In reply to: Adding group blog posts to the activity stream?
i think buddypress needs to be network activated (i could be wrong on that) but it will only really be displayed on the main site (that part i’m certain of).
In reply to: Problems with new member registration.people who have registered but never clicked their activation links in the generated emails would be the people who only show up in the backend not sure if it has anything to do with wanguard probably best to test the registration process yourself to determine if an actual issue exists (both with and without that plugin activated). if an issue does exist with their plugin, they would best to ask about it, i would think.
In reply to: /forums to show a forum category list???that redirects me to the homepage are you sure you have installed everything correctly?
In reply to: /forums to show a forum category list???what is your forum url?
the only one that looks wrong to me is the last entry the earlier entries appear correct.
TurtleBoy wrote a new post, “Son Of Rambow” (2007)
could be a language setting thing have you double checked that?
In reply to: /forums to show a forum category list???that’s the way it’s supposed to work by default might be helpful if you post link to your actual site.
In reply to: Disabling BuddyPress Registration Componentfigured you might say that unfortunately if your existing plugin doesn’t support buddypress functionality then that sort of puts you in a box. if you decide to keep your existing plugin then you will either need to find another way to implement the restrictions (not likely to be easy), wait for the plugin to support buddypress or reassign your user levels with a plugin which does support blocking BP pages such as s2 member. maybe someone else who knows more then i do will have another idea but that’s all i got.
In reply to: Disabling BuddyPress Registration Componentyou may want to look into s2 member i think it can handle everything you are trying to achieve also i don’t think you should be so concerned about the buddypress activation process as opposed to the wordpress activation for security reasons i believe if anything the buddypress slightly more secure but for the most part i think they’re the exact same thing (other then the additional default email verification step for buddypress) in fact if someone registers for your site but fails to activate they will be a regular wordpress user and not listed with your other buddypress members.
In reply to: BuddyDroid – BuddyPress for Androidthat is a really neat app and i love what you did with the revised logo i just wonder how much utility this universal app would have for average users since it requires admin level access to plug it in (or at least a fairly lengthy activation process) i wonder how much work it would be to hard code this for a particular site seems like a great and easy way to make a fairly interactive app for any buddypress site.
In reply to: I have a few issues.you can try pasting the following into your edit css tab under appearance:
`#bbpress-forums .bbp-forums-list {
display: none;
}`In reply to: Member profiles private vs. publicIt’s called an author archive page and it is automatically generated by your theme more info on that can be found here:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Author_Templates#Custom_Author_Information
In reply to: I have a few issues.set the visibility to none would be the simplest thing to try but i cannot tell you if there is more that you will have to do. like i say if you don’t know what you are doing it may not be the best thing to be messing with.
In reply to: View Profile Page?i don’t think you can create a universal link (i.e. in the normal wp menu system) it would need to be dynamically generated which would require coding it into your theme, reformatting the page would require css modification also possibly additional theme modification.
In reply to: I have a few issues.well if you can’t find it you may not want to be messing with it in the first place but here is the file you are looking for:
http://gaesteblog.dk/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/templates/default/css/bbpress.css
In reply to: View Profile Page?when you are viewing your own profile the first tab labels “public” is probably what you’re looking for the fastest way to get there (typically) is through the wp admin bar under : your name > profile > view
In reply to: I have a few issues.it’s in there i just double-checked on your site it’s definitely calling that class. the class maybe (probably is) coming from some file inside of bbpress’s plugin directory fyi
In reply to: I have a few issues.yes i told you how to hide them you can’t have them all on the first level. if you can’t deal with sub-categorizing them you will need to do it through css the class is called “bbp-forums-list”
In reply to: I have a few issues.re #1 you can further organize the sub-forums (i.e. make them children of children), the display on the parent page only goes one level deep. re #2 i have no idea it’s really very different from the way thats supposed to behave by default i would have no idea to begin with that, sorry.
In reply to: View Profile Page?i believe you are mistaken the buddypress profiles can only be filled out in the front end (even for admins) the wordpress backend profile is separate (other then a few items).
In reply to: Member profiles private vs. publicsuch a page already exists but it’s not part of buddypress the link takes the following form:
yourdomain.top/author/username
glad to be a help!
In reply to: My BuddyPress Hosting Recommendationyeah i have basically proved that statement to be incorrect so like i say i’m hoping to resolve this and i will surely keep you posted but i would also pretty much assure you that if you compared your visitor counts today you would see the exact difference i’m talking about i have already confirmed it on two accounts i control and with another buddy who’s client got a nasty shock on their bill i guess.
In reply to: My BuddyPress Hosting RecommendationIt’s a system wide issue yes in fact i am talking to their “Chief It Guy” about it. The difference you speak of (non-javascript enabled browsers) is typically about 20%. What they are counting as “Visitors” is running at about half of the total hits which typically correlates with files not visitors. The upshot is about 6 to 8 times larger visitor count then what you’re actually getting.
In reply to: My BuddyPress Hosting Recommendationthat’s a great article your blog looks nice as well. i think i’d probably agree with your conclusion but i am curious if you have encountered the issue over there where they are counting about 8 to 10 times the number of visitors GA reports (i believe due to faulty counting methods) it’s definitely giving me pause to refer any more business to them at least until the issue is resolved.
