In reply to: Upgrade problems to bp1.7
@r-a-y the link -> https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-followers/
Cheers.@billy-not-happy I wrote the instructions for https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/ You mentioned that the instructions were not clear enough and brought some confusion, so please feel free to post some more ideas on how we can improve the article, in addition to what you already posted above. Than you.
@tadpubco thanks for posting back 🙂
In reply to: New Forum set up but not working@e9designs prior to BP 1.7, Genesis themes required to install premium Genesis Connect plugin for compatibility with BuddyPress. Not sure if this is still the case at this time. Please contact theme provider if you no longer require Genesis Connect plugin or if there’s a new version.
As for the forums, since you have bbPress Genesis Extend plugin which is required for integration, please also contact plugin author for assistance.
@xsn0w please clarify what you mean by:
3. If a directory install, is it in root or in a subdirectory? Root, BP is in subdirectory
Do you mean you gave WordPress its own Directory per this webpage? If so, BP is not going to work well there. See https://codex.buddypress.org/user/before-installing/#system-and-server-requirements
If not, then you do you mean there’s a WP install in root and you created a physical subdirectory, installed WP and BP there?
In reply to: 403 Forbidden access to wp-login.php with BP 1.7In reply to: Use activity post form as frontend for blog posts@ggsalas front-end posting made especially for BuddyPress http://buddydev.com/buddypress/introducing-buddyblog-allow-users-to-blog-from-their-buddypress-profile/
In reply to: Groups redirecting to homepage@alex-74 Confirming the unusual redirection to home page. Please delete dummy user account in your installation.
What have you tried so far to troubleshoot this issue? Changing to BP Default theme to check if issue is corrected? Deactivating other BuddyPress plugins to check for plugin conflicts? If you want to deactivate plugins by batches, I would deactivate the chat plugin and those plugins which have not been updated for BP 1.6-1.7, then check if you could go to a group’s single page. If it’s still not working, deactivate another batch of plugins.
In reply to: BuddyPress Install Issue?For BP 1.7, install sitewide and/group forums via bbPress plugin https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
In reply to: Groups redirecting to homepageEven when i am logged in as admin or a member.
@alex-74 You’re right, that’s not a good thing. At this time, cannot do a simple check to see what’s wrong with your install as registration is required. Do provide us with a throw-away regular member login username and password which you can later delete after issue is resolved.
In reply to: Buddypress: Reducing comments to links (1 post)@boiy see how it’s done in Status, child theme of BP Default https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/status
@tadpubco good for you 🙂
Did it just resolve itself or did you have to add/delete/reupload plugin/theme?In reply to: Can Not Create GoupsI can access the Group Admin section, but I see no Add New button.
@simpsonpw you create a group by:
– Going to the Groups Directory page and clicking on the button to create a new group beside the page title, or
– As Super Admin just add /create/ after the url to your groups directory page, e.g. example.com/groups/createIn reply to: 1.7 crashes Hatch theme@thatmtnman Sorry to read that you’re still cannot get BuddyPress working in your site. Indeed, BuddyPress 1.7 has been created and tested by professional developers in as many environments as possible. If you believe there’s a bug, please feel free to post a new ticket in Trac https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/
I have forum base set to General Forums
I have the slug set to all-forums@billy-not-happy not clear. “Archive Slugs > forums base” is the slug used for the sitewide forums directory. Could you clarify further?
– did you follow the instructions https://codex.buddypress.org/user/setting-up-a-new-installation/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
– did you add the forum index shortcode in your forums directory pageIn reply to: Can we add a form on here for support request?@bphelp @modemlooper did not delete your post in the topic “When asking for support”. I was moving it here to keep the topic clean and was going to add the notice not to post in that topic. Something went awry, sorry about that 🙁 I was able to retrieve what you posted.
@modemlooper
I opened a topic about this as well earlier but yours is more in depth but since it deals with the same subject can you close it for me please:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/can-we-add-a-form-on-here-for-support-request/
We need to make it mandatory for support requests to provide certain requirements when folks ask for those support request. It would make it so much easier if it was mandatory that they provide the info @modemlooper provided. I guess my point is it would streamline and take the guesswork out of the process! I am not enjoying asking people all the time what version of WP an BP are they using. It should be included in there support request.What you can do is copy of the URI of the topic https://buddypress.org/support/topic/when-asking-for-support-2/ and paste it when you respond to inquiries with incomplete information.
Thank you for your active assistance in the BuddyPress Forums.
In reply to: [Resolved] Profile Links not Working@drkknight32 Thanks for posting back that you were able to roll back. Hopefully, you wouldn’t encounter the problem again 🙂
In reply to: XML 404 error reporting in gogle web master tool@ginzobeat BuddyPress is not the issue. Something has gone wrong with your installation when it spits out URl’s with domain name http://www.collabotation.com in the middle and compounded components like: members/luzikd/activity/groups/www.collabotation.com/feed/?acpage=3
I see you have a 404 when I tried http://www.collabotation.com/members/luzikd based on the URL above, but found that there is a http://www.collabotation.com/member/luzikd
– I presume that you did not go through the Installation Wizard? https://codex.buddypress.org/installation-wizard/ or did you?
– Go to wp-admin dashboard Settings > BuddyPress > Pages and double check that Pages are assigned to BuddyPress components activated.
– is this a single WP site or a multisite installation?
– if multisite, did you use domain mapping to point to your site with BP instealled?
– what’s in your .htaccess file
– change MADE theme to BP-Default theme and check URL’s
–In reply to: 1.7 crashes Hatch themeIn reply to: [Resolved] New user's unable to register@popsmith have you tried disabling all plugins except BuddyPress to check for plugin conflict?
In reply to: Strict Standards- Errors with SimpleNBright Theme@coolicious please create a ticket at http://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org
include information about your installation
– from what BP version did you upgrade?
– WP version being used
– single or multisite install
– if you change to BP Default theme or Twenty Twelve theme is issue resolved?In reply to: Activity posting twice@fpats Just to clarify,
– did you just activate the BP Template Pack plugin for MADE (the theme already has BP folders like /activity/, /groups/, etc. within theme folder)
– or do you also have to go through Appearance > BP Compatibility (whereby BP folders have to be transferred to your theme’s folder in server) ?If you went through Appearance > BP Compatibility process, check out this article https://codex.buddypress.org/bp-17-upgrading-template-packed-themes/
Reminder: back up your theme folder with the BP files firstBut yes, the upgrade would be an easier process for you if theme author could direct users on best way to upgrade to BP 1.7
In reply to: [Resolved] Profile Links not Working@drkknight32 that’s fine. Default url for member if WP is at domain root is e.g.
= http://www.example.com/members/drkknight32/ and you posted that you have no file bp-custom.php in server at wp-content/plugins/bp-custom.php with the code I posted above, then something else is rewriting the URI from default.WP/BP versions? What theme are you using? If you change to BP default theme, is issue corrected? What plugins do you have installed? If you deactivate all plugins except BuddyPress, is issue corrected?
@lchief this is a WordPress Multisite issue which would be better served at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite. Please make sure that your multisite installation along with domain mapping are working before installing BuddyPress.
In reply to: Dynamic Page Creation@scotm default WP/BP installations do not allow members to change usernames. So unless you’ve installed a plugin which allows such functionality for members …
