In reply to: Option to change avatar on actual avatar
@kakilo Hi Henry,
not exactly what you asking for, but it’s a solution who narrows.
Consider this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-avatar-suggestions/In reply to: Compatible Forums that work with BuddypressActually you can use BP 1.8.1 with bbPress 2.4 to get what you want.
Since BuddyPress 1.6, bbPress is no more attached to BP groups and can be installed as a standalone full, complete, forum
3 types of install are possible: goup-forums only, single forum only or both.Read here please.
souds like a js conflict.
Track this especially if you use a custom theme or and old themeCould also be a plugin using an old jquery version.
In reply to: Function to update databse fieldsGloabally, each BP member can, by default, modify his profile. So why do you want to add a form for doing this ?
If you speak french, ask on bp-fr.net, i’ll answer you there.
In reply to: Upload Avatar on register page.hi @ananwebman,
accordingly to what brajesh wrote here 2 weeks ago, his plugin works with bp 1.8 ! So, it doesn’t work should be defined much better, or should be discussed directly with the author.
Despite what you write
this is required to approve accounts and discourage users posting incorrect images
the answer is yes and no.
A signup is approved as soon as the subscriber send back the validdation key received by email.
Now his account exist and is active, ok ?But if you allow any upload during the subscription process, it’s as like you allow a unknow user to upload a unknow document on your server. What about this uploaded picture if you decide to ban or delete that user ?
This is against any security policy, don’t you think so ?
It’s best practice to not allow anything to a user before his account is approved by the site admin and evtl. some security plugins.
In reply to: BuddyPress Courseware not appearing in control panelhi @caycee !
consider what djpaul answered here:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/wesley-daniel-chain-problem-in-buddypress/#post-171672and on the plugin page
Requires: WordPress 3.2, BuddyPress 1.5 or higher
Compatible up to: WordPress 3.5 / BuddyPress 1.6
Last Updated: 2012-10-9In reply to: Adding classes to profile fieldsTry first and ask after when you receive some help ! π
in the example, simply replace Amount by Budget and give it a try
The function checks for “Budget” and the “foreach” looks for the checked box. So you will finally only see the checked box value. This data can be styled by using this:
div.checkit span {your css stuff}In reply to: No WP admin bar within Members sectionIn reply to: Adding classes to profile fieldsYou create a new field on profile (ie. title=Amount)
This field is a checkbox type field
You have 4 items to check, so you need to create 4 checkboxes.The field name called by the function correspond to the title you give to your new field. So you actually have 1 field name and 4 checkbox values.
The example above will output the checked value by the user on the member profile header (bp_before_member_header_meta)
function my_moneytizer() { if ( $money = xprofile_get_field_data( 'Amount', bp_get_member_user_id() ) ) : foreach ( $money as $mon ) { echo '<br/><div class="checkit">'; echo '<span>Earned today: </span>'; echo $data; echo '</div>'; } endif; } add_filter ( 'bp_before_member_header_meta', 'my_moneytizer' );hi @valuser,
the bp_is_blog_page function is missing to hide the calendar when on BP pages.
The place with the weird output contains an overcomplicated method to show a title. IMHO there is no need to use so many conditionnals to show a post title…. So I replaced it by the h1 stuff used in Twenty Thirteen.
You will probably need some adjustment into CSS too. So far i can see there is no other trouble with BP. Nice theme !
remove/replace the following into /partials/part_article_header.php
<?php // Article calendar if ( bp_is_blog_page() ) : // if it returns true, it's not a BP page. if (!is_page() && !is_search()) : ?> <div class="calendar event_date"> <span class="month"><?php echo strtoupper(get_the_date('M')); ?></span> <span class="day"><?php echo get_the_date('d'); ?></span> <span class="year"><?php echo get_the_date('Y'); ?></span> </div> <?php endif; endif; // ending bp_is_blog_page ?> <h1 class="entry-title"> <?php if ( is_single() ) : ?> <?php the_title(); ?> <?php else : ?> <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>" rel="bookmark"><?php the_title(); ?></a> <?php endif; ?> </h1>In reply to: Senior Buddypresser is this possiblehi @gloopy,
i’m not a DB specialist, but so far i know about mySql, 20 000 or 100 000 entries is quite “nothing”.
Having 20 000 groups is certainly a wide range of groups to show on the Group Directory with somes seconds to handle, so it would be preferably that you think about how to sort them (recent, popular, most visited is implemented by default but also by genre: arcade, fighting, etc)
Don’t know how many members you have/expect, but i doubt that your 20 000 groups will be visited at the same time by 20 000 visitors…. If so (lucky guy), BP would probably by to small for such usage. For the moment, let’s be realistic.
For the other question, searching for group names can be done by default on the group directory page. If you want to allow the same thing from within each group, maybe you could simply add the group directory search box on each group header for example.
In reply to: Remove the Name (required)hi @famous,
so far i know, is the registration process a fully part of WordPress who use a function called wp_create_user.
This function requires 3 variables: name, pwd and user email to authenticate.As a templated plugin, BP let you handle visualy a part of this process, particulary with extended profile fields. But BP doesn’t alter the orignal registry handling. The only 2 other things you can do is to change the NAME field name and allowing synchronization between WP and BP.
So the BP name field stays mandatory in any case and you cannot remove it.
In reply to: Adding classes to profile fieldshi @applegateian,
read here how to fetch checkbox,radio and multiselect datas
1) give each check box a unique name
2) create a filter function with your css items around the echo $data.
3) add the filter to a profile action
4) doneIn reply to: Universal Friendship (or unfriendship)hi@nanaimomen,
sorry to jump in with a probably stupid question. Why do you want to use a community tool like BuddyPress where members are the center of all, and it’s you who decide for them to be friends by default ?
And if it is not possible, you want to remove any possibility to do so, so nobody can feels out ? Are you a little dictator ? π
Probably not.
Please read this codex page and feel free to deactivate the friends component. πHi @debu89,
which updates exactly ? π
Anyway, you have to modify a little the activity template.The reference you need are explained here. Depending on what you want to see, you probably will have to combine several possibilities.
Concretly, do the following
1) create a child theme
2) put a copy of themes/bp-default/activity/activity-loop.php into the /activity/ folder of the child theme.
3) Add a condition at line 32, of the copy just before the while ( bp_activities() )β¦blaβ¦bla
4) close the condition with a endif at line 50, juste before the closing ul tagThe following example (probably not THE solution for your demand) shows the last 3 notices published on different group activities.
<?php if ( bp_has_activities( βobject=groups&action=activity_update&max=3β²) ) : ?> while ( bp_activities() ) ...... ............ endif; </ul> <?php endif; ?>Hold on ! π

