In reply to: Complete Newbie Migrating from NingAddendum: two free ning to buddypress importers
http://ningtobuddypress.com/Import from Ning: Import Ning users to WordPress and BuddyPress
In reply to: Complete Newbie Migrating from NingI would suggest test WordPress/WordPressMU with BuddyPress out of the box at http://testbp.org/ (except header image which was added by Andy). Same username and password as you used in this site.
In reply to: Have acces to url’s without being logged inIf you have WPMU installed, check out free plugin download by dsader at http://wpmudev.org/project/More-Privacy-Options The plugin adds 3 more levels pf privacy. It’s working in my WPMU 2.9.2.

to name a few – Install Firebug, Firefox add-on, to check the classes/ID’s of stream you want to@scwcreative Set permalinks to other than default and save
This could have been caused if you installed WP/MU via simplescripts, fantastico, etc. Delete previous installation including htaccess file generated and wp-config (if MU) and drop database tables.
Do manual upload of WP or MU via FTP or cpanel and install.
Go to dashboard > Settings > Permalinks and run it.
Do FTP/cpanel upload of BuddyPress plugin.
Activate BP plugin and go to BP settings page to enable components. In reply to: Display author profile fields in theme sidebarIf you need a sidebar widget in author’s blog then you could use
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-profile-widget-for-blogs/In reply to: Compose MessageIf you’re not using it yet, download and install Firebug, Firefox add-on, which will help you identify the ID’s and classes associated with the elements you want to reposition in the compose message page and add such in your theme’s style.css. Either that or change the files or just the compose.php within bp-template-pack/templates/members/single/messages/ like you did with the files you changed in template pack.
In reply to: Can’t Form GroupsChange to bp-default theme and see if creation of groups and posting to group forum works.
If that doesn’t work, help us help you.Hast anybody tried to either:
1. copy https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.3/bp-themes/bp-default/registration/register.php
and paste it to home.php or page template and make it static page
0r
2. create home.php or create a page template and add thisedit – tried every which way to post it —- locate_template …. array … registration/registration.php …. true
In reply to: Require Avatar for approving users?Allowing upload of avatar/image file at signup in open registration installs could lead to hacking of your system. I’ve cleaned a site where uploaded .jpg contained hacker scripts instead of real image files.

In reply to: I don’t know where to ask this question O_OYou should ask this question in the Alpha/Beta forum https://wordpress.org/support/forum/12
@Andrea_r has posted relevant info about setting up a Network in WP 3.0
https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
Note : Subdomains work by using wildcard subdomains. You must have this enabled in Apache, and you must also add a wildcard subdomain to your DNS records. Some hosts will not support this, so you may need to ask your webhost before enabling this feature.
Which means you do not and should not add the subdomain physically to your server. The subdomains generated by WPMU and WP 3.0 are virtual subdomains. In reply to: Compose MessageSure, you can manipulate page layouts with CSS. Before going further, what theme are you using? Also – help us help you.
Re CosmicBuddy theme, do you have the upgraded one compatible with BP 1.2?
As for Ines and Skyper themes by milo, the theme support forum is hereThere are also other BP Child themes available that should be compatible with BP 1.2
https://buddypress.org/extend/themes/Caught in the first part of your post: “one root domain + multiple sub-domains with their own BP installs”
Not possible yet, It’s been discussed before and again here https://buddypress.org/community/groups/requests-feedback/forum/topic/multiple-budypress-networks-one-install/
Who knows, possibly after WP 3.0 /BP 1.3, there’ll be a plugin to do so.In reply to: How to post code on bp.org`backtick code`
Happy Birthday blockquote
In addition, if you want the new Admin that you might have added only via “Users > Add New” to have Site Admin privileges, then you must also add said new Admin’s username in “Site Admin > Options > Administration Settings – Site Admin” box and Save options.
In reply to: Multiple Budypress Networks, one install@Andrea_r, I was thinking about the same thing. Perhaps a coding guru who can create a multi-site plugin for WPMU can make a multi-site plugin for BP? (hint, hint)
In reply to: Looking for good photo gallery@techguy,”Then I think he’d get a whole group of people helping to support and test his plugin.”
Yeah he does have a group of people testing his plugin, the premium members who paid for like 3 family-size pizzas over three months, and it has been worth every penny.
@sbrajesh will be releasing the BP Gallery plugin to the public for free when it’s ready to be released. And when he says he will release the plugin for free, I know he will.
