In reply to: blank screen after upgrading to buddypress 1.0
@Chris5858 – what is in your web server’s error log?
This may not have anything to do with your problem, but I’ve just discovered I can get this error if a plugin (any plugin) directory’s name has a dash (“-“) in it.
In reply to: Reinstall – Should I delete old tables from db?you do’nt have any. If you did they’d be called bp_stuff_here
In reply to: Reinstall – Should I delete old tables from db?Yes. all the buddypress tables are prefixed _bp_ which are in turn prefixed by whatever the buddypress table prefix is (by default, wp_).
Also check the wp_sitemeta table for similary-named buddypress settings.
In reply to: Reinstall – Should I delete old tables from db?If you are reinstalling and you do not need to re-use any of your old BP data which is in the tables, just delete the tables to be on the safe side.
In reply to: Update with a lot of members, sql crashIt’s not inherently dangerous that the database schema’s changed, no. BP used to have lots of tables like user_xx_activity, now they are combined into one (to give an example). Probably because you have >2k members, that’s why it’s taken so long to run.
Assuming you have followed instructions correctly and moved the two themes to their appropiate folders, you just need to enable and activate the bphome theme on the main blog, just as though you would for any other theme.
In reply to: Avatar upload failedCheck directory permissons and owner of, IIRC, /blogs.dir/
In reply to: Blogs disappear from the buddypress user blog listPlease don’t resurrect 5 month old topics. Start a new one with your questions and provide info on your wpmu/bp versions.
In reply to: how to change blog url structureReinstall WPMU and select subdirectory rather than subdomain.
typo alerts! You are missing > symbols after the “<li ” of your custom menu items.
In reply to: Buddypress.org profile layout theme, I want it!The skeleton is built to allow theme developers a base to start from. That’s all.
In reply to: Thinking for switching from phpBBFor the forum, you’d need to investigate phpbb2 importers for bbPress, which is the name of the forum component.
I had a quickish google but I couldn’t find any importers that looked up to date. Do let us know if you find any
In reply to: Regional GroupsYep, always open for suggestion. Send me a mail on this site or email me. I think my email address is in the download’s readme.txt.
This isn’t possible, yet. Coming in a future release
In reply to: no bp-core.php?eh?
/plugins/buddypress/bp-core.php ?
In reply to: XSSAndy & I have just spent a couple of hours going after these things, situation should be much improved.
Not yet. In the future, but no ETA yet.
In reply to: XSSgood catch
In reply to: How do I know what \”rc\” Im running?Well, that’s exactly it. There is entirely no reason to not be running v1.0.
In reply to: How do I know what \”rc\” Im running?RC means release candidates and it’s a programming term for referring to specific pre-release versions of software. Buddypress has had 2 so far – RC1 and RC2.
On a similar vein, most programmers use something known as a revision control repository throughout development, primarily for easy access to previous versions (“commits” in this context) of software. One of the advantages of this is that it saves duplicating a folder on your computer each time you make progress. Each commit will have a version or release number. Imagine having 1303 folders on your hard drive with only slight differences between them.
As far as we are concerned here, RC1, RC2 and rXXXX (where X are numbers) refer to a particular snapshot or version. Now Buddypress has had it’s version 1.0 release, every live website ought to be running version 1.0.
Rules of thumb: any BP-specific plugins ought to run on v1.0. Any theme that says RC1, though, probably WON’T run on v1.0. There is probably a lot of tutorials etc that refer to a specific release number (like r1303 in your example). That’s just the nature of ongoing development – documentation is prone to getting out of date easily.
If you’re trying to follow some specific instructions and get stuck, just post here and we’ll help.
In reply to: acitvated? yes, no, yes …1) wrong forum – this is nothing to do with buddypress
2) I think you get that message if a logged in user visits wp-activate.php or follows the email reactivation link a second time.
In reply to: Changed “bphome” name and everything disappears!Burt’s just pointed out on IRC that the name (both in CSS and the name of the directory) should not have a dash (-) in it. That was a recent change in WPMU 2 .7.1 I believe
In reply to: Changed “bphome” name and everything disappears!open up style.css, you need to modify the header (i.e. this section)
