In reply to: required Username twice at Registration
You think right. BuddyPress need this field to sync with WordPress.
It’s really confusing for the user to set the username twice.
And what about entering password twice ?Read from here:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/hide-the-username-and-display-firstnamelastname/In reply to: Problems with groups without forumthe pages go directly to groups/name_group/forum, so i have a not found error
Let’s think that you set up forum wrong. Verify your bbPress settings. Or that you added some bbPress shortcodes to the BP group page.
On a correct install of BP/bbP, if a group has a forum, it is because the group creator activated it.
As site admin, go to the group management on front-end and deactivate the forum.
or/and
If you don’t want forum for groups, simply deactivate this option in bbPress settings.
Deactivate also Allow users to create forums in BuddyPress settings. In reply to: How to use bp_member_profile_data when its type URLTake a look at DB tables related to xprofile:
_bp_xprofile_data
_bp_xprofile_fields
_bp_xprofile_groups
_bp_xprofile_metaIf users entered data like
https://twitter.com/comandovictoruse a mysql command to wipe outhttps://twitter.com/via phpMyAdmin.UPDATE table_name SET col_name = REPLACE(col_name, 'old_value', 'new_value');wp_ is default table prefix, change it if you use another prefix.
UPDATE wp_bp_xprofile_data SET col_name = REPLACE(value, 'https://twitter.com/', '');That’s the fastest method. Don’t forget to backup the table BEFORE doing this.
Changing the field type can be done from the xprofile admin.
Yes ! You need to use template overload, then you can remove that part from the template.
While creating a new group:
See bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/groups/create.php
While modifying a group:
bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/groups/single/admin.phpCaution: if you do this, you can only use public or private groups. Hidden groups are “invite users” only.
In reply to: Profile SignatureIt is standard! At least if you use xprofile component to let your users enter their signature.
1) Create a new field. Call it Signature and give it a textarea type.
2) Once this field is edited by a user, during registration or later, the signature appears on his profile.3) if you want this field somewhere else, for ex on the profile header, you simply write a function to call this field and hook it into the template you want.
Ie. Add this to child theme functions.php or bp-custom.php
function my_signature() { if ( bp_is_active( 'xprofile' ) ) if ( $signature = xprofile_get_field_data( 'Signature', bp_get_member_user_id() ) ) : // field name; case sensitive echo $signature; endif; } add_filter( 'bp_before_member_header_meta', 'my_signature' );Or to use Henry’s advice
add_filter( 'bp_after_profile_content', 'my_signature' );Reference

In reply to: [Resolved] How To Get Notification Count? (Code)? You want to attach BP’s user menu to your custom howdy which is on the left, if i believe the screenshot.
And that is explained on WP codex and probably somewhere on this forum.
See template entry.php
Caution: modification are preferably done via child-theme.

In reply to: [Resolved] How To Get Notification Count? (Code)?hi ailyroot,
no time to sort out what you need, but see here 3 snippets using different wya to add such item to a theme main menu or custom menu, with fixed or free position… Test and take the one you need.
//fixed position function my_nav_menu_notif_counter($menu) { if (!is_user_logged_in()) return $menu; else $notif = '<li>Notif '. bp_notifications_get_unread_notification_count( bp_loggedin_user_id() ) .'</li>'; $menu = $menu . $notif; return $menu; } add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_items', 'my_nav_menu_notif_counter' ); //choose position function my_nav_menu_positioned_notif_counter( $items, $args ) { if( $args->theme_location == 'primary' ) // only for primary menu { $items_array = array(); while ( false !== ( $item_pos = strpos ( $items, '<li', 3) ) ) { $items_array[] = substr($items, 0, $item_pos); $items = substr($items, $item_pos); } $items_array[] = $items; array_splice($items_array, 0, 0, '<li>Notif '. bp_notifications_get_unread_notification_count( bp_loggedin_user_id() ) .'</li>'); // 0,0 is first position, 1,0 is second, etc $items = implode('', $items_array); } return $items; } add_filter('wp_nav_menu_items','my_nav_menu_positioned_notif_counter', 10, 2); // depending the theme, $theme_location may vary and this one use a menu ID function my_notif_link( $items, $args ) { $theme_location = 'primary';// Theme Location slug $existing_menu_item_db_id = 6; // menu id $new_menu_item_db_id = 66; // unique id number $label = 'Notificationas '. bp_notifications_get_unread_notification_count( bp_loggedin_user_id() ); $url = bp_core_get_user_domain(bp_loggedin_user_id()) .'notifications/'; if ( $theme_location !== $args->theme_location ) { return $items; } $new_links = array(); if ( is_user_logged_in() ) { // only if user is logged-in, do sub-menu link $item = array( 'title' => $label, 'menu_item_parent' => $existing_menu_item_db_id, 'ID' => 'fugit', // menu name 'db_id' => $new_menu_item_db_id, 'url' => $url, 'classes' => array( 'menu-item' ) ); $new_links[] = (object) $item; // Add the new menu item to our array unset( $item ); // in case we add more items below $index = count( $items ); // integer, the order number. // Insert the new links at the appropriate place. array_splice( $items, $index, 0, $new_links ); // 0,0 is first position, 1,0 is second, etc } return $items; } add_filter( 'wp_nav_menu_objects', 'my_notif_link', 10, 2 );Happy testing 😉
In reply to: Favorites Activity Stream Not WorkingBy default, when using BP’s site wide activity component and if user is logged in, you’ll see a Fav/Unfav button under each activity. This means that you can fav/unfav an activity, not directly a post.

To get a similar button near a blog post, you’re no more on the activty page and need to add a separate code. Read from here how to do this. More or less…
WP Favorite plugin is not made to work with BuddyPress, just aside.
Edit: you’re lucky, found this topic how to make it work.
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/wp-favorite-posts-and-buddypressCore URL’s avaible on a profile activity page are taylored to go to that user, so it is not possible (at least very complicated) to show whole site activity feed on such page.
But you can modify SWA page to show friends activities as first tab (instead ALL) by default
Eventually in WP reading settings, you choose also Activity page as static Front page.Different other methods explained here

In reply to: filter activity loopYour question is a bit unclear: only display updates from new topics and replies
BP jargon:
Updates are messages you add on site wide activity, group or profile activity (what’s new form)New topics are (normaly) related to bbPress forum topics.
And replies can came from, in fact, everywhere. Blog post comments & replies
Ativity comments & replies
Forum comments & replies…Give details please or use one of those methods: template modification or custom function.
