Hallo @marmuel,
what theme do you use ?
Does poEdit generate correctly the.mo file ?
Is the .mo file in the right folder ? (wp-content/languages/buddypress-de_DE.mo)
Are you using some special characters like umlaut, sz, usw ?The string contains a plural form, so it could be possible you omit one ?

hi @matt-mcfarland,
i’m not a dev but consider this, to get a user ID:
$user_id = bp_get_member_user_id();To answer the sql question, here’s a function that doesn’t exist in buddypress, which let you get the xprofile_group name by it’s ID For inspiration…
function bpfr_get_xprofile_group_id_by_name( $name = '' ) { global $wpdb; $bp = buddypress(); if( empty( $name ) ) return false; return $wpdb->get_var( $wpdb->prepare( "SELECT id FROM {$bp->profile->table_name_groups} WHERE name = %s", $name ) ); }For the output, you have to create another function containing at least:
$user_id = bp_get_member_user_id(); $xprofile_group_id = bpfr_get_xprofile_group_id_by_name( 'the groupe name' ); if( !class_exists( 'BP_XProfile_Group' ) ) return false; $args = array( 'profile_group_id' => $xprofile_group_id, 'user_id' => $user_id, 'fetch_fields' => true, 'fetch_field_data' => true );May this help you !

hi @fyreus,
despite you don’t mention your bp version nore the used theme, deactivate all extra group management plugins and consider this solution: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer/how-to-add-members-to-a-group-via-wp-users-screen/
By default, BP let you add members to groups from the frontend if you’re friend and at least group admin. And it’s not a good idea to modify this, IMO. π
hi @dvize,
you making reference to documentation relating to BP 1.5. Many things have changed since 15 versions ! See changelogs here.
But you’re right, searching is a complex thing anyway.To remove the header search box, you have 2 easy solution.
1) create a child theme and remove the form code who is in header.php
2) use CSS to hide the box/* hide the header search box */ form#search-form { display:none; visibility: hidden; }In reply to: Image gallery plugin with buddypresshi @rukiar7,
avaible BuddyPress plugins are listed here.
As BP is only a WordPress plugin, you can use many other plugins aside, and depending your php skills, you can integrate or let them play more or less easily with BP.
Those WP plugins are here.Maybe the only one actually who’s really integrated with BP, you have rtMedia for BuddyPress. Exist also in Pro version. Give it first a try with the standart edition and see if it is working for you.
In reply to: it is just not working – is it the theme,. or?Hi @samgeppi108,
wow what a video you did for such a common issue. PBCAK ! Sorry to say that, this IS working but you haven’t completely set up the right component (profile).
Now the good news. Take a breath man, you’re saved ! In 5 mn you can start your community π
Connect to the WP admin as super-admin. Click on Users on the left col, and select Profile configuration from the sub-menu.
This will open a window where you have by default only one group of fields named BASE. This group is the one showed by default on the register page, so new user can enter some information such as their name, and anything else you want to have in that place.
If you prefer to let them complete their profile skills after registering, you should create a second group of fields on the previous mentionned setting page. You cal add as many groups you want, with as many fields and type of fields you need.
Once done and saved, connect you as a normal user and go to the profile profile setting tab. You will see 2 tabs. Name and X, you just created. You can fill in the fields and save.
If you go on the profile tab, anything will be on !Read here the documentation:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/configure-components/ Users>profile fieldsKeep the Codex in mind, because it’s the first place to go before coming up here to claim “it doesn’t work !” π It does !
@crazycoolcam
thank you for the fix. Works like a charm.
I opened a ticket about this. https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5236#ticketIn reply to: oembed for soundcloud via bbPress in group forumhi @vernonfowler,
i answered a similar question on the french bp support forum. No need for a third party plugin.
I embed a soundcloud track simply by copy/pasting the widget link witch is under the “share” button (the link containing an iframe tag) below the track.The track comes up on a standalone forum, but also on a group forum (on my test site). The track is not visible on the site activity because of the html tag restriction on activity. Can be solved by hooking into bp_activity_allowed_tags (not recommanded)
See here the result.
hi @jaxdestroyer,
play with these example snippets (goes into theme’s functions.php) and see what you can do with it.
Good luck!
/* remove the comment menu */ function bpfr_admin_bar_render() { global $wp_admin_bar; $wp_admin_bar->remove_menu('comments'); // change to your need } add_action( 'wp_before_admin_bar_render', 'bpfr_admin_bar_render' ); */ /* add links/menus to the admin bar */ function bpfr_admin_bar_render() { global $wp_admin_bar; $wp_admin_bar->add_menu( array( 'parent' => 'new-content', // use 'false' for a root menu, or pass the ID of the parent menu 'id' => 'new_media', // link ID, defaults to a sanitized title value 'title' => __('Media'), // link title 'href' => admin_url( 'media-new.php') // name of file 'meta' => false // array of any of the following options: array( 'html' => '', 'class' => '', 'onclick' => '', target => '', title => '' ); )); } add_action( 'wp_before_admin_bar_render', 'bpfr_admin_bar_render' ); /* another example */ function bpfr_custom_myaccount_nav( $wp_admin_bar ) { global $bp; // remove the Settings item and the attached sub menu $wp_admin_bar->remove_node('my-account-settings'); // add My notifications settings as separate item $args = array( 'id' => 'my-account-settings-notifications', 'title' => 'Notifications Settings', // 'parent' => 'my-account', 'parent' => 'my-account-messages', // 'meta' => array('class' => 'menupop') 'meta' => array('class' => 'ab_sub_wrapper') ); $wp_admin_bar->add_node($args); } add_action('admin_bar_menu', 'bpfr_custom_myaccount_nav',100 );Some other examples here
In reply to: How to add item to main activity Subnavhi @okuleyeflo,
the code below puts a tab on the user activity page.
Try it from within your theme’s functions.php filefunction my_setup_nav() { global $bp; bp_core_new_nav_item( array( 'name' => __( 'Item One', 'buddypress' ), 'slug' => 'my-item-one', 'position' => 70 ) ); } add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'my_setup_nav' );Some more details
A little spoon of Codex ?Already discussed and solved here:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/need-activation-key/and a bit older here
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/activation-code-after-new-member-registration/page/2/And of my own experience, i had similar problems in the past due to using the same nav session during the registering process.
In brief, a user’s navigator cache problem.Hope that @djpaul ask on this tread, once more time, about the server type, and that he will finally give a reason or a solution! π
In reply to: PHP ErrorsHi @keiser-media @celticdancer,
The usual answer in this case is: these notice are only notice. A kind of weather report: all hear and read about, but who cares ?
If you see the notice on a production site, deactiveate the debug define in wp-config.
Don’t be afraid by “strict standards” messages. It’s probably because you use PHP 5.4.x or higher. These versions are a little bugy actually. And most shared server are yet under 5.3.x
PS: i encounter the same problem (php 5.4.12) π
In reply to: Sidebar only on certain pageshi @o0s0o,
deTube is a premium theme, so do’t expect help about here here. You have to ask on the ThemeForest forum.
> iβm using BP 1.8 and donβt see any calls to the sidebar in any of the BP templates.
BP 1.8+ fits to any WP theme, so what you want to do depends of your theme, not of BP.That said, all BP templates have calls to the sidebar.
If you open index.php for exemple, in the bp-default theme, you will see at the end of the file
get_sidebar();
The sidebar code is in sidebar.phpTo apply a condition for a sidebar to be shown you can use
if is_page():
get_sidebar;
endif;WP Codex:
is_page
get_sidebardeTube has many option and also a sidebar.
deTube is working with BP

