When you use the register.php file – /wp-signup.php is no longer used. You should change any links to /register
Of course if you don’t want this functionality just don’t put register.php in your theme. The only problem with wp-signup.php is that it’s not easy to customize.
There will be an extension pack launching soon.
plugin-sidebar.php
plugin-template.php
register.php
activate.php
In reply to: wp-signup vs registerCopy register.php and activate.php from buddypress-home into your own theme. Make any HTML mods you need.
In reply to: BuddyPress Theme ContestYou should extend the deadline Daniel. With the downtime and people only really finding out about this in the last week, it’s not long enough to think about, design and build a decent theme. Just my 2 cents.
In reply to: Conceptual problem about themesYou should think of a home theme as just a standard WordPress blog theme. It is no different other than a few new files to handle directories.
A member theme is a “BuddyPress” theme, and should probably be called that.
You should treat them as two entirely different themes, your WordPress theme should have the styles and images for just the WordPress parts and your BuddyPress theme should have the styles and images for just the BuddyPress parts.
You could of course still provide the two themes in one download package, but they should still work independently. It’s not a good idea at all to make the themes dependent on one another. Someone may want to use your member theme but keep their own blog theme.
I’ll be writing more docs on this soon.
In reply to: SEO problem in BuddyPressThis is only if you install the BuddyPress home theme. It should not do this if you just use your existing theme.
In reply to: Need help with Facebook Connect issuesI would honestly love to fix help with these things, but I don’t expect to get any time to work on the Facebook plugin for a while. There are plenty of competent developers out there who I’m sure will be able to fix these things up. I got it working on testbp.org and that was my main goal to begin with.
In reply to: Avatar Problems (Hopefully) SolvedThe problems are not related at all. The Facebook avatars are not even stored on your server, they’re remotely fetched. I’m closing this one because it’s really old and irrelevant now.
In reply to: BP-MarkItUp 0.1 enables markItup! in your buddypressMake sure you submit this to the WP plugin repo and tag it with “BuddyPress” in your readme file.
In reply to: Albums and statusYou can expect the roadmap to become clearer after the first release. Right now it’s just about getting there.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginI’d be happy to see others extend this more with some of the things mentioned. It’s unlikely I will have time to look at extending the functionality for quite a few weeks to come. I just got this working for fun on a Sunday.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginWill only work with the latest trunk and latest WPMU sorry.
In reply to: Required profile fields added later? What happens? No. Next time they edit that group of fields, they will not be able to save until they fill in the required fields.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginChange /plugins/bp-fbconnect/wp-facebookconnect/config.php line 8.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginExtract the files in the ROOT of the plugins dir not in a /bpfbconnect/ folder.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginIf you are using a different theme – then put this line where you want the button to show:
<?php do_action(‘fbc_display_login_button’); ?>
In reply to: BP-FBConnect Plugin@donncha: Just log out and look at the home page.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginAs it says in the first post, you must be running the trunk version, this will not work with RC-1.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginNo, because Facebook does not give you access to user’s email address.
It’s not possible to change your member slug right now, but it could be possible in the future. Not important enough at the moment though.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect Pluginfamous: if you have the latest trunk version, you do not need to do anything, I’ve taken care of the button posting code with hooks. It should auto add the Facebook Connect button to your search-signup bar in the header.
In reply to: Need help with tracYou can automate the process though – if you search for “using diff files” or “using patch files” on google you should be able to work it out. I would very much recommend against doing that sort of thing manually.
In reply to: I GIVE UP.. wp-recaptcha WT%^&Attach it to the action ‘signup_extra_fields’ and it will show up.
In reply to: Problem with translations!?Make sure you are using the trunk and not RC1.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect PluginYour username will be your full name if you have a public profile on Facebook. If you do not have a public profile then it will be facebookuserX – pretty simple really.
In reply to: BP-FBConnect Pluginfamous: It won’t unfortunately. If you already have an account, you’ll have to use that unless you delete it and start a new one. One step at a time.
