But why it is said the theme I use is compatible to run buddypress in wordpress.org themes option?
@musadiqmarhaban @hnla What’s the name of the theme? Those are serious issues.
In reply to: [Resolved] Need some help for a customization.:)@creativepixels cool. Crossing fingers you won’t have to template-pack the theme 🙂
In reply to: Elegant Themes (Evolution) tweaksIn reply to: Registration Page not working>> It was working initially on bluehost, we changed it as it was having some downtime, to godaddy, it didn’t work there and then we changed it to hostgator and it initially did work but afterwards it just stopped. On some computers it does and on some it doesn’t
@godwrx you’d need to identify the changes you made in your installation (aside from the multiple host transfers) before registration started acting up.
– Did you change themes before that happened?
– What theme are you using?
– If you change to BP Default theme, is registration issue corrected?
– Did you add/remove any plugin/s recently?
– If you deactivate such plugin/s, does registration work with BP Default? With your theme?I’m using a child theme of Evolution and put all the 6 folders and sidebar-buddypress.php header-buddypress.php in the Child theme folder – it seems to work but is this the best practice?
@pdillon809 the elemnts have been stripped and replaced from this page in above codes when changes were made to this site. In addition, there might have been some changes to the theme.
Two choices:
1. Open up your theme’s header.php, copy content, post on pastebin.com, click submit, and post the generated URI here. Do the same for footer.php, index.php, page.php and sidebar.php and I’ll go over the theme again and post the solution.
2. If you have a new installation, you can download BP 1.7 beta 1 https://buddypress.org/2013/02/buddypress-1-7-beta-1/ and install it. Deactivate BP Template Pack plugin and delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your theme folder in server. Unless the theme author has completely rewritten the WP templating system, you’ll find that the BP template files will automagically show up in your site. Some usual BP Settings configurations and some CSS tweaking and you’ll be good to go.
Your choice 🙂
In reply to: [Resolved] Need some help for a customization.:)@creativepixels What WP theme are you using? Could have been template-packed already.
On another note, if you have a new installation and just starting to develop your site, you could download https://buddypress.org/2013/02/buddypress-1-7-beta-1/ and upload to your server. You won’t need the BP Temlpate Pack plugin anymore. Deactivate it and remove the 6 folders transferred during the Appearance > BP Compatiblity process in your theme’s folder in server. The BP pages will automagically be inserted in the pages. A few themes where theme authors rewrote the default WP templating system have failed but a majority of WP themes tested have 100% integration. So what WP theme are you using?
In reply to: Private Message Not Workingto install the buddypress 1.7 plugin beta and it still not working.
@jimah for BP 1.7 beta 1, go to Settings > BuddyPress > Components and enable (check) Private Messaging and Save.
WP/BP versions? Site URI?
In reply to: Using 1.7 and need help with template layout@supernaturalbrews they’re working on it https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4771 you can apply patch noted there in the meantime.
In reply to: Avatar won't crop in Chrome@bphelp You’re welcome. Are you referring to this Simplify theme? https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/simplify If so, might I suggest posting at theme author’s support forum at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/simplify and ask if he/she could take the time to resolve it so that more people may be able use the theme with BuddyPress.
In reply to: Using 1.7 and need help with template layout@supernaturalbrews BP 1.7 beta 1 does work with all themes unless the theme author rewrites the templating system to his/her proprietary method.
Having said that, I just checked out and installed https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/triton-lite in test installation and it’s aligned and working out beautifully. It’s definitely not what you have in your site right now.
I suspect that at one time or another, you used the BP Template Pack plugin and had transferred BP template folders during the Appearance > BP Compatibility process. Make a backup of your theme folder in server, then in Appearance > Themes, delete the whole folder and install a clean download of the Triton Lite theme.
In reply to: Avatar won't crop in ChromeIt could be a theme issue. Cropping is working with me using Chrome with either the BP Default Theme or the Twenty Twelve theme. Change to either of the themes I mentioned above and check if same issue occurs or if it is corrected.

In reply to: LoveBP-checkout my site@ladyglam Moved your topic to the “Your BuddyPress” forum.
Sorry, but there will be many who are loathe to register in an unknown site just to see what the site is all about. Please feel free to either provide links to screenshots of your members directory, groups directory and/or whatever you think showcases your community best. Or, provide a throw-away testuser login info. Thanks.Deactivate that bio plugin and check if issue is resolved. If not, deactivate other plugins one by one to identify possible culprit.
In reply to: BuddyPress on WordPress MU@pixelscode If you want a Multisite installation, you need to create a network – https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network
Please make sure you’ve got your multisite installation working first before you install BuddyPress – https://codex.buddypress.org/user/before-installing/
If you have any issues with your multisite install, resolve it first at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite
@fitnessblogger did you change your theme or upload/update a plugin recently?
In reply to: [Resolved] group opens wrong@plugonline Glad it’s working now. Thanks for posting how you resolved your issue.
In reply to: [Resolved] group opens wrong@plugonline It’s not a theme issue. Either you added a plugin or code to make group’s forum page your group’s home page. That’s it.
In reply to: Testing BP 1.7b1 and having some issuesPer the BuddyPress Social theme page http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/buddypress-social-theme/
The theme’s compatible up to BP 1.6.3 so you’d most probably need to upgrade the theme for BP 1.7As for the issue you encountered while using the BP Default theme on BP 1.7 beta, have you tried deactivating plugins except BuddyPress to check if there’s a plugin conflict? If you created a bp-custom.php file, did you check whether there’s any friends or freindship functions you added which might have caused the issue you’re encountering?
In reply to: [Resolved] group opens wrongChange to BP Default theme and deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress. Then check if the group’s link still redirects to their forums.
Also, check Settings > BuddyPress > Pages and double-check if the Page selected for your Groups Directory page is Groups and not Forums.

Recommended plugins for what kind of site? It all depends on what features you want in your site which is not available out of the box.
Here’s one post re MaineLearning.net with all info about kind of server used and plugins used for their BuddyPress-powered site https://buddypress.org/2013/01/an-online-community-for-educators-built-with-buddypress/