WP settings > discussion options, that “user must be logged in and connected to comment” is checkedIn reply to: [Resolved] WordPress comments in Activityhi @trinzia,
don’t ask here about YOUR security settings ! We are not reading in chicken guts or in cristal bowls. π
Also, if you use BP 1.8+, a solution given over a year back cannot work (most of time)
See here an old discussion with a recent answer (2 mounth) – has patch.
But before to do something, check your WP settings if comments are allowed and/or if comments are allowed for your test post (sorry for this, but… nobody’s perfect ! π )
Also, if you cheched site indexing by robots (settings > reading) it may be possible that the comments won’t show up on the activity wall.
Encountered this a few mounth back with bbPress forum answers on a bp 1.7/bbp 2.3 installIn reply to: Activity Stream post voting/sortingBP has no post, it’s WP. π
BP has no rating system, so you need to create it first or use a rating plugin for the blog posts. And probably the votes won’t show up in the activities. I’m afraid that what you want will need some custom coding. πCan’t help you more, but here are some usefull resource.

hi @jimmmy
Give this a try. Copy/paste into your theme’s functions.php or into bp-custom.php
- – The code will only apply on the members profile page.
- – Add if /endif for each field you need
- – The message will appear under the username. Do get this on the bp-default theme, The first echo containing BR is probably mandatory.
- – The field name is case sensitive.
function bpfr_my_message_on_profile () { echo '<br>Test my message<br>'; if ( !$data = bp_get_profile_field_data( 'field=your_field_name_1' ) ) : echo xprofile_get_field_data( 'your_field_name', bp_displayed_user_id() ) .'The message to display 1<br>'; endif; if ( !$data = bp_get_profile_field_data( 'field=your_filed_name_2' ) ) : echo xprofile_get_field_data( 'your_field_name_2', bp_displayed_user_id() ) .'The message to display 2<br>'; endif; } add_filter( 'bp_before_member_header_meta', 'bpfr_my_message_on_profile' );In reply to: Tag Cloud – set number of tagsIn reply to: How do I get the user ID of an activityHi @leon-craggs