In reply to: Member counter on activity page not workinghi @joesell89,
first, remove this wrong
add_filter( 'bp_get_total_member_count', 'bp_core_get_total_member_count' );
from your bp-custom.php. Correct references are in this file: bp-core-template.phpSee if things went well.
Pay attention to the cotes. In your example this line has another typo as the the one used for the function.
The mySql errors are due to mailchimp and wp slim stats plugins. Control first the slim stats settings or search for this problem on the plugin support forum.
Debug by deactivating both, and check if the errors remain.In reply to: [Resolved] Change languageto verify if gettext is enabled localy, you probably have to read your MAMP or WAMP user manual. π
Did you made your translation correctly ? I mean by usig poEdit (or similar software) to generate the compiled mo file ?
Once correctly compiled, the translation file must be in the language themes folder.
wp-content/languages/themes/your_theme-sv_SE.mo
wp-content/languages/themes/buddypress-sv_SE.mo
wp-content/languages/themes/twentythirteen-sv_SE.moetc……
Hi @okuleyeflo,
give this a try. Use it in bp-custom.php or functions.php of your theme.
Tested on BP 1.8.1 with bp-default themefunction bpfr_my_total_friends() { if ( is_user_logged_in() ) : if ( bp_is_active( 'friends' ) ) : echo '<br/><br/>My Total Friends: '. bp_get_total_friend_count( $user_id ) .''; endif; endif; } add_filter ( 'bp_sidebar_me', 'bpfr_my_total_friends');Open bp-default/sidebar.php to see on witch placeholder (do_action…) of the sidebar you want to use the function.
The above example use bp_sidebar_me who shows the counter underneath the login/logout buttonIn reply to: Seeking plugin advice: Google maps + frontend postsHi @number_6,
Members can post from front-end: http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-simple-front-end-post/

Study this plugin or his pro version (very expensive $15 !)

ps: cool radio !
In reply to: [Resolved] Change languageYou have nothing to add to bp-custom.php
If you’re on a local install, verify that the gettext php module is activated.
If you are on a network install, you have to set your language in WP’s settings
The translation file path is wp-content/languages/buddypress-sv_SE.moIn reply to: [Resolved] Charge visitors to upload filesYou probably can consider this plugin as usefull:
