i believe those mojo market install dare real installs and do not use shared resources you should be able to install buddypress on it just fine but you should confirm with blue host that you have full files access to the installation before proceeding if you want to be sure.

network activate, usually buddypress plugins would also be network activated.

not really any different from any other plugin, install, activate, the instructions on the repo page are a little dated, there is no wizard anymore.

yeah you definitely need to be a user to create a group.

not very familiar with multi network myself but as i understand it you can “upgrade” so-to-speak a regular network to a multi network. if i am correct it would almost certainly make sense to keep things simple until they need not to be.

i think the difference is the buddydev one lets you have different user bases.

Have you tried confirming this behavior on a fresh install? If so i’d put in a trac ticket otherwise you’re probably going to be on your own for that one. It’s possible your import process is the root of the cause.

in buddypress settings under Groups Settings and the heading Group Creation un-check the box that says “Enable group creation for all users”

maybe you can just use the code from the members page?

from the admin bar go under your name to messages > all member notices you can activate and de-active notices from there.

ps you can also delete them on the same page.

maybe someone should add a feature request on trac. maybe one already exists?

posts will only get recorded as activity if buddypress is active the behavior you are seeing is normal. there maybe a plugin out there that can re-construct activity entries from post dates or something but i’m not personally aware of anything that does that.

it’s interesting you should say that was thinking of building a custom theme for families using buddypress and would also be interested to know if that’s possible.
