In reply to: BuddyPress 1.5 RC 1! And BP 1.2.10! Wooooo!
Very excited for 1.5!
Counting down the days to a full public release!
@travel-junkie Cheers for the explanation Boris!
You know my site better than anyone, so it’s something I would love to do when it becomes integrated with BP further down the line.
I just love how much simpler it looks on testbp.org
I guess the new plugin of bbpress2.0, will change all existing groups into forums when it transfers everything over and these are displaed on one page, integrated with the forum directory?
Groups and forums are fine for those used to BP, but I find people who are less savvy just aren’t getting it that easily on my site. Having them displayed as they are as ‘forums’ on testbp.org alongside the forum directory, makes it so much more intuitive!
If anyone knows how the upgrade process will work down the line when bbpress 2.0 is officially part of BP that would be great to know!
In reply to: Client Side Validation For BP Sign Up Form?@DJPaul Hey Paul!
Cheers mate, thought so!
I’m going to pay a developer to do this tomorrow and I’ll gladly hand over the code so that you can use it in the BP core for a future release. I think it’s uber important to make the sign up procedure as easy as possible and client side validation along with a decent captcha would really help.
@boonebgorges I experienced this again last night where the second page of activity was repeated again and again.
It’s weird because if I reset safari or Chrome and get rid of all browsing hostory etc it works perfectly so I’m not sure if the browsers caching is at fault or if BP is at fault. It’s not my theme as it’s the same in BP Default when this error occurs.
Any ideas?
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.3Just want to say thanks to everyone working on BP 1.3.
I wish I could get involved coding somehow but I have no experience whatsoever unfortunately. I know how to use BP inside out though and could test EVERY aspect thoroughly if that’s any use to anyone?
Ross

False alarm by the looks of things! I’ve changed scripts today and looks like it was a cache thing. Perhaps the cache had saved the script used earlier that was conflicting with JQuery 1.6.1.
Reset my browser and it’s all good!
Thanks for the help!
Ross

Hmm… Even does it with no plugins and in the default theme.
I have one piece of custom JQuery which is an accordion menu. It’s not JQuery Tools or anything. it’s just standard JQuery and only 5 lines of code. Could it be a clash? Not quite sure how the stream works!
Ross

No I’m not Boone, I’ll deactivate each plugin one by one and see if I can find the culprit. I have had a few conflicts with JQuery today which I have been going through. It might be another one.
Ross

@DJPaul Cheers mate. i was using outdated JS files from Google’s CDN.
Appreciate your time mate!

In reply to: A quick note about WordPress 3.2@boonebgorges I have just tried everything out on the same install with ALL plugins still ACTIVE but this time using the default theme and everything is okay.
I take it that it is now something in my theme causing the issue.
Would I be right to assume with it working in BP Default that my plugins are all okay to keep using? It isn’t those causing the issue but my theme? I do have an accordion that uses JS I think. It works but maybe causing a conflict?
In reply to: A quick note about WordPress 3.2@janismo I too get the filter dropdowns in the groups/ forums/ members/ activity etc doing nothing now in BP 1.2.9
Got a developer looking at it now.
Hopefully we’ll find the cause!
Keep me posted if you find out why!
Completely agree but it would seem some just don’t do it! My host has enabled dkim through exim and although the email headers for hotmail show dkim as a perm error now they are allowing everything into the inbox!
It just gets more and more bizarre!
Hi again!
A week almost after my host set my domain keys, SPF records and RDNS was confirmed for my IP, my emails are still hitting junk folders in Hotmail and GMail.
Has anyone else experienced this and managed to remedy it?
I’m thinking maybe it’s a case of just perservering and waiting to see if my domain’s reputation increases with hotmail when found to not be sending junk mail???
Actually, just found an AMAZING plugin from rich here:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-pending-activations/changelog/
Takes pending activations through the real process of activation, leaving you with no unused keys in the wp_usermeta table. Highly recommended but support stops for it by BP version 1.3.
Someone should definitely take this over, it’s essential!
@DJPaul Cheers Paul, I’ve just tried it and it indeed works. the only thing it bypasses is creating the activity stream entry that user ‘x’ became a egistered member. Everything else looks like it has been created just fine.
In reply to: Are these features included in BuddyPress?Technically all of that is possible but it wouldn’t be included as default in a standard BP template. You could easily get a theme designer/ developer to build most of the functionality there though. It’s all straight forward except for perhaps the payment sections which would require some specialist work.
I’m sure others will chip in with who they have used for custom stuff on their sites.
I have found a workaround this issue by editing the subject line of the activation email by a simple function found here!
http://www.dnxpert.com/2010/08/13/buddypress-how-to-customize-activation-email/
Would love to see us able to customise all emails in future versions of BP though!

The plural is indeed needed and should go after the s if referring to more than one actor. If the apostrophe went after the r it would only be referring to a network belonging to one actor.
The network belongs to multiple actors thus the apostrophe has to go after the s.
@virtuali sorry mate, the HTML above was interpreted correctly by this site thus it looks fine above.
The apostrophe doesn’t come out as an apostrophe in the subject line of my activation email.
It actually comes out as & #039;
I’ve changed it in my original post to reflect this problem properly
I’m thinking this is perhaps a WP issue? Does WP handle the activation email and BP handle the password rest, or are tey both handled by WP? It’s odd that the apostrophe shows fine in the password reset email but not the activation email.
@hnla My host has just set domain keys and SPF records for my account which is great but I can’t seem to find info on a PTA record. Could you give me some more info?
Cheers

Thanks so much guys!
I’m researching it now and have just got a support ticket logged with my host!
Will let you know how I get on!

In reply to: BIG activity stream bug when deleting a topic!Wow! Can’t thank you enough! Awesome work!

To get the fix do I now just need to edit the file with your new code on Trac?
In reply to: BIG activity stream bug when deleting a topic!Hey Boone,
I’ve just tried it on a brand new vanilla install and it doesn’t delete any posts apart from the orignal one.
I’ll post this right now on TRAC mate.
If you come up with a patch before the next BP release I would love to have it as I launch tomorrow! Haha!
Thanks so much for looking into it!Ross

Deleting users from the BP admin bar does however clean the site of activity and forum posts. I guess this behaviour needs to be linked in with the WP dashboard too.
