doesn’t do that for me:
gotgame.cc
normally, that’s in general settings if you are multisite it is located in network settings.
In reply to: Allow users to create their own blogs!!!!thats pretty neat!
In reply to: Allow users to create their own blogs!!!!Yes you need to make your wordpress a multisite install buddypress has additional features which are multisite dependent.
i think it’s just supposed to do that by default.
In reply to: Buddypress and Multisite – 2nd and successive sitesok glad to help fyi there are some aspects that function across the network. For instance there is one unified user list (meaning if you are logged in on one site you are logged in as the same user in all sites as well) and some of the buddypress related widgets can be placed on any sub site also activity for the various sub sites will be listed on the primary sites activity feed (provided the sub site is public and you have the site tracking component enabled).
i think he must be since he’s talking about the admin bar and categories
that’s not normal maybe your general wp settings are making new users something other then subscribers? the default member role does not grant posting capability.
In reply to: Buddypress and Multisite – 2nd and successive siteswell what i would suggest is to network enable buddypress meaning that the buddypress pages would only exist on the primary site.
if you want to do the other thing i’d google “multiple instances of buddypress” looks like theres some good stuff there. but again i would not suggest that unless you are sure you need it that way because it’s not really the way buddypress is intended to be setup.
@quint i think the front end access to that is from the directory page only now (i could be wrong).
In reply to: Buddypress and Multisite – 2nd and successive sitesbuddypress is designed to be network activated not individually activated on separate sites on a network. now my understanding is that it can be made to work that way but i wouldn’t suggest it personally.
In reply to: ENABLE MULTIBLOGthat’s the way it’s supposed to work also make sure your site tracking component is enabled in your buddypress settings.
In reply to: Buddypress site tracking misses most blogsokay i think i actually figured out my problem at least which seems to be a bug actually. Not sure if its related to this one that was also recently reported:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4827
this bug is actually with 1.6.4 haven’t yet been able to test with 1.7 what happens is that if you create a site using network admin and do not set the tittle attribute it never gets added to the directory if someone could tell me if this is not related to that other bug i will attempt to make a trac ticket for it. thanks!
In reply to: Buddypress site tracking misses most blogs@mercime thanks for the input but my problem is much more like this one then that one all the blogs are public and even as super admin i cannot see most of them. As far as i can tell there no difference between the way the ones that are visible and the ones aren’t. One of them only shows up to super admins (not even to the owner) all were created by me. according to the host:
the only blog IDs listed in the user_blogs table are 1, 2, 3, and 9. Also in the blogmeta table, it has the name, description, and last activity timestamp for those blogs. There is some data for TheEleven and an activity timestamp for blog ID 4, but nothing else, so I believe that has something to do with it.
so out of the 8 sites i have so far 2 are fully visible and one is sorta half visible.
just to clarify i see them but just not on the site directory page handled by buddypress.
:/
In reply to: Buddypress site tracking misses most blogsalso seeing this problem without the blogs directory plugin did anyone ever figure this out?
In reply to: More than just an option to add someone as a friend?i would also add that most contact managers/lists also provide for different categories of contacts. in my mind it’s not even necessarily levels but classifications. Simply being able to redefine the term friend without manhandling the core files the way its possible to do with the base profile field group also falls under the umbrella of this extended functionality, again in my opinion.
In reply to: More than just an option to add someone as a friend?well friending is a very Facebook-y idea if you ask me. Having multiple groups of connections or at least the option of doing that seems to be worthy of a core feature to me but then i don’t make any decisions like that so i guess its matter of opinion.
In reply to: Akismet configured but not workingit works fine for me but it doesn’t catch all spam i think it’s still learning how to tell whats spam or not when it comes to activity. it’s not perfect for comments either but probably catches about 99% or so. i’d say the number with activity spam is still probably under 50% at least as far as i can tell.
In reply to: More than just an option to add someone as a friend?interesting thought maybe a good feature enhancement for trac if it doesn’t already exist.
In reply to: Akismet configured but not workingakismet integration for BP activity is still a bit hit and miss in my experience at least.
In reply to: Base Button in Profile — What does it do?glad to be help 🙂
In reply to: Base Button in Profile — What does it do?It doesn’t really do anything unless you have other profile field groups. If you do, you will see the other groups as buttons also, in that case the “base” (or whatever you have renamed base to) button will bring you back to the “base” profile field group. “Base” refers to the default or required group of profile fields.
In reply to: [Resolved] “Enable Group Forum” settings not savinghave you confirmed this isn’t a theme issue? does this also happen with the bp-default theme? i would think if you disabled the group forum option that link shouldn’t even show up.
In reply to: My BuddyPress Hosting Recommendationsmall update still no final resolution as of yet but they did reiterate that this issue is not normal so they wouldn’t be holding us to the inflated number in terms of billing so that’s definitely good and i do feel somewhat safer in recommending them. i would say that given the fact that i am personally 2 for 2 at this point i would definitely inform a client of the possibility prior to recommending them. i would say they have been very attentive in pretty much every support situation i have had so personally i have faith at this point at least they will turn out to be as i have suspected almost from the beginning the sort of ultimate managed hosting environment at least as it pertains to wordpress.
In reply to: My BuddyPress Hosting Recommendationindeed, something tells me that this maybe a common problem amongst the managed wordpress hosts (pure conjecture nothing really to back that up) as they all charged based on visitors. i can say that the service itself has been great and having actual phone support as well as the fact that you don’t have to explain how wordpress works or what buddypress is every time you call in or start a ticket is very nice. there are a few quirks to the system that take a little getting used to but if it weren’t for this one issue i would have no hesitation to fully endorse them. anyway i’ll definitely update the thread once i have some kind of final resolution.
