In reply to: First Steps with BP…
There’s just so many things wrong going on, have to go at it a step at a time. You need to give additional information like WP 3.0.1 is multisite or single? The home URL goes to UShareNH.com/1/ so you installed WP in /1/ subdirectory or is your BP installed in secondary blog? Also, almost all of the links in your home page goes to HTTP Error 403.18 page. It’s more likely your server configuration that’s throwing off the site – server can’t handle the load, crashing etc.Was WP functioning well before you installed BuddyPress? https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/ Special check on your WordPress configuration. If not, then you have to resolve that at WordPress.org forums before installing BP.

It’s working now.In reply to: Beginners Questions@whitbyglennk installing BP at the root is the ideal scenario. However, it can be installed in a secondary blog of installation as well. Rephrasing @LPH2005‘s question earlier, what do you have at the root of your public folder that you cannot install WP 3.0.1/BP at root?
In reply to: Beginners QuestionsYes, you can install WP 3.0.1 in physical subdomain and go multisite in subdirectory mode. See BuddyPress configurations available here:

In reply to: I can create a blog but not access it@conectcahul glad you worked it out.
As an aside, I remember that topic which you linked to from a year ago
Just saying, Sitewide tags plugin rules

In reply to: Prevent Admin Bar from interfering with themes@fjrichman if you import the adminbar.css from the bp-default theme into your theme’s style.css, there won’t be any gap if you disable the BP Admin Barl , The bp-admin-bar.css you imported takes care of adding the necessary space at the top when you enable bp admin bar. When you disable bp admin bar, your theme will go back to original setting without extraneous gap.
In reply to: Prevent Admin Bar from interfering with themesThe simple fact is that you need the common hook, “, in footer.php of all your themes so that the bp admin bar will show up in user blogs in the same manner — inserting the bp admin bar at top of screen and pushing down the layout in the right amount.
There will be a couple or so themes where it won’t look the same because of style done on body/wrapper area. When that happens, ask WP.org forums or here to help you out with the CSS of that specific theme. Or, you can install the Firebug add-on for Mozilla and work on the style for those themes yourself.

Pretty permalinks is required for BP, therefore Apache Module mod_rewrite MUST be enabled. In reply to: Serious Problem in installation(404 Error Displayed)Go to Settings > Permalinks and set to anything except default.
Also, you might want to check this out – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configurationIn reply to: bbPress – no admin menuThere’s none. Forums are associated to groups. You should read this:
https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/buddypress-forum/BuddyPress is installed in main site, i.e. http://www.mysite.com, by default.
You need this to set up BP in secondary blog – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/@warut – upgraded to 1.5 in test install and “lost” the logo I uploaded in previous version. Re-uploaded site logo and it’s behaving well. Thank you.
“The only problem I’m having is nobody can “create an account” or cannot register”
If you’re on WP Multisite – go to Super Admin > Options > Allow users to register
If you’re on single WP – go to Settings > General Settings > Membership – allow anyone to registerThis is more a WordPress question rather than a BuddyPress one – https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL – remember to back up your database first
In reply to: I can create a blog but not access itThe problem is not normally found in sound installations. Deactivate all plugins including BuddyPress. Then check if you can access the blogs you created as Super Admin. If that works, activate BuddyPress and BP plugins one by one.
Add to your style.css
`div.avatar-block img { float: left; width: 50px; height: 50px; }`
add margin to taste.
In reply to: I can create a blog but not access it@conectcahul deactivate bp-group-management plugin first and see if erratic behavior disappears.
Sitewide tags plugin is a good plugin, and works for me.
Also, check out http://buddydev.com/buddypress/blog-categories-for-groups-plugin/In reply to: Events Manager for BuddyPressHi @netweblogic. First requirement is that people can post events from the frontend, second is being able to set privacy levels for the events – public, for members only, etc, third is that at least one map can be attached to the event, etc. etc. etc. There are already a couple of feature-rich BuddyPress events plugins in the WP repo:
EventPress – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/eventpress/
Jet Event System – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/jet-event-system-for-buddypress/
Good luck.In reply to: Nav Bar Menu Items HelpYou could use a plugin https://buddypress.org/community/groups/add-all-nav-links-to-bp-adminbar/
