In reply to: Importing WP eXtended RSS XML file from WP to BP
Well unless you have your install working on example.com, then of course it’s not going to work
In reply to: Importing WP eXtended RSS XML file from WP to BPThat ain’t part of BuddyPress, that is WPMU. And it’s not hard to find – it’s here: http://example.com/wp-admin/import.php
In reply to: BuddyPress For WordPress (Not MU) ComingNot anytime soon as I understand.
In reply to: deleted user cannot reregister? This is WPMU nothing to do with BP. Look in the signups DB table.

In reply to: SQl QuestionAt the moment, that key isn’t used.
In reply to: Problems Installing BBPressYou need to be using 1.0 alpha 6, Leadingminds.
Yep, still works. I assume we\’re talking about the \’buddypress\’ graphic in the top-left of the \’buddybar\’.
In my theme\’s functions.php:
remove_action( \'bp_adminbar_logo\', \'bp_adminbar_logo\' );And in my CSS:
#wp-admin-bar ul { margin-left: 0 !important; }If that doesn\’t work before you, it\’s because you\’re putting it in the wrong file. If you\’ve got it in bp-custom.php, then it\’s getting read before the buddybar menu items are created internally – therefore it doesn\’t remove them as it needs to happen afterwards.
Burt Adsit has a suggestion on the Trac for a bp-custom-after.php which would be an appropiate place for this sort of override. In the interim, I suggest you make a file \’z-custom.php\’ in /mu-plugins/ and put the above line in.
It work fine for me, I got this working earlier. I will check when I get home that we are not talking about different logos and post the code here.
In reply to: bp-fbconnect error messageAre you able to disable safe_mode via a htaccess file or similar?
Whilst we might be able to narrow down the specifics for 1), 2) could prove a problem – because if facebook has load-balancing or multiple servers (i.e. for different countries), the IP address might be different for each user.
I think a common solution is to use CURL libraries instead of fopen() (and friends) which doesn’t trigger this problem. Of course your PHP would need to have been compiled with CURL support. Problem is bp-facebook is a mod of an existing wp plugin that provides facebook authentication, and it’d be that author who would be best to make the changes.
This isn’t an area where i’ve ever had to investigate in the past so I can’t suggest what code changes would be needed.q
In reply to: How to change email notificationsYeah I know that. I’m currently using fillters and hooks etc to override so I can put them into my bp-custom.php. A nice plugin so I can use the WordPress UI to change the messages would be better.
In reply to: fyi: WP-reCAPTCHA works fine with BuddyPressWorks here too. I had troubling setting it up originally, but that’s because I hadn’t read the readme.txt carefully to do what @Jfcarter above has just said.
In reply to: bp-fbconnect error messageGenerically, check your php.ini to see if ‘allow_url_fopen’ is enabled. Then see if safe_mode is enabled. Then see if open_basedir enabled.
In reply to: How to change email notificationsAnd if you find anything good, Tresehulyo, let me know here. I’m using some dodgy code at the moment and wondering if someone has done it properly.
> Also when I go to add a widget to a sidebar when that widget is already used by another sidebar, WordPress does not give you the option to add it again. How do you include the widget on two sidebars at the same time.
You’d have to create a duplicate the widget, and depending on how it is written and what it does, it may or may not require further modification.
Lo.
> Why is it when I add a page to my WordPress site, it doesn’t show up in my BuddyPress navigation?
Because that’s just the way the default home theme is written. The items listed on that menu aren’t ‘Pages’ in the WordPress sense, anyway, so it makes little sense for the default, out-the-box BuddyPress theme to do that.
The bit of code you’d need to change (or to add in your custom/duplicate theme) is in header.php. Where you see:
<ul id="nav">Add this underneath:
<?php wp_list_pages('title_li=<h2>Pages</h2>' ); ?>Documentation for that function is at https://codex.wordpress.org/wp_list_pages
In reply to: BP RC2 – width inconsistency continues1) posting this in another thread is not going to get anyone to answer your questions any sooner: in fact, the opposite is more likely.
2) some web developers, myself included, consider IE6 an unsupported browser due to its poor standards support. Consider upgrading to IE7 or 8, if you don’t want to switch to firefox.
3) IF this is a problem with the default themes, then once you resolve the issue please consider creating a patch and submitting it on trac.
Nothing nothing nothing!
BuddyPress is a plugin FOR WordPress MU. Your question is, what does a WP plugin need to do to work in WPMU? The biggest differences I am aware of is that WPMU plugins don’t utilise the activation/deactivation functions that WP plugins do.
I suspect if you search the WPMU site or message board, someone will have asked this question before.
In reply to: subdomain helpAaargh. This is nothing to do with buddyPress. The installation instructions say to check you have a fully working install of WPMU before installing buddypress. Obviously you didn’t.
Therefore a more appropiate place is the WPMU forum or website for this question. However: you need wildcard domains like you’ve said. Your webserver also needs to be configured to support such a thing. In Apache httpd, this is called a “virtualhost.”. Talk to your host.
Heh. Of course, I hope you at least TRIED to google that query, Enlightenmental1. I’d hate to think you hadn’t.
I googled, and found this thread https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/topic.php?id=5827 which was started about a year ago by a suspicious chap under the name of “apeatling.” Rings a bell but I can’t quite place it…

The link’s dead but if you ask him nicely he might still have the code elsewhere.
In reply to: I want to translate BuddyPress to Arabic 🙂Check out https://codex.buddypress.org/translations/ for starters – there’s a link taking you over to the main WordPress site with further details.
In reply to: register.php not working (but wp-signup.php does)OH how odd. Can you access all the default pages (members, groups, etc) – do they load OK?
