In reply to: Is Buddypress’ “Username” field mandatory?
Wonder if this is related to https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6685 ?
In reply to: Welcome e-mailSomeone told me it stopped working a release or two back, so no. 🙂
In reply to: Can I @everyone when I message?I agree a context-sensitive @group is a good idea. I don’t think anything wider reach than “All friends” or “all group members” is a great idea because of how noisy it would be on any decently-sized BP site, but super glad to see you’re exploring the idea in a plugin. That’s how you find out what works and prove the idea 🙂
In reply to: List or grid format for members or groups directoryPretty sure next set of templates will have members as a grid, yes. All of the popular third-party BuddyPress themes have done it like this, so we’d be foolish to not do the same.
Regardless of how you added the users, if you chose to not have emails sent, you need find a WordPress plugin that will do this for you (if any exist — resending emails is a bit niche).
If you added them through BuddyPress on the front-end, emails should have been sent out. I’d start investigating the mail configuration on your server to check it is correctly set up to deliver email.
In reply to: Features and RequestsI am looking into how promptly we may be closing old discussion threads (if we leave them open, someone replies to them months or years later, normally with a “did anyone ever find a solution” etc”, and the discussion’s out of date). I can’t see any threads that you’ve started recently that have been closed, so I’m assuming you meant generally.
Also, we appreciate your feedback. This isn’t the first time you’ve complained about some of the design/theming aspects of BuddyPress, but unfortunately threads like this don’t help us make the software better. You’re more likely to get a better response if you share unconstructive comments like these on your own site/blog rather than these support forums (if you do, be sure to link us here to it so we can go read it). Thanks.
In reply to: Can I @everyone when I message? So much spam potential 😀
In reply to: will the buddypress be compatible with php7?Hi
We’ve been testing against PHP7 nightly releases for a long time. It helps that our PHP is newer than most of WordPress’, so we have less really old stuff to migrate.
You can view our test coverage on https://travis-ci.org/buddypress/BuddyPress/ (“PHP: nightly” is PHP7), as you can see, there’s currently a failure with one test that we need to fix. It looks fairly straightforward to fix, and we’ll do that soon.
This one test aside, to the best of knowledge, yes, BuddyPress works with PHP 7.
In reply to: Database error after upgrade to WP4.3/BP2.3.3If the SQL operation was carried out successfully (eventually), BP will have bumped a database version number, and next time, it wouldn’t have checked for schema updates.
In reply to: Video oembeds in Profile FieldDon’t want to vouch for security without actually testing it, but I like the idea of allowing field values to be parsed for oembeds, so I’ve created a ticket to capture the idea: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6603
In reply to: Database error after upgrade to WP4.3/BP2.3.3Hmm. Related to https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/9716/trunk/src/bp-core/admin/bp-core-admin-schema.php and https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/9695
@reggie3 what version did you upgrade from?
In reply to: custom profile fieldsI think you’re going to need to copy/paste the name of each city into a dropdown box field type. I don’t think there’s any easy or quick way of doing this.*
*There are more developer-orientated ways to do this, but if I were doing this, I’d just keep it simple as you only have to do it once. 🙂
In reply to: xProfile Rich Text Field plugin@ajarnonline Please don’t create duplicate topics: https://buddypress.org/support/topic/buddypress-xprofile-rich-text-field/
You’re only going to get the same answer.
If that’s the exact code you’re using (and it hasn’t been mangled by the forum), you need to use
"marks instead of'for PHP to convert the\ninto a newline. In reply to: requesting codex edit capabilityNot a bug, Hugo just didn’t grant you access. I’ve given
bobbingwideeditor permission on codex.buddypress.org, @herbmiller — thanks for contributing. 🙂In reply to: requesting codex edit capability@hnla — “bobbingwide” is not listed on the codex.bp.org/wp-admin/users.php page. 🙂

Hi @minglonaire
This is a general WordPress problem, not specific to BuddyPress. You will get better help if you look at the WordPress.org support forums: for example, https://wordpress.org/support/topic/automatic-plugin-upgrade-not-working-ftp-problems?replies=47
Thanks
