Thank you very much for your effort and help, Marius !
Curious to see how it looks with the new default BP-theme
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy Component: An UpdateIn reply to: BuddyPress Privacy Component: An UpdateJeff,
it would making TESTING much much easier, if you could set-up a BP-website including your plugin.
Please grap a domain and a cheap server and put BP onto it including your Privacy-plugin.
Then a bunch of us can test it. This would be most effective and we can set permissions, and can feedback to each other.
Like: hey, can you see my profile or is it hidden ? No, I can not see your Profile, bla, bla, bla…..
Let me know if you need a domain-name, I still have a few laying around….I can just point it to your webhost…..
In reply to: How to change built in BuddyPress verbiageI also used “PO edit” and changed some text within this editor. Then I uploaded via FTP to my server, but the words did not change.
So is PO-edit for MAC only ?
Is there any other better editor for changing these language-files ?
I do not have a MAC, just plain Windows XP Home.

In reply to: New BuddyPress 1.2 default themecould you please also “theme” this page:
http://testbp.org/wp-login.php
http://testbp.org/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Ftestbp.org
In reply to: New BuddyPress 1.2 default themeHey David,
I guess you agree that “usability” is much better than before ?
Just change the colors to the ones you prefer and you will be happy…..
In reply to: New Groupblog PluginHi Marius,
many thanks for your feedback !
I am considering using your plug-in for my website.
maybe this domain would be nice:
bpgroupblog.com
Thanks !
In reply to: Help out with bbPress / Forum-softwareplease consider putting your energies at the right place.
Please do not post within THIS thread anymore.
Thanks.
In reply to: Google Friend Connect ?I would prefer Google-Connect over Facebook-Connect considering specific users I am targeting.
In reply to: New Groupblog PluginHi Marius,
2 questions, please:
– is the “Groups-Blogs plugin” compatible with the “to be released” version of BP 1.2 ?
– do you have a website at which I can have a look at how “Group-Blogs” is working ?
Many thanks,
In reply to: Status Update Cloudcan you make “trend lines” out of it ? Probably also Group-specific ?
So that we can see which “activities” are coming from which Group ?
Showing trend-lines like charts at the stock-exchange ?
You might get some ideas from this one:
In reply to: Status Update Cloudgreat idea to see a TREND from status-messages !!!
However, instead of a “cloud”, I would rather prefer to have simple links (like the “Tag-Clud” we currently have with BuddyPress). The 3-D animated cloud ist flashy, but simple things actually rule the world……
giving a user his own blog – why not also give a user his own forum ?
Great idea……
In reply to: Activities vs. Forums ?many thanks for your feedback Ray !
I think the page “textbp.org/forums” does not bring much value to the website. Also for the average user it is difficult to understand what the purpose of that specific page is.
Therefore I suggested a re-design of that specific page:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1389
Maybe this helps to utilize the forums and also get the user to better understand what is the idea behind a “Group-forum” ?
We are all more or less “living” within the Internet – we are programmers, designers, WP-experts, Professional Bloggers, etc. , but lets put ourselves in the shoes of the average internet-user – would he be able to understand and also use the service which we are trying to offer ?
In reply to: Profile text data is automatically hyperlinkingthis feature should be by default within BP-core.
Not sure why some text is turning into a link and some text is not. Typically the first word and the last word in a string of words is not linked, other words within the string are indeed linked.
Why do I always need a plug-in in order to turn things off which do not make any sense at all ?
Although people might say “this is WP standard feature” – I am wondering what kind of “standard” this is ?
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy Component: An UpdateHey Jeff,
can you install BuddyPress on your website (including your Privacy-Component) and we can test the functionality then at your website ?
That would be a great way in order to test it.
If you wish, we can also make some “bug-posts” or suggestions into your Discussion-Forum or wherever you like us to do so.
Gonna see if we can blow it up
maybe this helps:
In reply to: KlickMD!nicht schlecht….gut gemacht !
In reply to: Running Trunk – Wire Still HereI would go for option “3”
Why not re-name the “WIRE” to “Guestbook” ?
The user should be able to choose whether his “Guestbook” (Wire) will be visible to other users, visible only for friends or not-visible.
In reply to: Groups Create The Forum Categories? Weird. Please also see the suggestion of changing the “layout” and “navigation” for the specific “Group Forum”:
In reply to: Groups Create The Forum Categories? Weird.yeah, the “Forum” / “Forums” and posting is very confusing. I guess this way the Forums will be under-utilized by users, although a Discussion-Forum is one of the most important features for a Social-Networking website.
When you come to the point of having the need to explain the average user how your website works, then the website is crap and will never get any users signing-up. I saw many BP-websites which have videos in order to explain the use of the website.
Keep things as simple as possible, so that a user will understand how to navigate your website without having the need of watching 5 videos at which you explain how to navigate.
I would suggest to re-design the Forums-page in order to make it easier for users to understand how Group-Forums work and also make the posting-process a lot easier.
see this:
https://trac.buddypress.org/attachment/ticket/1389/sketch_2.gif
from the concept a little similar to this:
In reply to: Activity CommentingI guess I understand now what you are saying (@Michael, @Tore):
– when I make my comment to a Forum-Post, then my comment is showing-up at the “Home-page” and also within “My Activities”, but my comment is currently NOT showing-up within the specific Topic at the Group-Forum.
I do agree: All comments being made to a Forum-Topic, should be also made visible within this Group-Forum.
Also, I would suggest a re-design of the “Forums”-page:
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1389
https://trac.buddypress.org/attachment/ticket/1389/sketch_2.gif
this would make the “Forums”-page much more interesting for users and an easy understanding of how the “Group-Forums” are working.
see a similar example here:
In reply to: Activity CommentingI am excited !
This really brings a lot more interaction !
The “Group Activity” is perfect. Great job !
In reply to: Roadmap 1.2 / some features are not that urgentOf course, all those features are definitely important.
I actually just wanted to talk about “priority-settings” (in regards to timeline) of different features.
Sorry if I have missed the point.
