Have you seen Brajesh’s Sitewide Footer Content plugin? It’s a premium plugin fromBuddyDev.com so you have to sign up to get it, but he’s got a lot of goodies there which make the $30 (for 3 months) a pretty good investment.

    http://buddydev.com/plugins/buddypress-premium-plugins/sitewide-footer-content-plugin-for-wpmubuddypress/

I use it on my network (with subdirectories mind you) but know of others who use it with subdomains with no problem reported.

    Hope this helps! :-)

Same problem as Greg. Anytime I click to a member profile, I’m redirected to the home page. Plus, whatever I do in the backend doesn’t change anything on the frontend: the badge simply appears with the embed code, no adjustments, no customization for users.

    I’m running WPMU2.9.2 + BP1.2.3 with child theme of bp-default. Nothing fancy.

In case you haven’t yet figured out the problem with Smooth Slider “vanishing” your other widgets, here’s why (I think):

The overall page width is 960px with 20px padding (.padder div) = 920px for content.

Your sidebar (first-section div) has a margin-right of 560px which results in a width of 360px for the widgets.

Oops! The Smooth Slider widget is 380px wide – 20px too much – so, if you put it at the top of the section, it throws everything else out of whack.

Reduce the width of the widget to 360px, or edit the first-section div to have a margin-right of only 540px and things should work.

The Firebug for Firefox addon helps zero in on problems like this. I installed it a few days ago and am loving it!

    Hope this helps!

Strange… I downloaded, installed and activated the theme as-is (child of bp-default). No left sidebar visible anywhere. The space for it is visible, but it appears to the right of content.padder div. The new sidebar area is available in wp-dashboard under Appearance > Widgets but, any widget dropped in doesn’t show on site.

    Any ideas?

I’m using these 3 plugins together and have no bot signups at all on WPMU2.9.2/BP1.2.3.

    WPMU Super Captcha

The occasional stubborn human does drop by once in a blue moon, and these few only manage to get through using RPX and an existing account, or they really take the time to fill out the registration form. Email domain banning and persistent account termination seem to be the only solutions in these cases.

Can’t get it yet from the wp repository, and it appears you’ve reached your allowed download limit for the type of account you have at RapidShare. This is from your download page there:

To download this file, the uploader either needs to transfer this file into his/her Collector’s Account, or upload the file again. The file can later be moved to a Collector’s Account. The uploader just needs to click the delete link of the file to get further information.

    Guess we’ll have to wait… :-(

Since the link thumb can be edited it is not possible to synch it up with the activity stream

Ahh… that answers my question too. Thanks!

Great new features! Running WPMU2.9.2/BP1.2.3 with child theme of bp-default.

Sharing works flawlessly; from group to group or profile, from profile to group or other profile, from directory to group or profile. Link creation from group and profile works fine too. And activity stream commenting also works across all pages as it should, including comment deletion.

    Two suggestions:

1 – I think the “Share” button should also be present on the activity single page and the link home page, ‘cuz that’s where all the discussion is going to happen. Perhaps right next to “Public Link” / “Active X time ago”?

2 – It would be great (imho) if a thumbnail could also be shown in the activity stream and on the activity single page.

    Great stuff… thanks for this!

When you launch your community, it’s advisable to make sure that all features available to your users are working as they should. Otherwise, you’ll be devoting a large percentage of time responding to queries from users and fixing their problems; time that could otherwise be better invested in developing the features that you wish to add to your site at a later date.

I’m not going to give money to 2shared by participating in their silly quizzes before I can download your plugin to test. I agree with Bowe: use a better host.

    Thanks for getting into this!

I kinda figured that was the way to go, but I was hoping there’d be an easier way :-)

I’ll try to get my head around this one…

    Thanks!

I believe there would be great interest in this over at BuddyDev with Brajesh’s BP-Gallery plugin. I PM’ed a link to the author.

I installed BP Blog Author Link this morning before going to work. Works just dandy.

At this point there should either be multiple Events plugins OR it should be core.

And just who would you suggest devote the time to these demands?

Me, I can just get by with HTML/CSS. PHP is still a foreign language to me, so I am content to bide my time while waiting for those creative folks who generously give of their time and skills.

If you are skilled at coding, perhaps you could devote your time to this project. If not, please be patient.

Or, begin a discussion thread about what features you believe should make up the basic framework of an events plugin. Interest could perhaps build in the community, and strike passion in the heart of some obscure developer(s)… who knows.

It only takes a spark to ignite a bonfire.

Did you create a directory ‘bb-attachments’ one level above your WP root as per the instructions here?

That’s a cool idea… thanks! Although xampp does look a bit intimidating at first glance, I’ll give it a shot.

“Role Scoper” plugin looks promising and seems like it would fit the bill. Also, the author states that the plugin api “provides some extensions to support integration with other plugins”.

What think you? Would this be compatible with BP?

Hot diggety dog! That’s great news. I had fun with your earlier version of Achievements back in December and I’m looking forward to seeing how it will integrate in 1.2

    Bingo! Thanks for that!

My confusion with negative/positive margins and right/left floats – and which divs should wear which – led me astray. As I’m a low-tech, visually-oriented kind of fella, I’ll try first drawing myself a paper sketch of my desired layout & values using your cues. I’ll do it later today though ‘cuz I’m going to treat myself to the luxury of an afternoon nap with my cat :-)

Thanks again for your help, I really appreciate it.

Thanks for the additional input, I’ll try your suggestions. 100% neg margin for the sidebar sounds intriguing. I think I’m more comfortable with the 2nd solution you laid out… ‘cuz I know what you’re talking about ;-)

While I’m playing with L&F, I’m trying something else at the same time: rather than sidebar left, repurpose the header image to better fit sidebar right (with the searchbox and navbar to the left).

Thanks again (a bunch!) for your help. I’ve got this thread bookmarked.

BTW, yes, the sidebar was positioned below clearing #content in IE7.

Update: of course, IE being the pain in the a** that it is, everything’s out of whack!

    More fiddling to be done…

Any suggestions for an IE fix?

    Thank you!

I didn’t think of that, and it helped a lot. I needed to tweak some other stuff too. Like floating div#content .padder left and giving it a fixed width in my fixed width template (otherwise the contents of every page would bunch up against the right edge). But your suggestion got me going to exactly where I wanted to get.

A final adjustment to the header image, and voilà: http://rspace.org

Now that I have the site looking the way I want it, I can get back to content. Yay!
