    Why try to reinvent the wheel? Try this:

    BuddyPress Sitewide Activity Widget

    If that doesn’t work for you then at least study the code to see where you are going wrong.

    I would ask the 3rd party plugins you mentioned on their support forum as they would probably have more insight on the issue you are having. Good luck!

    Code changes all the time and resurrecting an old post is not good. You need to create a new topic because what may applied then may not apply now.
    @mercime @hnla Can the site be adjusted to lock these old topics after a predetermined time interval so they are left just a reference point? We constantly repeat ourselves on this so it would be nice if there was an automated way to lock all of the old topics after a certain time period where when the moderators feel that the info is dated, then it requires the user to create a new topic instead of replying to old out of date info. Anything over a year to me is outdated but you have more experience in this than I. Anyway it is just an idea so don’t take it negatively. Thanks!

    The code I provided calls the current user dynamically if that is what you are wondering. Even thought it is one link it will take each user to their edit profile field group you created. Feel free to experiment around with it. Try these as well:

    <a href="<?php global $current_user; echo home_url() . '/' . $current_user->user_login . '/profile/edit/group/1/'; ?>">Edit My Profile</a></div>

    Or:

    if ( is_user_logged_in() ) {
    <a href="<?php echo bp_loggedin_user_domain(); ?>">Profile</a>//link to users profile
    <a href="<?php global $current_user; echo home_url() . '/members/' . $current_user->user_login . '/friends/'; ?>">Friends</a>//link to users friends
    <a href="<?php global $current_user; echo home_url() . '/members/' . $current_user->user_login . '/messages/'; ?>">Messages</a>//link to users messages
    }

    As a final thought if you add those links I would wrap them in a conditional to check if the user is logged in like the links just above.

    This link should work below. You could also add an image to replace the text providing you know some basic html.

    <a href="<?php global $current_user; echo home_url() . '/' . $current_user->user_login . '/profile/edit/group/2/'; ?>">Edit My Profile</a></div>

    They are not visible until the user fills them out. In the My Account Menu at the top right hover over it and select Profile/Edit. When you are on the next screen below the profile tabs you will see “Base” and whatever other field group you created. By default you will be on “Base” these fields are the ones that correspond with your registration form. The other Field Group button you made will display the other fields you created within that field group. This is assuming your theme is functioning correctly. If you are still having issues you may want to try some basic troubleshooting by activating a known theme that works well with BP like Twenty Twelve or bp-default as well as disabling any plugins other than BP. Good luck!

    You may want to update your topic title because the code you are showing is from activity-loop.php not members-loop.php

    Don’t really see what that has to do with based on the title of your topic. I am not certain of any plugin you could allow users to create a page from the front end but you can try BuddyDev’s BuddyBlog here:

    You may want to try basic troubleshooting by deactivating all plugins other than BuddyPress including the WPMU DEV Membership plugin and also try activating a known theme that works well with BuddyPress such as Twenty Twelve or bp-default. Then test the registration and see if the issue still persists. The idea here is to isolate what is causing your issue and unfortunately since that plugin and theme is premium from WPMU DEV a lot of volunteers here will not have access to them to help you resolve the issue, so you will most likely have to rely on WPMU DEV for support unless someone here does have access to those plugins and can offer you assistance. Good luck!

    You still may want to double check because there has been instances where a theme caused the creation of extra registration and activate pages and if the correct one is not associated then it will produce a 404 page not found error.

    Sounds like you did not associate the register and activate pages yet. This happens when you fail to go to dashboard/settings/general and click the box beside “Membership Anyone can register” before installing BuddyPress. If that is the case then you need to go to dashboard/settings/buddypress/pages and use the dropdown menu’s to select those pages then click “Save Settings.” As far as a theme goes there is tons out there, but I would suggest staying away from bloated themes that have more features than you will ever need because it only further complicates the set-up and you will have to depend on the themes authors for support and from my experience even with premium themes there is a slow response time. As far as testing goes I would use a localhost with something like XAMPP:
    http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html
    Reason being is you do you want your competition seeing what your creating by having it on even a free live server because they could steal your idea and get the jump on a metal based community.
    Anyway I hope this helps you out and good luck with your metal site, keep Rock’n!

    Never mind I made a mistake and copied the wrong files over to my child theme and just realized what I did, du-huh!

    It would help if provided more info like theme your using. If you have the proper directory structure the examples I provided will work. Please review:

    Okay I was able to replicate the issue if you use an email as the username. You may want to submit a trac ticket here:

    I can’t replicate your issue. I am using WP 3.6, BP 1.8.1, bbPress 2.4, and a child theme of bp-default and it works for me. You may want to give more detail about your installation so the volunteers can try to isolate what may be causing this to fail on your install.

    Its been around 1.6 since I tried filtering the activity stream according to the codex:

    Activity Loop

    Just to see if something had changed I changed this line:

    <?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) ) ) : ?>

    in activity-loop.php in my child theme and made the following modifications:

    <?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) . '&object=status' ) ) : ?>

    As well I tried this:

    <?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) . '&per_page=5' ) ) : ?>

    I also tried this:

    <?php if ( bp_has_activities( bp_ajax_querystring( 'activity' ) . '&scope=friends' ) ) : ?>

    None of them had any effect in the activity stream output. @mercime @hnla What has changed that you can no longer filter with my above examples? It used to work but it has been a while since I fiddled around that area. I am using WP 3.6 and BP 1.8.1 and a very basic child theme of bp-default. Thanks!

    You cant send invites until you have friend connections even if your the owner of the group. However if Tom owns a group that is set to public then Jane can join that group.

    As of BP 1.7+ bbpress is a seperate install. Try following the below instructions.
    1.) Go to dashboard/settings/buddypress/components and check the box “User Groups”
    2.) Install and activate bbpress.
    3.) In the front-end go to the groups page and click the button “Create a Group”
    4.) Give the group a name and description, click “Create Group and Continue
    5.) Select your privacy options then click “Next Step”
    6.) Under Group Forum click the box “Yes. I want this group to have a forum.” Click “Next Step.”
    7.) Choose avatar for the group, click “Upload” then crop the image. Click “Next Step”
    8.) Select friends to invite. If you dont have any yet just click “Finish.”
    This should do it. Now you have groups with their own forum. Click the Groups nav button then click the group you created. Below the avatar you will see the tabs Home | Forum | Etc.
    Hope this helps! Good luck!

    No there is no CSS upgrade. The strikethrough indicates that style has been overridden using !important. Look further around the CSS to find what has overridden that particular style and make changes to that and then you should see the changes.

    I tried your plugin and it works as you describe but it would be better if the admin could edit the xprofile fields as well from the dashboard. It is inconvenient for the admin to have to switch between the dashboard to the front-end to edit the xprofile fields. If you can get the plugin to that point it would be very useful.
