Read first here:In reply to: Profile URL called from OutsideA faster solution would be to publish your code on pastebin (or similar), so we can check what you already did and where to solve eventually an error or issue.
How do you call ../members/userXX/profile/edit/group/1/ ?
In reply to: How to avoid spam registration in buddypressThere is no magic recipe against spam.
Following some basic recommendation is a first step.
No user called “admin”, no tables prefix beginning with wp_ and so on.
Avoid publishing your site url as long as you have a “spam hole” is also a good practice….https://codex.wordpress.org/Hardening_WordPress
https://codex.wordpress.org/Combating_Comment_Spam/Denying_AccessIn reply to: Edit Group and Profile TemplatesBuddyPress templates are stored in bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/
To customize your theme, create first a child-theme.
In this folder, add a folder called buddypress and copy any file you want to modify into it from /bp-legacy/, by respecting the original path child-theme/buddypress/members/xxx.php or /child/buddypress/activity/xxx.phpMore details are avaible on codex.
In reply to: Wrong Member CountThis phenomenom is normal.
Once a user has registered, he is considered as pending untill he connect and login to the site.
Many user register, receive an activation key and come back a few hours or day later to connect for the first time as site mebers.
That’s why you have 28 entries in the table and 22 on members directory. 6 entries have never connected.
You can follow such members via members admin, under pending list.
In reply to: Changing labels without localizationNo, it’s the best way. And you can always selectively deactivate automated updates.
In reply to: Does BuddyPress works? You need to install WP at first and make it work correctly before installing BuddyPress.
Refer to WP codex and follow install instruction. At this time, you have no BP installed, so come back once it is done and only if you have an issue.
Getting started is avaible on both codex, and the start begins with WP.
Have a nice day.

In reply to: Not able to create group from user groups tabhi @buendiadas,
first of, you have to activate this feature in BP settings
wp-admin/admin.php?page=bp-settingsSecond, create a group button is only avaible (by default) on the group directory and on the usermenu Groups > create a group (top right under Howdy).
Now, where do you want such extra button exactly ?

https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/In reply to: Installed Buddypress but several things won’t work.witnessescity.com/registration/ = 404 error
means that you have no page called registration.
When activation and registration pages are not automatically created, you should do this manuallySee on BP settings Page tab. Check also the other components pages.
Have you set up pretty permalinks ?
Please read the doc
In reply to: Minimum password strengthThat plugin is working. I tested it on
my-site/members/member_name/settings/andmy-site/register/But it doesn’t work on adminmy-site/wp-admin/profile.phpAnd that is not a problem, because users can manage anything related to their account on front-end. Under condition you disallow wp-admin access to your members.
How would you force users to change their password once they are registered ?
Asking them to do so ?
Remove their password ?
How can you know the strength of an encrypted user password ?If you remove the password, they are no more members, so they have anyway to register again. And in this case the plugin becames very usefull.
In reply to: Display one activity post by IDSee here how you can do that
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/calling-a-post-authors-activity-stream/The unique field coming with BP xtended profile is called Name by default. This field name can be changed and you can add some specific description to it to fit your need.
On the register page you have on the left the 3 mandatory fields from WP
username
password
emailon the right BP’s Name field in which you can enter first and last name.
In reply to: nickname clears first_name and last_nameYou forgot to mention your bug report:
https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6428In reply to: Minimum password strengthHave you tried this plugin ?
https://wordpress.org/plugins/buddypress-secure-passwords/Also:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/strong-passwords/#post-187635it feels like “Groups” are one of the biggest draws to BuddyPress that makes it more social
It’s one of the interrest of BuddyPress, indeed !
Yes, you can remove status from the template. Search this forum, the’re many topics about this subject.
You could remove this from groups/single/home.php – needs just a template overload.
<div id="message" class="info"> <p><?php bp_group_status_message(); ?></p> </div>Guess you have to think global at first.
– what is the aim of my site ?
– have i time to manage the community ?
– which tools are already on hand to achieve my goal ?
– Do i need more plugins ?With BP, anything can be commented by default.
In regard of this, a forum is not necessary. But if your members are leaded to discuss, you need a forum, not a comment system.Actually you use a global forum. Why would you modify this, as your members are probably used to using it….
You’re right, commenting or publishing messages to all in a group is a bit confusing. But on other, you’re not obligated to use anything shipped by default. You can remove this feature on some places.
At least this depends of what you really need and want to do.
