Are you using the BP template pack plugin to integrate BP with the theme? If so, make sure it’s active.
In reply to: Why shold I choose BP?Apples & oranges, which is better?
In reply to: Confirmation e-mails aren’t being sent.Bluehost is a *recommended* host for single WP for casual users. That’s different than being “the best”. And they pay to be listed on the WP.org site.
In reply to: I don’t update. Is this a bad thing? To me, it depends on if you’ve updated WordPress or not. The last couple small releases were critical security upgrades.
In reply to: Any successful Buddypress site? It;s all down to available RAM and how many visits, not users.
In reply to: Buddypress free child themes not workingThere’s not enough details here to troubleshoot anything.
Free custom child themes from where? The repo? They all have different authors.
Have they each been updated for the latest version of BuddyPress? (I know for sure two have not.)
In reply to: Why shold I choose BP?BuddyPress is first and foremost a social network – the forums are attached to Groups and are a small component of the overall plugin. And the forum aspects can be disabled.
So… if you’re looking for just a forum, look for a forum plugin.
In reply to: subsites accessing to community functions ?Yes.
Allow BuddyPress to function on multiple blogs of a WPMU installation, not just on one root blog:
define ( ‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true );Put that in wp-config.php
In reply to: Not getting activation emailEmails are *not* a WordPress issue. They are 99.9% issues with the host or your ISP. Every. Single. Time.
The reason they get dumped into trash or blocked by your ISP is becasue they are sent thru php mailer and have different header son them. Which is entirely due to the way your box is set and (as repeatedly mentioned) the way your ISP handles them on receipt.
In reply to: Cannot post new topic on forumMe too.

If you’re using GenesisConnect, please keep questions over on that support forum.

Usually, Buddypress links are all on the blog where BP is activated. They do not go across all blogs unless you add a line to the config file. (like you see in our demos)
In reply to: is there any back up and restore plugin exist“specifically designed for wpmu or buddypress”
There doesn’t need to be – just pick one of the many that grabs *all* the database tables.
In reply to: How to allow members to create their own blogs?Note for future searchers, there’s also a free ebook on setup for multisite:
http://wpebooks.com/2010/09/how-to-enable-multisite-in-wordpress/
In reply to: How do I edit/customise the members profile page?A link to your site always helps, becasue a lot depends on the theme you’re using.

no, I was referring to the fact that core wordpress only shows a user’s blog under “My sites” that they are admin on.
If you alreayd have users with blog, and then add buddypress, then yes – this has been a persistant issues. BP doesn’t automagically go find them all.
In reply to: BuddyPress/WordPress Menu IssuesAre you on a Windows server?
In reply to: Members, groups and Member Blog pages not workingSounds like a server config.
“Permission denied” means look at the physical file or folder on the server. WP or bbpress does not have permission to write to it. (CHMOD)
No idea what;s up with your links, but all the slashes are stripped out.
In reply to: Buddypress / Multisite issue“I recently used the plugin Enable Multi-Site to configure WordPress Multi-Site for my Buddypress install. “
Seriously – this is not recommended. I always recommend people set it up manually. the plugin only does 2 or 3 things for you – not the whole business and it doesn’t do any server checks that need a human eye.
‘If I try to navigate back to the main URL, I get nothing but a blank screen. Strange….”
No, not strange – it’s a common error called a white screen of death.
It means you have some php messed up somewhere. Can you get in to admin? Go in there, disable plugins. 90% chance something in there does not work with multisite.
“Permission denied”
This is what you need to fix.
No, becasue that’s how core multisite works.
In reply to: my new user dont see template and dont use wp-adminIt’s not a BP issue – he asked the same thing in the multisite forum.
In reply to: WHOLE Forum section malfunctioningIt’s cutting off like that because you have a php error. Find the error logs on the server and start reading.
“all of a sudden” means something changed somewhere. Did you enable & disable anything? tick some options? add a widget?
In reply to: WTF? Disable Blog creation during registration“WOW, I did the above mentioned items and I am still getting hammered with spam blogs. I have no idea what to do now, I am already making a sacrifice by taking away blog creation during signup. “
Start looking at access logs. If you have no way to check how they are getting in, then you have very little luck in stopping them.
have you DELETED the exisiting spam users? Because if you;re just deleting the blogs they create and leaving the spam users…. they just create more.
