In reply to: How to add report/block member option?
Though it’s no longer being developed, I’m still using Wangguard, which includes that feature.
og:Title is in there too.
I don’t think it would be a quick fix; 2000+ lines of code in the index alone, but I did notice it seems to have support for the description.
In reply to: Additional profile field duplicationI’ve not seen anything off the shelf that will do that.
Seems like the plugin is abandoned too, which is a shame, it’s not been out that long. One option would be to for this plugin and add the features yourself I suppose?
In reply to: Email notification with excerpt onlyPresumably this is referring to the BuddyPress Group Email Subscription plugin? Have you tried rasing this as a feature request on that plugins forums?
In reply to: How to add report/block member option? There’s BuddyBlock, that seems to do what you are looking for.
In reply to: Assign Members PageTry deactivating all other plugins, this is most likely a plugin conflict I would think.
In reply to: Create News Feed like FacebookI think there’s a few ways of achieving this, for one thing there’s a bunch of plugins that change the default activity feed in the members howmepage. Take a look at https://buddydev.com/plugins/facebook-like-user-activity-stream-for-buddypress/ That would make a good start.
Another way is to Overload the activity-loop page in BuuddyPress, this basciall does what the plugins do, but without a plugin. You can take the default page from the plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/activity-loop.php and change the way the activity filters work for your site. It’s a bit more advanced but there’s plenty of forum posts about doing it.
In reply to: Alternative to XprofileI had a response from wp.org, they will not discuss plugins that have been closed. I guess one option is to create a complete clone of this plugin, with identical settings, and use that instead. It does mean that all 7,000 current users will be blissfully unaware of the solution unless they go looking though, so not ideal.
In reply to: Disable comments in activityYou should be able to do that, with a filter to only display the What’s new box if the logged in user name is the same as the displayed user name. by overloading the activity/post-form.php file.
Check out BP Template Overloader to help you manage your template overloads.
In reply to: Is there not a list of shortcode anywhere?Hi Steve, just so you know, I’ve upissued BP Profile Shortcodes Extra today with a new Profile Lists options to create lists of suggested friends and groups, those might help with your dashboard? Let me know if you think there are other features to add.
In reply to: How to update widget? The link does not work, I’ve no idea which widget you are talking about.
In reply to: Alternative to XprofileI’ve emailed WP.org about it. Surely someone could take it over and fix the issues.
In reply to: Alternative to XprofileAh that makes sense. I guess it depends what fields you need.
In reply to: Cannot activate userI’ve not been able to so far on my test server.
In reply to: Assign Members PageCheck Dashboard>>Settings>>BuddyPress>>Pages and make sure the BP Members component is assigned to your members page.
If that’s the case then it’s likely something is messing with BP.
In reply to: Cannot activate userOn my test server, changing the permalink the way you did seems to break the email process for signups permanently, I’m not able to recover from it. I’m thinking a workaround might be to install a different email system, like an SMTP plugin, but right now that’s a long shot.
In reply to: Cannot activate userhttp://starwarscards.net/registerswc/ works for me
In reply to: Cannot activate userI’d create a new register page, but that might not be the end of your problems.
In reply to: Cannot activate userYep I can confirm that method does not work, to change the page, create a new page and link it in the Settings>>BuddyPress>>Pages options.
The email address in the settings>>General page is not the one WP uses to send notifications.
In reply to: Cannot activate userHow did you change the link to the registration page? Presumably this is what caused that issue. I’ve not had to do that myself so am unaware of what issues it may cause.
Regarding some users not getting activation emails. Are you using the default wordpress email address (wordpress@yoursite.com) some mail providers block these default emails and you can change the default email to something mre specific to your site using a plugin such as CB Change Mail Sender.
In reply to: Messages including random usersWhat I’m thinking is that you’ve somehow messed up your WP users database table. I suggest using a dbase clean up plugin such we WP Sweep to see if that fixes it.
In reply to: Cannot activate userLook for the table ending in _users, you should be able to browse it, go to the bottom of the table and see if there are users with an activation key recorded.
In reply to: Cannot activate userThat depends on your hosting arrangements. Many providers offer access to the database via phpMyAdmin.
