Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
…
` or `
..
` to `
// Titles Of Respective BP Page Templates //
`, AND move this to above `
Save files.
@erikahrend that plugin has not been updated since 2011 and therefore would not likely be compatible with BP 1.6
@burntheedges you have two options
a. create only two files – header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php
– the downside is that the titles of the BP pages won’t be like the titles of the rest of your site i.e., not white text on black background
b. revise 16 BP template files – your pages titles will be styled like the rest of the site’s page titles
– downside revising 16 more or less template files when there’s an upgrade.
I would opt for (a) and wait till BP 1.7 where these additions/revisions will be fossils from the past
@jaymeselman Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all source, paste in pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files.
@cleaus thanks for starting a new topic per instruction. Open up your theme’s header.php file, copy all source, paste in pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php files.
Open up your revised activity/index.php, copy all, paste in pastebin.com and post the generated url here.
Just the easy way: Group Settings > uncheck “Enable group creation for all users.”
Two plugins which look current and could help you https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/activate-users-in-buddypress/ and https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-approve-user/
As usual, the following disclaimer applies: backup DB and files before activating plugin
@cleaus please start a new topic for your own theme and I’ll help you there.
code has been updated and posted at http://wp.me/p1I84P-3r
Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your paradise theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
@newbie2011 we have a list of “template-packed” WordPress themes @ https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes
If you need assistance for your current theme, open up your theme’s header.php, copy all code, paste in pastebin.com, click submit and post the generated URI here. Do the same for your theme’s index.php, page.php, sidebar.php and footer.php
@newbie2011 just saying that it would be easier creating two files instead of changing 16 BP template files since you’re fortunate that your theme’s HTML structure allows it. See an example of how it was done for the Evolution Theme. The additions to the header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php would be different in your case, but you get what I mean. Should you decide to go this route, backup your revisions.
@spuntotheratboy I upgraded an installation from BP 1.2.5 / WP 3.0 but I did it step by step, watching up for WP upgrades as well as the BP compatible upgrades.
The first thing I did before the first upgrade was to change to bp-default theme. Then I deactivated the BP-compatible plugins, then the other WP plugins plus renamed bp-custom.php and renamed the mu-plugins folder, then changed to Twenty Ten theme and deactivated BP.
Version by Major version manual (s/FTP) upgrades of WP and BP per compatibility of both and stopping to check the site once in a while to check if BP components are working as expected. For reference re compatibility of WP/BP versions, check out https://codex.buddypress.org/releases/
@sciencefiction68 glad it’s working out for you, good news
Marking this as resolved.
The link to create a group (if group creation is enabled) is available on the groups directory page in bp-default theme. If you want to add the link to your custom theme, the relevant code is in this line https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.6.1/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/index.php#L21
@kissandim you’re welcome. glad you resolved it on your own
I see. Could you check what you have in your Settings > Readings – Front Page? Is it set to default or something else? Set it to default settings. If that doesn’t work, download a copy of BuddyPress to hard driver, unzip and re-upload via FTP to server wp-content/plugins/
@nickyernstsen Pages > Add New, choose the full-width template of your theme, if any, add title of the forum, then post the shortcode `
Re-run Settings > Permalinks to other than default setting. BuddyPress requires pretty permalinks.
== I had to include index.php in the permalink and it is working now. ==
Yeah. I don’t believe that’s going to work with BuddyPress. See how it was resolved for user with Windows server in this thread without resorting to adding index.php
You’re welcome. Marking this as resolved.
Thank you @modemlooper I’m sure many users will be delighted by the addition
@kissandim didn’t get the notification. Just in case you haven’t found the solution yet, just move $profilelink before the $menu, therefore the last three lines should look like this:
$menu = $profilelink . $menu;
return $menu;
}
@cpinsd if you have more than one custom menu in your theme, find out the ‘theme_location’=>’???’ of that specific wp_nav_menu. For example, the location is mamamia then the code would be
// Filter wp_nav_menu() to add profile link in a specific custom menu e.g. mamamia
function mme_nav_menu_profile_link($menu, $args) {
if( is_user_logged_in() && $args->theme_location == 'mamamia' ){
$profilelink = '<li><a href="' . bp_loggedin_user_domain( '/' ) . '">' . __('My Profile', 'yourtheme') . '</a></li>';
$menu = $menu . $profilelink;
}
return $menu;
}
add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'mme_nav_menu_profile_links', 10, 2 );
B. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`
`
with the following for registration/register.php:
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`
Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/pinterest/
D. Copy the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste to your theme’s stylesheet. Adjust to taste.
@sciencefiction68 You need to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your pinterest theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your pinterest theme folder in server, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
`
with the following:
`
Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
` or `
` to `
`, AND move this to above `
