I agree. I would consider throwing in a few bucks. Their are a few plugins already created that work with MU, however they need to be buddypress friendly.

Thats about right…the developer is going to make a new media plugin for €800 …with features we all need and more.
Therefore , more persons on the cheap it is?
I’ll throw in 50 to 100 dollars. So far, we have 3 people in and 17 more to go?

GPO – how long of a time frame did the developer give you? Lets start throwing together the money and get it going…. Excuse my excitement. 
Zohar – I love the Kaltura plugin – this would be a great addition. Has anyone seen if the current instance works on MU?

I recommend against using Fundable.com as they require $30 plus a % of the take to raise the money. That service is better for larger sums.
Give me the name of a responsible person who is dedicated to this project. Give me their PayPal email address and I’ll send them my $50 today.
Kaltura is also a fav of mine.
The update on the developer is this, would start early next year. And I’ve not set any time frame because I wanted to know how many people interested in this project.
We need more persons..
There is a problem about license, what shall we use or do we give it out free for all after paying for it?
So far we still only have 3 ($150 bucks). If no-one else is willing to chip in then i say we charge for the plugin until the development cost is covered. Any other ideas?

So far the charge is $300-$400 ! if you like this feature than I’ve let him know.

Currently I embed videos in my WordPress sites w/ Vodpod. It works with almost any video hosting site but it’s not the best solution. Have yet to test it on buddypress.
I was part of an online community called the ORG that had a very slick solution. All media was entered into one media entry box. Just by adding the URL to the flickr photo or YouTube video the site took care of seeking out the proper embed code and placed it in the photos gallery or video gallery. No idea how “Support and Comfort” did it but it sure was handy.
dimensionmedia, thats sounds good, but we need to build it for BP. The solution am thinking of is Kaltura (all in one) plugin for wordpress.
The developer just needs to adapt it to user profile..

if the only things is integrating that plugin in bp i think i could make it…
Integrating something in sidebar it’s not difficult for me, but i think that integrating videos that generally are published like posts is a bit difficult but not a lot. So, i think i can but i will tell you that tomorrow because now in italy is 03:20 am and i’ve to go sleeping now

Possibilities are that:
The easiest way Profile & Blog: every user must have a blog and each video that they publish is published in his profile, but videos can be found at as his blog, too. (Updating profile & blog publishing a video).
The most difficult way Only Profile: it’s not important having a blog or not, because the video will be published only on the profile
There is a difference of developing time for each way.. The difficult way it’s better but require more time and more finance
