In reply to: Buddypress forum in Dynamix theme
i don’t think you understood what i was trying to say, bbpress is the forum software which integrates most tightly with buddypress.
In reply to: Buddypress forum in Dynamix themeforums are bbpress which is a separate plugin.
In reply to: BuddyPress Pages not displayinghave you checked to make sure the pages are associated correctly in the main buddypress preferences?
In reply to: How to make wp theme compatible with buddypressidk usually works pretty good. maybe something is screwy with your install. i’d start by trying to isolate the theme itself and any plugins you maybe running if that doesn’t work id try a completely fresh install of wp on the same server if thats still problem it suggests theres something wrong on the server level.
In reply to: How to make wp theme compatible with buddypresshave you tried it with no modification or extra files?
In reply to: How to make wp theme compatible with buddypressAs the header on that page says that component has been depreciated any theme should be basically compatible with buddypress “out of the box” more info can be found here:
sounds interesting to me!
In reply to: Threaded, hierarchal displayit probably would not be that hard to create a page with a filtered activity loop that would look very similar, but also probably not nested. another thing is you could probably make is some kind of plugin which which alters the layout of bbpress content. both of those things are well beyond my own area of expertise but you might also try the bbpress forums.
In reply to: Gravatars not workingIn reply to: [Resolved] Members not activatingtry creating some other activity see if that makes them show up.
In reply to: [Resolved] Members not activatingif the same thing is happening on another server that would suggest to me (at least) that some other less common factor maybe at play like for instance something on a network level that is interfering with something. i will say there have been a relatively high number of registration related issues here lately perhaps the reg process is a bit finicky in the current version.
In reply to: [Resolved] Members not activatingso only wordpress, buddypress and 2012? if that’s the case i would still try 2013 and 2014 first but at that point i would be seeing if it was a server side issue by trying the same scenario on another server.
In reply to: [Resolved] Members not activatinghave you tried isolating plugin conflicts?
admin i believe for all buddypress backend options.
In reply to: Blank page after registrationglad to help!
if you are talking about editing the regular wordpress profile fields from the front end the same way you edit the extended buddypress profiles that may be part and parcel with a feature i am currently lobbying for for 2.0 which is the merger of the two, both fronted and back.
if that’s something you’d also like to see or is what you are trying to accomplish then i would urge you to enter this code patch as a ticket in trac:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org
and while you’re at it please take the survey for any other input you have as far what you’d like to see for buddypress 2.0 i believe today’s meeting is where the new features will be scoped so the next few hours could be the last chance to give your input:
also if you want to attend the devchat itself it’s held on irc at 20:00 UTC every wednesday on the channel #buddypress-dev
if you do not have an irc client you can use the web browser version here:
hope to see you there!
CORRECTION: the feature scoping has been postponed until next week.
the front end buddypress profile is not connected to the backend one (for the most part) you may be missing the fact that the front end profile fields need to be set by you in the profile fields section of your users settings in wp admin. those fields are only editable from the front end by default.
In reply to: Blank page after registrationyou can find your version by click the little wordpress logo in leftmost position of the top admin bar. your question lacks the necessary details to give much specific help but it sounds like there maybe be an issue with your theme or a plugin interfering with the normal registration process. those are probably somewhat dangerous to be messing with if you don’t know what you’re doing but you can try deactivating your plugins one at a time or switching to the default wp theme to see if you can isolate the issue. Some themes will lose certain settings when you switch but most good themes should not.
In reply to: Buddypress Analytics Pluginthat plugin works fine with buddypress but analytics itself doesn’t really treat bp pages any different from any other. You can set up filters, views and other GA settings to get a better picture. You might also want to check this plugin out its not free ($16 dollars i believe) but it is specifically designed to give you buddypress specific behavior analytics:
In reply to: BP 1.9.1 Compatibilityyou are incorrect.
In reply to: Migrating to a new site: blogs instead of forumsif you have converted your group based forums to the new site wide forums i believe you can by using a post type switching plugin (i believe forum posts are just custom post types). You might need to do some re-write rules or something to make sure the links still work though. I would strongly advise you to try this whole scenario out on a staging or test server first before attempting it on your live site though.
In reply to: Housekeeping after delete-acounti was wondering about that same thing as i was replying 🙂
In reply to: Membership Reportingit’s awesome i got a sneak peak on this definitely recommend it for any active BP site. awesome stuff @shanebp !
In reply to: Dealing with deleted members (Redirects)yeah ok i guess that does present a UX issue but you can’t really delete or even filter other members content because that will cause bigger problems i think. So unless you talking about re-directing to something which is a 404 but you don’t want to come up as a 404 I’m not sure what could be done.
In reply to: Housekeeping after delete-acounti believe the blog posts are actually handled by wordpress (usually by re-assigning or deleting post by your choice). everything else besides private messages i believe get erased along with the user.
