In reply to: buddypress registration not working in ie7
Looks to me like IE8 thinks jQuery library didn’t get included. Either that or it’s having a hard time seeing that “j” is jQuery. I’ll try to take a look at this soon.
In reply to: Images allowedNicola Greco developed a series of plugins months ago that tied existing media accounts into your BuddyPress profiles, but I haven’t heard much of them as of late.
With WordPress just now starting to fill its own shoes in terms of its media library, BuddyPress won’t really start to flex those muscles until WordPress is more capable at its core.
In reply to: BP Member FilterThere’s a small problem in the logic filter, so the results are sometimes not 100% accurate. It happens when searching for multiple fields, so that will get fixed after this weekend also.
In reply to: BP Member FilterExtended Profile – Basically the profile fields you setup for your audience
An example would be here at buddypress.org, if you wanted to search for people who put “puppies” in their interests field. Rather than searching for puppies and possibly getting someone with the name “I Love Puppies” it will isolate your search down to the field you’re searching in.
Clear as mud? Haha
In reply to: BP Member FilterFound my first bug: ajax’ed pagination borks it. Bug fixes to follow! Haha!
In reply to: BP Member FilterUpdated: zip file added until repo is done.

Use with caution and back-up your data before installing.
In reply to: Forum types: public, private, hiddenIt isn’t possible without some kind of plugin, but it is possible with one.
You would want to take a look at the buddypress/bp-forums/ directory to see how forums are created within BuddyPress to begin with, and modify that existing code in your own plugin to modify that behavior and turn it into what you’re trying to accomplish.
The code is in there to do what you want, you just need to make it do it.
In reply to: what about bp-plugins?Right now BuddyPress is more in the core-creation stage. We’re trying to get everything working step-by-step to where we want it to be before we can really start thinking of how to allow the world to plug-in to it correctly.
Right now the roadmap doesn’t really include anything like this at all, but I suspect something will sneak its way in eventually.
It’s very possible there is a JS conflict between plugins, but it’s less likely there is a conflict in the core WordPress files (though not impossible.)
Since the cropper tool relies on JavaScript entirely to function, it will fail without any real degradation if there’s a JS error or the user has JavaScript disabled. The first scenario is more likely to upset people, as if someone specifically has disabled JavsScript in their browser, they’re probably used to getting jipped on their web experience.

…but I’m keeping it open for now, since it seems to be a little different than the above link.
In reply to: Pb and fix for uploading avatar during registrationUser and avatar information is stored in wp_signups before the account is activated, and it is moved into the user, usermeta, and xprofile tables upon activation.
It would seem you’re experiencing a different issue than what you describe.
For now I’m closing this and linking it to…

@titeufpld, if you’d like me to reopen this topic for some reason, send me a PM.
In reply to: Cannot change avatarIn reply to: Avatar Upload issueIn reply to: Uploaded avatars wont showIn reply to: what about bp-plugins?It’s a good idea and one I’ve tossed around, but the problem is that it would need to exist outside of the wp-content/buddypress/ directory to avoid automatic update problems, and people wiping out the plugins folder on accident (if they do a manual upgrade for example.)
Something like this may still happen down the road, as BuddyPress grows and a need for specific methods to register plugins with BuddyPress increases. At the moment it isn’t necessary because BuddyPress plugins are actually just normal WordPress plugins that may take advantage of BuddyPress features and API’s. (At least, that’s how plugin authors should be writing them.)
What will need to happen for sure is a way for plugins to tell BuddyPress “hey I’m here and I want you to know this information.” It’s possible to alter the $bp global directly to do these things, but tighter integration into the platform makes sense.
My opinions are subject to change on this one, but today that’s how I’m feeling.
In reply to: Forum – cannot post in old groupsDarn… I was pretty positive I was right on that one… Ha!
I’d PayPal you $5, but if I fix your problem we’re even.
In reply to: @user notation: A Feature SuggestionMight be seeing this sooner than later.
In reply to: Javascript confirm box for cancelling friendsYou can add a class of “confirm” to any link that you want a JS message box to ask you about before it takes action. It will only spit out an “Are you sure?” generic message, but it’s built into BP already.
In reply to: Loop not showing on static home page….Funky things happen when using home.php AND setting a static homepage in dashboard->reading. I’d recommend choosing one method or the other, since they can both bring you to a similar result.
In reply to: Limit Blog Creation to AdminsThis is more a limitation of WPMU than it is a core BuddyPress feature. This could also easily be addressed in a plugin.
I’ll take a look at #1251 soon…
In reply to: Member Blog Avatar/Logo Setting from Admin?Blog avatars are coming in a future version, but there is no solution currently available that I have seen.
In reply to: \”$wpdb->prepare\” and LIKE \’%….%\’Try…
$more_sql['group'] = $wpdb->prepare("cm.meta_key = 'groups' AND cm.meta_value LIKE '%%$group%%'");@mlovelock, yeah both in Windows. I didn’t trouble-shoot it much farther than seeing they were missing so I’m not sure what CSS is off.
Yeah the light grey links at the top. Otherwise site looks good so far.
Part of the problem could be that the textdomain is set to ‘buddypress’ for all links in the filters.
ucwords( __( $component_name, 'buddypress' ) )..so if your plugin uses its own textdomain everywhere AND needs to tap into this list, it will need to use the ‘buddypress’ textdomain somewhere too.
In reply to: Saving translation gives errorsThese kinds of errors can also be caused by forgetting the variables (%s, %d, %1$s, etc…)
If the original string has those, the translated string must have them also. The numbers in the error messages are which lines in the po file contain the errors. Open the .po in something that has line numbers and see what’s broken in them.
