Buddypress compatibility: v1.2.1
@marjwyatt Saw the source code and you’re using the BP Template Pack plugin which should no longer be used with BP 1.7 as it can interfere with new default Theme Compatibility with most WP themes.
Theme base: Genesis with Custom Theme
Having mentioned BP’s default Theme Compat in BP 1.7, Please confirm with Genesis theme dev/support whether you still need to purchase Genesis Connect plugin as Genesis themes pre-BP 1.7 required Genesis Connect plugin to make Genesis compatible with BuddyPress.
Issues you have been posting in these forums may be caused by the compatibility process with BP Template Pack and/or needing Genesis Connect. You can change to Twenty Twelve theme and will find that the theme is compatible with BuddyPress as is. So do follow up with your theme support to find resolutions to issues posted.
In reply to: integrating BPAnd I notice that the pages for forums and registration don’t work.
Did you enable Registration in Settings > General? If you did, did you check Settings > BuddyPress > Pages to see if a page for Registration is associated with the Registration dropdown and saved?
I don’t understand the bbpress thing. Am I supposed to have that too if I want forums? Does BuddyPress not have forums built within?
BP no longer has internal bbPress group forums built in. For current version, you need to install and activate the bbPress forums plugin for sitewide and/or group forums. https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
In reply to: Difference between Buddy Press and BBpress? Anyone?better to install bbpress using FTP. I can do it either way, but I’d prefer to do it through BuddyPress
@ldjautobody Recommend that you install BuddyPress first. That way, after you install bbPress plugin via Plugins > Add New, you can activate BP group forums (if you want) in Settings > Forums . https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
In reply to: Wierd issue with group forum@hiboy Strange. If BuddyPress is activated, you should have what I posted above at the bottom of the page Settings > Forums. Have you tried re-uploading bbPress and BuddyPress plugins manually i.e., s/FTP or cpanel?
In reply to: Wierd issue with group forum@hiboy just to be clear, did you upgrade from previous BuddyPress version with the old group forum installed OR is this a new install on WP 3.5.1 and BP 1.7.2? If this is a new install, then just go to admin dashboard menu Settings > Forums and go to the bottom of that page and uncheck “Enable Group Forums”

i think i did this by just not displaying the comment buttons in the activity stream … something like that.
@dainismichel go to Settings > BuddyPress > Settings – Activity Streams and check “Disable activity stream commenting on blog and forum posts?”
In reply to: Extending WP plugin for BP? (RSS)There’s https://wordpress.org/plugins/external-group-blogs/ but not sure if it’s working on latest BP. If you’re going to hire a programmer, might as well have them work on updating/customizing the external group blogs plugin, up to you though.
In reply to: Can not delete when I am logged in as admin@mookmik is your issue about not being able to delete an image via BuddyPress Media? If so, have you posted in their support forums?
In reply to: Footer is showing all wrong on every members page@jcmosquera what footer do you mean? I see the same copyright and links in members and groups. Or have you resolved the issue already?
In reply to: Wierd issue with group forumi running wordpress 3.4.2 with buddypress 1.7.1.
@hiboy Please clarify, do you have a typo above? Makes a difference.
WP 3.4.2 is compatible with BP 1.6.1
BP 1.7.1 is compatible with WP 3.5.1In reply to: Change URL in group forumsWhat exactly do you want to change in how bbPress plugin generates the url of your forums, i.e., from what to what? Some changes are not that hard to do and some changes might require you to hire a developer.

In reply to: Reinstall 1.7.2@fagiano1973 rename the /bp-redirect-to-profile folder in /wp-content/plugins/ in server to something else like /xx-bp-redirect-to-profile via FTP or cPanel
In reply to: Upload avatar page after registrationIn reply to: THE LINK IS MISSINGCan anyone PLEASE explain how to get this link back?
The create group link is in line 21 of this file https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.7.2/bp-themes/bp-default/groups/index.php – you might have deleted that in your child theme’s /group/index.php
@fredang85 all BP templates are rendered via your theme’s page.php file. So if the BP Members and other pages show up in your site, then so should the registration form. Some themeforest themes have hundreds of options which should be better left in plugin territory. Could it be possible that even the registration option is set in the theme’s options? Unfortunately we don’t have access to the premium theme so will suggest that you contact the theme author.
In reply to: duplicate entry in activityI have tried different themes, and they also duplicate the content, including 2012
@floorplanonline We’ve tested BuddyPress extensively with Twenty Twelve and there’s no duplicate content. Deactivate plugins except BP batch by batch to identify which plugin is causing the issue.
I use only one theme and one plugin (bp and complete theme) . no plugin conflicts !
@mahdiar Great. It would be good if you posted which plugin caused the conflict in your installation
In reply to: sidebar issuesAdd this to the bottom of your custom.css
/* Mobile */
@media only screen and (max-width: 767px) {
body.bp-user #sidebar {
margin-top: 0;
}
}In reply to: Activity Commments not workingbut the sub theme is basically just css changes to default.
By sub theme, do you mean you created a child theme of the BP Default theme?
@janver folder where you installed BP/WP should be in lowercase. Change http://netwerkboek.com/Generous to http://netwerkboek.com/generous
In reply to: sidebar issuesstill would like to get rid of the empty space above sidebar in the profile sections.
@caspergrimaldi That’s the default layout of Frisco theme for Member and Group pages. You can use negative margin for the member sidebar in your custom.css file
body.bp-user #sidebar {
margin-top: -100px;
}Adjust negative margin to taste. You’d have to change margin-top for the same in media query section
