In reply to: BP 1.2.4 – Custom BP_AVATAR_URL change
Thank you @r-a-y. “bookmarked”
Might I suggest tag BP plugins as “buddypress-extend” or “bp-extension” plus “buddypress” just to make the distinction that that the plugin is bp-dependent as opposed to just being bp-friendly.
In reply to: Removing ”Blogs” out of Member navigationsSome thoughts;
– Assuming you don’t want others creating blogs in your installation, and you’re on WPMU, go to Site Admin > Options – under Registration Settings – choose ” User accounts may be registered.”
– Deactivate the Blogs component in admin dashboard – BuddyPress > Components Setup – under Blog Tracking – choose disabled

In reply to: Seeing transparent background – not what I wantYou can change the background color and/or image for wp-admin-bar by adding this to child theme’s style.css e.g.
#wp-admin-bar .padder { background: #000000 url(“../images/black.jpg”) repeat-x ; }
black background with an image file black to repeat horizontally – change/adjust according to tasteIn reply to: WordPress 3.0 new content types@r-a-y you’re right, Saw for myself that BP components are rendered as Pages in test install with WPMU2.9.2/BP1.2.3 upgraded to WP3.0beta2/BP1.3-bleeding.
BP components rendered as Pages is not hot for me when I have 100+ Pages in main site of another test install (as I have in some live sites) and the Edit Pages panel and pagemash panel) have the BP components mixing in with “important information/documentation.” In this scenario, it would be more orderly to go multisite and to create a sub-blog and just to activate BP away from main site.
Of course for installs with BP set up primarily for social networking and with only 4 or 5 “static” pages – About, Contact, etc, no problem with components as Pages.
@anointed – great stuffm thanks for sharing
Animo post_types.In reply to: Where is my original control panel?If you have FTP access, go to wp-content and rename plugins folder to e.g. pluginxx, and rename wp-content/themes/ and rename unplugged theme folder.Then go to dashboard and see if you find your admin’s menu items.
In reply to: adding membersIt was installed directly to the domain with a /city after it. It is not my primary account, but it lists as just the domain name. so in my case it is not 12gates.citywidesites.com, but 12gates.net .It is an add-on domain
Ok, I see that WP and BP have been instaled in http://www.12gates.net/city (btw, do upload an empty index.html to 12gates.net as anyone could see your files/folders there). If you want to allow open registration, go to your admin dashboard’s Settings > General Settings and enable Membership – Anyone can register.

In reply to: Uploading photosHelp us, help you
Also, are you having problems uploading avatars or images in Posts/Pages in general?In reply to: Problems with activation plugin.In reply to: Blog Members Widget Within BuddyPressIn reply to: WordPress 3.0 new content types@Modemlooper – it’s already being rewritten in a way in versions BP1.2.4/BP1.3-bleeding … started between BP trunk-r2990 to trunk-r3000. Pleasant surprise.
In reply to: Group DocusThere are no alternatives to Group Docs plugin at this time that I know of. How about contacting plugin author to see how you can resolve problem you have with the plugin. As he said “Reporting bugs is the only way for them to be fixed.” https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-documents/
@pcwriter, you’re welcome. We will need to change code come WP3.0/BP1.3, it will be simpler then because all components will be rendered as WP Pages. Cheers.
In reply to: Can buddypress do this?Yes. In fact, those can be already done on WP/MU end.

In reply to: when release of BP 1.2.4edit – deleted by mercime
@pcwriter move do_action( ‘bp_nav_items’ ); sorry can’t add code here … to right after the li of Community links
In reply to: BuddyPress.org current theme@rgauny, the BuddyPress.org theme is a custom child theme of 1.2 bp-default theme by Andy Peatling. As for other components and subnavs, you can already get most of them by just enabling such after you activate BuddyPress and creating a BP child theme or using a regular WP theme and installing BP Template Pack plugin. There are features in this site which might be released soon.
edit- oops @jeffsayre I took too long to answer
In reply to: BuddyPress as a school networkRename wp-content/plugins folder to something else e.g. wp-content/plugins-x and go to wp-admin dashboard and change Themes > Appearance to default theme.
Hook to do_action( ‘bp_nav_items’)
or
1. create a child theme of bp-default,
2. copy the header.php from bp-default theme and copy to child theme
3. manually add/revise the navigation – lines 42 to 82
