In reply to: User-Blogs to have same design as testbp.org ?
sounds cool !
– I clearly do not want to change any CSS at the default-theme. I would like to have my page exactly look the same as at testbp.org .
– Only want to have the design of the “User-Blogs” being the same look & feel as at the default-theme.
– so in fact all “User-Blogs” should look the same, but each Blog-Admin should have the possibility to change the top-header-image (e.g. inserting his own Logo as the header-image) at his very own Blog.
Many thanks for your help Brajesh & Bowe !
In reply to: User-Blogs to have same design as testbp.org ?Many thanks Brajesh !
But besides the header of the default-theme, which other CSS of the default-theme do I need to copy, in order to have the same style for the User-blogs as at testbp.org ?
Strange that nobody asked for this before…… ?
In reply to: User-Blogs to have same design as testbp.org ?Hi JJJ,
yeah I know, but I would like to have the BP1.2 default-theme at the “USER-BLOGS”.
like e.g. on this page:
http://johnjamesjacoby.testbp.org/
Any theme-designer outta have made this theme already for User-Blogs ?
In reply to: Privacy ?please open your own thread to discuss the issues you are having.
THIS thread is regarding Privacy-Features in BP ONLY.
thanks.
In reply to: Privacy ?I love BuddyPress and admire the great work of Andy, JJJ & teams, but a “Privacy-Feature” is much more important than some other cool stuff like “@mention” , etc.
Thinking about single-WP-installs, I guess this will become troublesome without solid Privacy-Features.
I am afraid of using BP 1.2 if there is no “Privacy-feature” build into it and most probably I will have to postpone my BP-website until this is implemented.
In reply to: Privacy ?yeah, but reading Jeffs posts carefully (and also reading between the lines), it looks like his work will not make it into core.
According to the roadmap, this feature was planned for BP 1.2
In reply to: Login re-directagree that it should be in Core, that a user will be immediately at his own Profile-page after log-in.
Hope to see this.
Thanks Andy !

nuff said…..
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2very good proposal !
following question:
lets say the user is creating his username during sign-up, for example “johnsmith”.
What about putting automatically an “@” in front of each username ?
So “johnsmith” will automatically become “@johnsmith” as the username.
So meaning there would not be any username without the letter “@”.
What do you think about this ?
In reply to: Auto-complete stopped workingHey Boone,
I am not sure, but I guess your plugin is already providing this feature as per my request above ?
Many thanks !
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2having an “auto-complete”-functionality based on both – username and display name – would be much better than remembering and using “@username” all the time.
So even non-techie-users would be able to intuitively understand how the website works.
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.2 and multilanguageeven if it´s simple, it would be great if you could just implement it.
Many thanks for this !
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2getting someones attention by using “Private Message” and “Public Message” including sending a notification by e-mail is perfect.
But why do we need the letter “@” in order to get someones attention ?
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2the @reply functionality is great and should not be removed. Totally agree.
But why do I have to TYPE “@username” if instead just CLICKING on a “reply-button” which would literally do the same result ?
In the end typing of “@username” is just a strange substitution of clicking on a simple button or reply-link.
Isnt it ?
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.2
“The usage of @ may have been a twitter hack, but it came from using it as a way to acknowledge or direct a comment at a user when a threaded option wasn’t available….”
But now we DO have THREADED options at testbp.org.
So what is the point of still having the @username-feature ?
Please always keep in mind that applications are being used and are successful when they are SIMPLE only:

Twitter and the @username feature is a current media-hype which will soon fade away….
In reply to: Wire Posts in bp 1.21)
please see this ticket regarding “Public Message”:

2)
regarding the “@username” within the text-box: it could even happen that somebody does not understand what this means and just deletes this “@username” from within the text-box. The “@username” should NOT be located within the text-message-box but rather being located outside of the text you are writing.
In reply to: Excessive Private Messaging SpamI guess Jeffs Privacy-Plugin would help:

Too bad this plugin will not make it into BP 1.2 core !
In reply to: How to categorize Groups ?Many thanks Bowe.
I actually just want to categorize the Groups, I do not need to have different Group-settings.
I will get in touch with Travel-Junkie.
In reply to: How to categorize Groups ?well, not sure if this is the right plugin. Also Burt disappeared.
@Bowe: is this requirement similar to what you have suggested on “Super Groups” ?
Many thanks,
I am not sure I understand:
are you saying, that if you create a “Private Group” within BP, then the associated “Group-Forum” is not private ?
So when creating a private Group, the Forum-posts are still visible by everybody ?
In reply to: we should stop whiningLOL
I just wanted to point out that we (inluding myself) should rather focus on the big picture of things.
if you are going to write any new plugins, are you going to release them under GPL ?
In reply to: Auto-complete stopped workingHey Boone,
many thanks for writing this plugin !
Is there also a way for the Group-Admin to invite people from outside ?
Please see this ticket:

Thanks again !
In reply to: BuddyPress – Events Component (like facebook)the business-model of a monthly SUBSCRIPTION for a plugin is a ripp-off.
I would not buy something like this, no matter how good the plugin or code is.
Paying a one-time-fee for the plugin and another one-time-fee for an upgrade is O.K.
