Thanks r-a-y. I guess I’ll give 1.0 RC3 a shot again since it DOES work elsewhere. Much appreciated. I’m looking forward to the tut too. LOL

I did look through that tutorial but the plugin that’s suggested breaks every install I have. And any tutorial that uses screenshots from a different version makes me go “eeek” and run away. LOL But I did go through it and 1.0 RC3 was still laughing at me like the dog on Duck Hunt. Oh how I hated that dog.

Marking this as resolved.

Thanks again =D

This error kicks out in plugins for me a lot when someone closes the php tag after the plugin info, then opens it again. i.e.

<?php
/*plugin info
?>
<?php function my_plugin_function

If I remove the “close php” “open php” tags, my header errors go away. i.e.

<?php
/* plugin info
function my_plugin_function

2 things you can try here. 1. Disable discussion & then enable it again. 2. Try creating a new group & see if you still have the same problem.

notme31, step 1. Make absolutely sure that you’re using the same name & pw on the BP forums setup as you used for your keymaster on bbPress.

You can try my integration tutorial at The Easy Button. Read through it and see if there’s a step that you’ve missed. Or just start from the beginning. You can contact me directly if you still can’t get it worked out. Maybe we can get it working together. Good luck =D

To Uninstall bbPress

1. Delete bb-config.php from your forums directory.

2. Log into your database and drop the tables that begin with bb_ (assuming you left bb_ as your forum prefix)

To install it again, simply go to the same page you used to install it before. Run through your installation and your bb-config.php as well as the bb_ tables will be created again.

Are you sure that you’ve placed everything in the correct folders? Remember that in the new version of BuddyPress, directory placement & names are different. i.e. buddypress should be found in wp-content/plugins/buddypress. Member theme is wp-content/bp-themes/bpmember. Home theme is wp-content/themes/bphome

Also, if you’re using a custom theme, there are a few changes that must be made to it in order for it to work properly with the new version of BuddyPress.

Have any scripts been added to your theme? I worked on a site the other day that had a css java script added and it caused that exact problem.

Any clue on a fix for the escapes? I’m having the issue in group topic titles. Groups look fine but when you look at the topic in bbPress, there are escapes in the title.

Posting via bbPress it works fine. Posting via groups, the titles get escapes.

Hoping the fix for this can be applied to my issue as well. (using BP1, bbPress alpha6, wpmu 2.7.1)

Unless things have changed and I’m way behind on the new version, you need bbPress in order to use BuddyPress to its full potential. bbPress is what makes the groups work.

I had lots of login and logout issues. And to fix them, I had to “mess around with cookies and stuff like that.”

1 thing was that I copied all of the auth keys from the wp-config and put them into bb-config. Another modification was that I had to define the cookiehash. When logging into bbPress, I didn’t have that hash so there were 2 separate cookies being created. 2 separate cookies means that logging out of 1 side doesn’t kick you out of the other.

I agree with JJJ – If removing those lines fixes it, leave it as is. But if you\’re still unhappy with the way something is working, you could try my integration tutorial.

I\’m assuming there\’s nothing important in your bbPress database yet since you said you wiped it all out and tried again. If this assumption is correct, start with a clean install of bbPress by deleting the forums/bb-config.php file. Also, drop the tables in your database that start with bb_

You can find the tutorial at http://theeasybutton.com/blog/2009/04/30/integrating-buddypress-10-wpmu-and-bbpress/

It was written for BuddyPress 1.0 but works exactly the same for RC2.

Good luck and if you fix it, please remember to let us know so we\’re not still trying to find a better answer for you. =D

I swear that you\’re talking about 2 separate things.

When activating the home theme, you will first use \”Themes\” to enable it. Then, you go to Appearance, click the theme and you get the big popup where you click activate.

When activating the profile (member) theme, there is no screen shot. Only a pull down menu.

So your statement of \”whenever I try to load the BP theme itself after activating it the large screenshot that comes up just says \”You do not have any BuddyPress themes installed.\” seriously confuses me.

That error should only be coming up on the profile page. i.e. nacdb.com/members/members/admin

Also, could you enable registration of username & blogs so that anyone attempting to help can sign up for an account if need be.

What’s weird to me is that your home page (nacdb.com/members) has the profile index. It’s almost as though you’ve got bpmember in the wp-content/themes directory.

Yep – I’m at a loss. Hopefully JJJ or one of the other brilliant minds here can sort it out for you.

Sorry to double post, but how is everything set up?

Does your root have your wp-content folder or is is more like:

members/wp-content ?

I swear you keep editing your initial post – Quit it. LMAO

I see what you’re saying. All of your links have an extra directory in them.

members/admin is what you want

member/members/admin is what you’re getting.

Is your buddypress stuff in

wp-content >> plugins >> buddypress

The page that gives you the popup activation is for the home theme. The home theme should be in

wp-content >> themes >> bphome

Kind’ve funny that it’s telling you to put it into the wrong place. Unless I’m totally misunderstanding what you’re saying.

And the members theme should be

wp-content >> bp-themes >> bpmember

Make sure that you moved the themes, not copied them over. Having them in 2 places can make things go silly.

Also, you say that you activated the plugins and then moved your themes around. Go to the bp settings, use the profile theme selector, select the bp member’s theme and then save it. Don’t just save it if it’s already there. Use the pull down menu and choose it again & save it.

This probably won’t fix the issue but it’s worth a shot. I know sometimes my installations get a little wonky with profiles if I do it out of order.

Sgrunt, one thing to look at would be your padding attributes. IE hates those (almost as much as I hate IE) If you can find a way to avoid using padding, you’ll be better off in the end. =D

Kunal17, first delete your bb-config in the forums directory. Then, go to your database and (assuming you left things as default) you should drop (delete) all of the tables that start with bb_

This will allow you to do a fresh install of your forums.

If you still can’t get it to install correctly, feel free to contact me and I’ll see if I can give you a hand.

Great to hear. Nice job.

If I’m understanding you correctly, you want member blogs to use the same theme that you use for your home theme. If this is correct, here’s how you can accomplish that.

In wp-content >> themes, rename the default folder. Something like old-default works well so you remember what it is.

Then, rename the folder of the theme that you want to be set as default.

i.e. rename buddypress-home to default

Make sure you check out the new paths compared to the old ones. If your directories aren’t named correctly and things aren’t in the right spot, it’ll kick those 404’s out all over the place.

i.e. make sure your buddypress stuff is all in wp-content >> plugins >> buddypress >> “all files” vs the old mu-plugins >> “all files” path.

Maybe someone else knows, does this database fit perfectly with the old versions? Could Wildchild do the 100% fresh install and then just put the database data in?

Have you made ANY changes to your themes? i.e. Changed div’s by adding or removing any of them? Changed anything in the stylesheets? One wrong letter or character can break everything. (believe me I know lol)

I may be mistaken but I’m pretty sure the home theme runs for everything except what you see when at http://yoursite.com/members/”whatever”

If you could either set up a test user for us or even just set the admin bar to show for logged out users, that’d be helpful.

@theeasybutton

Freaking Wildchild, if you’re using the newest release (1.0 RC-2) then your buddypress stuff should be in wp-content >> plugins >> buddypress

If not using the new stuff, then sorry I’m of no help.

I had this issue when messing with my template. I tried to put a wrapper around EVERYTHING and it sent the adminbar straight to the bottom of the page.
