In reply to: Header for loged out only in Studio theme
If you’re referring to the Studio theme by BuddyDress/wpmu.org then you should know that they give free support for their premium themes. Unless we buy the theme, we won’t know what codes they have there to implement the changes you want.

In reply to: associate post with groupCheck this out http://buddydev.com/buddypress/blog-categories-for-groups-plugin/
no need to create another blog/site.In reply to: Widgets not showing up on all pages== when I make a text widget of any type they only seem to show on the main page. ==
That is strange, I see no evidence of a text widget in the home page nor in the inside pages, did you already delete the text widget?
Troubleshooting –
1. Deactivate ALL plugins except BuddyPress. Now add text widget – not Adsense, just a regular one – and I believe the regular text widgets will show up in all pages. It might just be that your Adsense plugin is not working as expected or has got a conflict with other plugins installed in your site.
2. Deactivate ALL plugins except the Google Adsense plugin and change theme to default twentyten theme. Add the adsense widget. If the Ads don’t show up, then you have to resolve this issue at the WordPress.org forums https://wordpress.org/support/forum/plugins-and-hacks and reference whichever Google Adsense plugin you are usingIn reply to: Widgets not showing up on all pagesI just checked fishbook, a child theme of bp-default theme with one sidebar. There should be no deterrents to getting your widgets to show up in sidebar. What if you add a “Members” widget or a regular text widget e.g. About, me? These should show up in sidebar of whole site.
In reply to: Am I Just an Idiot? BP Installation=== Finally activated it and the default theme came up. ===
By default theme, you mean twentyten default theme. You need to go to Appearance > Themes and activate bp-default theme. Better yet, create a child theme of bp-default and activate that.
=== I’m getting no links to my already made pages and i’m not sure why at all. ===
Make sure that mod_rewrite is enabled in your server as “pretty permalinks” are required for BP components to work in your install. If you’re using bp-default or the child theme of bp-default the Pages you created should be rendered in header area after the BP component links.
In reply to: image.php file for Buddypress theme== thumbnails of next and previous images ==
@famous next and previous thumbnail images are shown by template tags –
andOne quick solution for an image.php file:
– copy bp-default theme’s index.php and save to your child theme folder
– open up index.php and replace the following lines:Replace
<div class="entry"> </div>With
<div class="entry"> ID, 'large' ); ?> </div>Replace
<div class="navigation"> <div class="alignleft"></div> <div class="alignright"></div> </div>With
<div class="navigation"> <div class="alignleft"></div> <div class="alignright"></div> </div>Replace
<h2 class="posttitle"><a href="" rel="bookmark" title=" "></a></h2>
With
<h2 class="posttitle"><a href="post_parent); ?>" rel="attachment">post_parent); ?> </a></h2>You can also check out twentyten’s loop-attachment.php to see how image attachments are rendered along with other forms of attachment https://core.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/3.1.1/wp-content/themes/twentyten/loop-attachment.php
Cool! Kudos @gunju2221
In reply to: Fatal Error on activating BuddyPress PluginWhat BP version are you on? That issue has been fixed https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/2759 to address deprecated notice if you’re on PHP 5.3+
== It shouldn’t need 33MB of RAM just to activate the plugin. ==
It depends on server configurations ultimately. I set up a BP install for a friend on a shared hosting plan with 32MB and it’s running well with a private community of 250+ members. Resolve the deprecated notices issues first and see if you still need to increase memory limit. If you want your members to create groups at will, then you could place it in member header area.
This is how to do it If you had created a child theme of bp-default theme and you want to place the create group button where it can be seen right away, you could copy this file https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.8/bp-themes/bp-default/members/single/member-header.php from the bp-default theme into your child theme’s folder following the directory structure
i.e. wp-content/themes/yourchildtheme/members/single/member-header.php . Then you can insert the code as one of item buttons; and you should check if the Groups component was activated in your install first by adding conditional: if ( bp_is_active( ‘groups’ ) )== after the Add Friend, Mention this user buttons ==
`<a class="button" href="”>`
== or before the Add Friend, Mention this user buttons ==
`<a class="button" href="”>`
In reply to: Installing buddypress in subsite in WP multisiteFirst thing’s first, if you want to have user-blog-URL’s as http://myname.mysite.com/ then you have to install BuddyPress in domain root http://mysite.com/ Otherwise, if you install BP in secondary site with a subdomain configuration, e.g. http://buddypress.mysite.com/, the glitch is that the user blogs created from the secondary site will turn out like http://myname.buddypress.mysite.com/
Reported here: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1796== 4. but when i do that , the links etc starts showing in the main site ==
Unless you put in code or widget for sitewide recent posts or for list of all blogs, then those links won’t show up in the home page of your main site.== i only wants users to see once the login to community ==
Read through to the end of this related topic with solutions for the https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/how-to-make-a-private-community?topic_page=1&num=15In reply to: Blank page after install Buddypress 1.1.2@krikette Know that 99.9% of those who help out here are volunteers who share their knowledge and skills whenever they can. There’s no obligation for anyone here to answer any question, yet many have generously guided newbies to site launch. There might be those who are arrogant, yet you’ll also find those who are very helpful, so kindly refrain from painting everyone with the same brush. The traffic of helpful volunteers is less than the traffic of newbies or those seeking help, so you can see the imbalance. You have to be patient yet persistent

