I love that idea! Thanks @danielfelice! I tweeted it and hope others might start using it as well since there is no repository yet. You can also encourage people to submit their themes to http://themes.wordpress.net as well for great access :)

Can anyone else confirm this happening to them?

Ah…lightbox works on the actual “flickr” page, just not on the profile page. Maybe that would be a nice addition?

If you leave your contact information, I can close this thread as this is a support forum and not a job board.

The lightbox isn’t working for me in 0.93 Nicola. Am I missing something?

I plan on hacking up something that doesn’t cache private blogs as well since right now wp-super-cache will cache private blogs and then show them from cache to the public. I just have an array in my wp-config.php right now for private blogs, but that isn’t a long-term solution. It would be nice to cache members and groups though.

@slaFFik I would check that you saved the right information in your WPMU admin for the forum user and that you have pingbacks and xmlrpc checkboxes on in bbPress. As well, you can’t have .htaccess blocking of your forums or it will not work. You can’t use the original force login plugin for bbPress (not mine) or it will not work.

You also have to make sure that you disable the forum for a group and then enable it after each and every change you make to try and get this working. If you enable it and then change more things it will not work. So basically, if it isn’t working, check over and change things to make sure it has the ability to work and then disable/enable the forum for a group. If you enable it and it isn’t working and then you change a setting so that it would work, but don’t disable forum posting and then re-enable, it still won’t work.

Hopefully that isn’t too confusing, but as long as all the settings are there and your WPMU install has access to the bbPress xmlrpc.php file, it should work. There is no doubt that Andy will eventually be doing more for the forums side of things, but it might be a couple of months.

Wish I had a magic wand to get everyone’s forums working, but really it boils down to triple checking all the settings and keep disabling/enabling forums for a group until it works.

As for the WPMU 2.7 download (before it is released), go to the bottom of the following page for the link to the zip.

It can’t find the bp-core folder files. Double check that all the files have been uploaded to your /mu-plugins/ folder.

Nicola it would be nice to add a “checkbox” in the user profile edit page to toggle these plugins on and off as showing them for all users might not be what members would want. The ability to turn them on/off for their profile would nice!

Fatal error could be anything. No access to error logs? What host?

If you are getting a blank page, the first place to look is what your apache logs are saying about trying to access it. What is the error, since it is giving you a fatal error if you are getting a white page. It could be a plugin conflict or something as basic as still looking for an older theme from the database.

http://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/ and login as the site-admin whatever account that is. Is that what you mean?

WPMU has real issue with trying to change data back and forth through the database directly. That is where you will either have to do multiple “search and replace” in the database (scary) or simply just use the standard WP export and import files to move data back and forth (safe). Since there is no “export/import” for buddypress, the only way to do it is search and replace the database files URL. So, there is no easy way to move data around at this point. Maybe a suggestion for future releases since it would be nice for even members to move their data if they change for host to host.

Is that what he said? My understanding is that the wire box will always be where it is now, but another module, “status updates” will be at the top.

Don’t fear. Just change the register.php form in your bbPress template to not have the registration form in it and replace it with a link to your register form on your WPMU install. There are quite a few threads on the bbPress forums about this. If you use the default theme, copy folder to /my-plugins/ and then adjust the theme. That way it won’t break when you upgrade.

Haven’t look at the exact calls, but have you looked at the code in the sitewide activity widget and what global functions it is calling and how exactly the lists are produced?

    @trent

You have some plugin conflicts it looks like since you are also using nextgen-gallery which might also be calling some libraries. Try disabling it and see if buddypress is able to upload and avatar and crop it.

@mikepratt I would create a ticket in trac an a future enhancement for that. Might catch on with people as I had trouble creating groups due to that as well. Darn required fields ;)

Do you have phpMyAdmin running? Can you go to it or whatever Database admin program that your host gives you and then run the following command on your database?

    CREATE TABLE wp_user_3_activity (
id int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT PRIMARY KEY,
    item_id int(11) NOT NULL,
    secondary_item_id int(11),
    user_id int(11) NOT NULL,
    component_name varchar(75) NOT NULL,
    component_action varchar(75) NOT NULL,
    date_recorded datetime NOT NULL,
    is_private tinyint(1) NOT NULL,
    KEY item_id (item_id),
    KEY user_id (user_id),
    KEY is_private (is_private),
    KEY component_name (component_name)
    )

See if it will actually create the tables manually?

You are not using an older version of hyper-db or the multi-db plugin from wpmudev.org premium are you? Both need to be patched to work with functions and delta-db. Latest trunk of hyper-db works, but multi-db plugin needs to have a few functions added to it until they release a version for 2.7 and/or buddypress integration.

@wardeh – I haven’t actually tried that plugin with a custom member theme, but it might not be working for 2 reasons.

First might be because the plugin is calling $is_member_page, it might not work unless you have all the functions included with the normal buddypress-member theme.

Second reason might be because the header('Location: ' . get_settings('siteurl') . '/register'); is calling the register page on the main theme that doesn’t exist? Maybe change that line to header('Location: ' . get_settings('siteurl') . '/wp-signup.php'); and see if that works?

The bbPress plugin should work if you are calling it out of /my-plugins/ but I am pretty sure you have to have the <?php bb_head(); ?> in your template header as well as <?php do_action('bb_foot'); ?> in your template footer.php.

Let me know, as the bbPress plugin is just a “redesign” of the force login plugin found in the bbPress forums.

Check the permissions on your mysql user. That might be the only other issue here. It has to have proper rights and access to your database. Something else to check on anyways.
