In reply to: My BuddyPress Hosting Recommendation
Nothing good yet but they do seem to be taking the matter seriously (as one should expect) supposed to speak with them again today in fact. They have provided a few suggestions but none of them has done the trick (CDN, custom robots file) The last suggestion was a bit wanting IMO they suggested using a third party service to filter our traffic. If this truly is a system wide issue i’d think that they need to revise either their stated billing policy or their method of counting visitors. Just curious are you also experiencing this issue?
In reply to: [Resolved] BP 1.6 admin bar menu and profile editingi think only mods can do that. maybe you can if you can edit the thread title [Resolved] in front of the existing title is i believe the accepted format for that.
In reply to: [Resolved] BP 1.6 admin bar menu and profile editingah gotcha, well what i do is have a plugin that allows me to switch into other users temporarily for that kind of thing but maybe your way is simpler so…
if you’re interested in my method the plugin is called user switching and on a member profile page there will be a button to switch into them then normally you’d use the admin bar to switch back but if you are getting rid of that there should also be a switch back link added by the plugin to the footer as well.
In reply to: [Resolved] BP 1.6 admin bar menu and profile editingso you’re saying that when you visit the profile tab of your own member page you are not seeing the change avatar sub tab on any of your installs? is this something which just happened? do you see the other sub tabs (public and edit)? are all these servers using the same hosting?
In reply to: bbPress menu: parent not highlightingya i guess you’re right probably something to create a trac ticket for but i’m not sure if that would be bbpress trac ticket or buddypress. maybe create a ticket for buddypress if they reject it then submit to bbpress.
In reply to: [Resolved] BP 1.6 admin bar menu and profile editingsorry i’m not sure maybe someone else has a better answer but maybe try re-installing buddypress?
In reply to: bbPress menu: parent not highlightingi could be wrong but i don’t think you actually want to create a page for site wide bbpress forums only for the group forums if you are using them. As you can see here:
the parent menu item should be highlighted on that page as it should be for all sub menu items none of our buddypress pages are children of our community “page” which is actually just our members page.
In reply to: [Resolved] BP 1.6 admin bar menu and profile editingsomething must be wrong with your setup or theme the “old way” still exists.
In reply to: Plugin to display connected usersi could be wrong I’m my reading of what you want as well but i think the “Who’s Online Avatars” widget might be what you’re looking for?
In reply to: Video: BuddyPress 1.7 Overviewnice one thanks for sharing!
In reply to: Buddypress ajax latest messagescool looking site can’t help much with the coding stuff myself though.
i asked about this in the devchat today sounds like its on the roadmap for 1.8 fix
All? i think it was just me but your welcome anyway 😉
In reply to: [Resolved] threaded comments won’t work after updatesounds good!
In reply to: [Resolved] threaded comments won’t work after updatewell there are probably way better people to answer that question then myself but if you don’t care about users or bbpress/buddypress information and you can create a staging area then one step you can take is to export/import your sites content into a totally clean install which is also a recommended step for certain kinds of hacking events. bear in mind i have never actually had to take that step myself so i am not saying i would recommend that as i have try little information about your actual situation.
my understanding is that if you do this the old site must be be live during the reimport on the other side which is why a staging area would be required. if any of this seems scary to you then it probably should and you might want to consider paying someone who’s more knowledgable to resolve the situation for you they may well even have a better path to happiness then my sort of last ditch option.
probably the right move 😉
my understanding is that this issue exists on all buddypress installs (i could be wrong).
The +5 hours on the records in the WP Admin Activity isn’t very nice, but at lease the end user doesn’t see it.
yeah thats kinda how i feel too lower priority item but still somewhat annoying.
In reply to: [Resolved] threaded comments won’t work after update– what did djpaul mean when he said: “Recreated by several users on multiple installs…..” Specifically what “multiple installs” is he referring to?
multiple places/sites/servers take your pick every instance of buddypress is technically speaking another install.
– Did you ever get your issue resolved after applying Changeset 6679?
nah didn’t work for me my issue was bit different from that trac ticket anyway. i suspect it is a database thing of some kind or some kind of bug with my hosting service (wp engine) not really sure cause i can’t replicate it.
well i was saying it is a known bug referring back to this thread but like i said i don’t know if theres a ticket yet:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/time-fifference-buddypress-activity-and-bbpress/
well i was just answering your first question since it seemed like you had a few i was trying to keep things simple. you know how to make groups now? maybe we can move forward?
yeah being logged in should be a prerequisite to creating a group thats the way its supposed to work.
In reply to: [Resolved] threaded comments won’t work after updateno problem let me know how it goes.
i’m pretty sure this is a known issue but I’m not sure if there a trac ticket for it.
normally you got to the group list page and there is a button.