== but it is obvious that there is a major problem with buddypress SOMEWHERE and no one is doing a damn thing to figure it out. ==
Unless you post what problem you’re having with your installation, no one can help you. I see that this is your fist post, and you are venting because … of unanswered questions by others before you? Many have successfully launched BuddyPress sites like those featured at http://www.bpinspire.com/ and your site could be featured there too if you think positively and learn what needs to be done to overcome the challenges that face you.
Some tips:
1. Read – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/
BP Codex is your friend https://codex.buddypress.org/home/
2. Use our site search or use Google search as the question could have already been answered in forums or in external sites.
3. Bumping topics frequently is a no-no. You can bump your topic if unanswered after 24 hours. In reply to: Hmm, does anyone know how to get this view?@pcwriter @thoughtsandmore heard through the grapevine someone’s going to release one almost just like that
In reply to: styling profile template page@boonebgorges invite-anyone plugin has template file “which can be overridden with a template file at groups/single/invite-anyone.php”
https://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/invite-anyone/tags/0.8.9/group-invites/templates/invite-anyone.phpNext time, it’ll be better if you post at the Invite Anyone plugin forums so plugin dev will be able to see your post https://buddypress.org/community/groups/invite-anyone/forum/
In reply to: BP-Magazine problem. Also, double-check that you’ve got the latest version of BP Mag http://buddydev.com/themes/bp-mag/
In reply to: Group SlugDid you update group slug the BP way, i.e. adding the following to your wp-config.php file?
`define ( ‘BP_GROUPS_SLUG’, ‘challenges’ );
per https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/changing-internal-configuration-settings/1. By default you create a group from the link at the Groups Directory header “Create Group” which generates this URL to take you through the process
2. The “Add Friend” link is found in any member’s header usually under or beside the member’s avatar.
3. You cannot find dashboard > BuddyPress > Forums Setup on your single WP site?
Further testing – Deactivate BP Template Pack plugin and change theme to bp-default theme to isolate the problem.
In reply to: [Resolved] – How to get two separate menusThank you @hnla
In reply to: BP-Magazine problem.@Eclipsetuner018 I’ve tested the BP Mag theme on a test install upgraded to BP 1.2.8 and WP 3.1 before, and encountered that problem once. I deactivated all plugins except BP and the problem went away. I haven’t gone back to check which among the possibly outdated plugins caused the conflict since I was just focused on creating a child theme for BP Mag at that time.
Btw, @sbrajesh provides support for his themes and plugins at http://buddydev.com/forums/
In reply to: [Resolved] – How to get two separate menusYes, you can surround several links and even HTML elements with the conditional is_user_logged_in.
The code in pastebin.com is for the header.php for child theme of bp-default theme as hnla mentioned above.
The last time I checked, Jooc theme has not been updated for current BP/WP versions.
In reply to: how to optimize buddypress siteIn reply to: [Resolved] – How to get two separate menus@rickgoz Yes, it is possible to get two different menus in BP. The simplest way is to surround the links for members only with conditional
“
// the links
“An example using main navigation links in header.php of bp-default theme http://pastebin.com/uGQHhm8r
This is the first time I’ve heard about this kind of behavior on a default installation even in subdomain structure. Deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress, mu-plugins and bp-custom.php as well if you have them and change theme to default twentyten theme. Clear cache. See if same behavior persists.
If it only happens with BP installed, then https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/when-asking-for-support/

In reply to: Bug installYou need to get your “pretty permalinks” – one of the major requirements – working first before activating BuddyPress. Deactivate BuddyPress and change theme to default twenty ten theme. Find resolution for your permalink settings at WordPress.org forums https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting . Good luck.
