In reply to: Dealing with deleted members (Redirects)
well but wouldn’t that only happen if a user actually mentions the spammer? any activity the spammer themselves made would be removed along with the user. i have never seen anyone mention a spammer.
In reply to: Dealing with deleted members (Redirects)i don’t think those 404 should be bothering you. if you have open registration then you will invariably get some amount of spam registration. would you rather have google seeing missing pages or seeing the spammy profiles with links that actually could hurt your ranking? 404 errors in WMT are mainly just to alert you the webmaster that they exist. i do not believe they actually impact your sitewide or page specific ranking at all.
In reply to: please give some buddy press themes.you can look here (not an endorsement):
In reply to: Newbie to BPsorry never used that particular plugin but my understanding is that its very similar to s2.
i don’t know any php and i’ve been using and helping others use buddypress for many years now.
In reply to: BuddyPress 2014 Surveyall the cool kids are doing it!
In reply to: Newbie to BPyes but using the terminology you already have, you are really talking about WordPress roles more then Buddypress roles (which actually don’t really exist) some of the functionality you are looking for would probably require something like s2 member to be fully automated the way you describe.
In reply to: Posts for each group separatelyhave you tried the sitewide notifications?
yeah lookin’ good!
In reply to: What’s the best way to start fresh?there is only one level of hidden forums in bbpress. there probably is way to extend that but it’s way above my pay grade.
more of a theme question then a buddypress question i think the dev hasn’t been any help?
In reply to: What’s the best way to start fresh?i think he platform itself will be fine but you should be aware that user levels only apply to wordpress and bbpress. buddypress itself doesn’t really use them so your moderators will be able to have extended authority in your forums but they will have no special powers over groups themselves (they will be able to moderate any group forums that are created however) only full wp admins can moderate groups (although you can assign a member to be a group admin manually as admin).
In reply to: Adding Dynamic Profile Link to Main Menu Itemit’s in the menu screen there should be a buddypress section with the links.
In reply to: spam registrationyou bet happy new year!

In reply to: [Resolved] Timestamps in members timezoneit’s not difficult even i have one and i don’t know lick of php.
🙂
In reply to: [Resolved] Timestamps in members timezonethat’s an interesting idea.
In reply to: Membership Reportingi could imagine lots of interesting metrics. posts, messages, group activities, even wordpress related things like posts. Anything that makes activity basically could make for some very interesting ways to measure a site.
In reply to: Membership Reportingi don’t but am also interested if anyone knows of one.
In reply to: trying to get my site to vpsyou’d probably need to give a few more specifics if you want any help.
In reply to: Is Buddy press+multisite the best optioni don’t think stability was ever an issue with multisite. i think the issue is that being a more complex situation it is easier to have things go haywire as an admin. I have started several multisites now and at least for me in those situations it has worked out great, granted i do not typically grant admin privileges to my customers unless they specifically request it and i usually give them a warning that the main difference between being an editor and being an admin/super is that you can break things that are way harder to fix. i think the best way to figure if it is above your head technically is to try it out on a test/staging server.
In reply to: WordPress New Update 3.8 Admin Baridk maybe check with the plugin dev then?
In reply to: WordPress New Update 3.8 Admin Barmore of a wordpress question then a buddypress question.
maybe this will help?
In reply to: Is Buddy press+multisite the best optionmultisite maybe overkill but if you want different themes or domains for each “site” than i would say multisite is probably the way to go.
