Once real users begin to sign up you can delete the dummy users. To my knowledge, the dummy user IDs won’t get recycled.
In reply to: [Resolved] Can I create a website like facebook?I want only the friends to be shown rather than all the members of the website for the chat option
I’m not very familiar with the plugin’s code. Have you tried asking on the BuddyDev support forum?
In reply to: [Resolved] Can I create a website like facebook? The hosting package you should choose depends on a few things. In general, give consideration to all of these things:
- How many visitors you’ll get
- Is your website’s functionality resource-hungry? Stuff like dynamic image resizing will be a heavy load on the server
- Price of the hosting package
- Hosting support. Does the hosting package come with good technical support?
- Reliability. Is there an uptime guarantee or is it expected that your server will have lots of downtime?
Hopefully that will help you in your research to find a good hosting service.
