    @btees you are not setting this up correctly, when you use the meta_query, you need to specify the key (not meta key) and the value (not meta_value).

    array(
        'meta_query' => array(
            'key' => 'bpcat',
    	'value' => $industry
        )
    ),

    I’ve combined this code into a plugin with some extra options: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-profile-activity-wall/

    I’m really glad you’ve cracked it, Still don’t really understand why I could not get it to fail. Great find, I’m sure it’s going to be of help to others.

    Hi there, to get around the issue with posting your code I’ve added it to the bottom of my webpage BuddyPress Customisation Tips:

    you can find this page in the snippets section of buddyuser.com

    Hi there,

    I think there’s two functions you would be interested in. One to redirect the logged in user too their activity page when they view the homepage and one to redirect them to their activity page following login.

    Unfortunately I can’t seem to post the code, it must be some anti spam software playing up.

    If I’m reading this right you want the users activity page to be the default home page for the site. I think the way to do this would be via a redirect after login. IS that what you are looking for?

    I guess one option would be to use a text widget to display the profile fields using shortcodes such as are provided with BP Profile Shortcodes Extra. Then you’d just need to hide these from displaying in the page content which could be a simple case of some CSS?

    Do you mean the sitewide activty page? wouldn’t you just select the Activity Page as the static home page?

    @venutius

    That’s great! I was thinking you wanted to record the activity but just not display it and got stuck in treakle, glad you found that hook.

    I’m confused, the users activity page is the default home page in BuddyPress. It goes to the personal activity page. I’m sorry if I or anyone else here gave you that impression. I recently wrote a thread which explained how to create a new combined activity page for the user and set that as the new default landing page. It’s slightly complex but very doable:

    how to combine activity tabs to one

    Found the problem, the above code should give you something to play with.

    What I’ve been playing with is this placed in your child themes functions.php-

    function bpex_execute_shortcode() {

    	if ( class_exists( 'BP_Featured_Members' ) ) {
    		echo do_shortcode( '[bp-featured-members]' );
    	}
    }

    add_action( 'bp_before_members_loop', 'bpex_execute_shortcode' );

    But it’s not working. I’m sure you should be able to do aomething like that

    It’s not something I’ve experience at but my first choice would be to take a look at an exisiting plugin doing something similar and use that as a template. Something like creating a merge of https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-xprofile-rich-text-field/ and the bp code for creating a date field.

    What you could do is apply to translate that text, otherwise it’s a case of waiting until someone else does.

    translate.wordpress.org (GlotPress)

    The original english in those files it sent to a file called buddypress.pot, from this the WordPress translators create country specific .mo files. I’m wondering if the language file for your country is missing this translation. It could very well be the case as this was only recently introduced.

    ‘The links don’t show up in the menu when I look at it via Appearance>>menus. I don’t get it.’

    They must be automatically getting added by MemberPress, you could try deactivating MemberPress, then you will know.

    If you go to Appearance/Menus in WP Admin, you should be able to edit the menu and delete those links. While you are there, click on Page Options on the top right of the page and make sure BuddyPress is checked.

    Note: it looks like you have multiple menus so you will have to select the correct menu to edit.

    Then you should see the BuddyPress menu links meta-box and you will see there’s a login link you can add to the menu. That should sort out your BuddyPress login, same with Register.

    I’ve got a site buddyuser dot com, I’ve created a beginners introduction to BuddyPress, you might want to take a look at that.

    It’s possible to hide menu links that you don’t want the general public to know about. There’s a few plugins that do this but one I use is https://wordpress.org/plugins/nav-menu-roles/ this adds a handy checkbox to allow you to stipulate who can see that menu item.

    There’s two locations for that text Anders depending on which BuddyPress theme you are using. there’s:

    wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/data.php on line 49.

    and there’s wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-nouveau/buddypress/members/single/data.php also on line 49.

    Do you think it’s missing from your countries translation file?

    Oh you want to display something actually in the field loop, here’s the hook for that – bp_profile_field_item

    That’s all the hooks on that page. If you want to do something different to that then you would probably need to overload the profile-loop.php template file. it’s in plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/your-bp-theme/members/single/profile/profile-loop.php. You’d edit a copy of that then put it in themes/your-child-theme/buddypress/members/single/profile

    Hi,

    I’ve just had another look at your register link, for BuddyPress it’s incorrect, it’s showing as sitename.com/register/member, if this is default BuddyPress it should be sitename.com/register

    I think you’d have to write a custom profile field which retained the date of birth on edit, but displayed the age when viewed. As a first option I’d ask the developers of the few xprofile custom fields plugins if they’d consider adding it as an option.

    @venutius

    That would be pretty difficult to do, or at least it’s not trivial. The issue is that the function used to populate the activity page does not have the ability to filter based on post settings, so you’d have to create a function to do that. Probably you’d end up overloading the activity page and displaying your own custom activity loop which took into account the post taxonomies.

    @venutius

    The issue is that the function used to display the members list does not check for user roles, so you’d have a bit of coding to work around that. It can search on user meta and that’s exacty what BP Featured Members does to create the featured members list so in the end you would create something very similar to that plugin. It’s possible also possible to insert your own content at the top of the Activity page but again you’ll end up writing a plugin to do that.

    Found your register page, first thing I’d try is to resave your permalink settings in Settings>>Permalinks

    Hi there,

    The login link is not buddypress, it’s got the option [PM_Login] so would assume it’s by a plugin with PM in the title. You should be able to delete this in the Appearance>>Menus page though. Same with the registration link, it’s PM_Registeration so the same plugin caused that.

    Whats the slug of your BuddyPress register page?
