The easiest and update proof way is:

Here is one way you could add xprofile fields name as well as the value to the members directory! Just remember to replace “Field-Name with the names of your fields in the 5 variables in my code. Also remember it is case sensitive. If you notice the pattern of 5 in my code you can easily see how to add more fields if you need them. Place this code in bp-custom.php:<?php add_action('bp_directory_members_item', 'bphelp_dpioml'); function bphelp_dpioml(){ $bphelp_my_profile_field_1='Field-Name'; $bphelp_my_profile_field_2='Field-Name'; $bphelp_my_profile_field_3='Field-Name'; $bphelp_my_profile_field_4='Field-Name'; $bphelp_my_profile_field_5='Field-Name'; if( is_user_logged_in() && bp_is_members_component() ) { ?> <div class="bph_xprofile_fields" style=" margin-left: 25%;"> <?php echo $bphelp_my_profile_field_1 ?>: <?php echo bp_member_profile_data( 'field='.$bphelp_my_profile_field_1 ); ?><br /> <?php echo $bphelp_my_profile_field_2 ?>: <?php echo bp_member_profile_data( 'field='.$bphelp_my_profile_field_2 ); ?><br /> <?php echo $bphelp_my_profile_field_3 ?>: <?php echo bp_member_profile_data( 'field='.$bphelp_my_profile_field_3 ); ?><br /> <?php echo $bphelp_my_profile_field_4 ?>: <?php echo bp_member_profile_data( 'field='.$bphelp_my_profile_field_4 ); ?><br /> <?php echo $bphelp_my_profile_field_5 ?>: <?php echo bp_member_profile_data( 'field='.$bphelp_my_profile_field_5 ); ?><br /> </div><?php } } ?>In reply to: BP template hierarchy Codex article@henrywright-1
You’ve been around long enough to know if something is off so if you know for certain something is off on the codex I doubt there will be any objections if you make a correction! 🙂In reply to: Buddypress blocks flexslider@fotant
This is not really a BuddyPress issue! Why not pose this question on the plugins support forum? If memory serves me correct this is a Woo Themes plugin! In reply to: Facebook Like, site-wide, and server stress@caming
Using a shared server is not a good idea! Typically most shared servers will remove your site if it uses 20% of its resources because its to hard on the CPU! As far as plugins go, a well written plugin doesn’t really bog down a site anymore than BuddyPress itself would! In reply to: Groups Directory button issueWhy would you fiddle around with the templates code when a more simple update proof solution is available?

If you see a typo in the codex you can edit it yourself if you choose too! 🙂In reply to: Dashes in usernamesIn reply to: Registration Page@husdom
Did you allow registration in dashboard/settings/general?In reply to: Registration Page@husdom
If you are logged in then this is default behavior. Log out an try it!In reply to: Dashes in usernamesIn reply to: WPeddit vs BuddyPress?@squeebo
Its kinda hard to compare when one doesn’t even know what WPeddit is. I seriously doubt whatever WPeddit is would be on the same level as BP as it has been in development for 5-6 years. In reply to: Does anyone know if this is even possible?@blogminded
You are correct! 🙂In reply to: Does anyone know if this is even possible?@blogminded @tripvips
That would work fine unless the site admin was using a plugin like:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/private-community-for-bp-lite/
Then that URL would be useless and they would just get redirected but maybe this person is not using a plugin that restricts logged out visitors from the site so your idea may work for them.@hkcharlie
Just for your info in the plugin I mentioned above you can drag that menu item to whatever position you want it to be in, in your navigation so this is very cool!@hkcharlie
New plugin out does the trick:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/bp-direct-menus/
Works good in my test so far!@hkcharlie
Once upon a time @modemlooper had a plugin that would do this but he removed it from the repository. The only downside was it did not give any options to order the nav item. It just added a profile nav item at the end of the other nav items. I have no clue if he has this available anywhere on the net. Sorry! In reply to: Links modification wp6@everest19
It may serve you better if you request help on that plugins support forum. The author knows his code better than anyone and knows what and what can not be modified to fit a particular requirement. In reply to: Does anyone know if this is even possible?@tripvips
Sorry but there is nothing like that out there that I have seen. You would have to develop this functionality yourself. It would be a little complicated as well!@hnla
You asked “Why?” the reason is simple. I don’t have $15.00 to cough up for a plugin myself so I did it the old fashioned way, I built it myself! I suppose in some unselfish way I thought since I already built it, I would share it for those like myself that can’t afford it. I have several plugins out and it isn’t like they are revolutionary and neither would this one be. Maybe not being able to afford it is to my advantage of learning, and giving back to the community, and the community gains from my misfortunes! I understand you and shane are partners so I can see how you would take a personal interest in this, but the fact of the matter is I didn’t intend on stepping on anyone’s toes, and I don’t know either one of you personally either, but I needed this functionality and I could not afford to pay for it, and since I built it I figured I may as well share it with others that may not be able to afford it. If you can give me some ethical reasons why I should not share the plugin then I will take them into consideration before I make a decision to release it because I really do not intend to harm anyone or their income.@whitewolf1988 @hnla
On second thought after resting last night, I may take some time to decide whether I should release this plugin. I was tired, excited and had been up half way through the night working on this plugin when I replied, and maybe I did not think about how it would affect others in a negative way. So my apologies, but like I said I have not come to a decision yet! I will take a few days to decide and then make a decision when I can make a better judgement call.In reply to: Add Profile Field to Member Page@hnla
No, it is not meant to be a negative, or confrontational. It was meant to be a free alternative for the community & those that do not have the funds to purchase a plugin. Maybe I will sleep on it for a few days before I make the decision to release it because I don’t intend to upset anyone. Sorry! In reply to: Add Profile Field to Member Page@shanebp
Don’t thank me yet! You might be hating me in a few days:

I plan on releasing it on the WP repository!@whitewolf1988
I am about 85% done with a plugin that will do this and It will be a freebie so hold your horses! Until then this is a current screen shot of what It will produce on the front end dependent on how the admin sets it in the dashboard:

I am working on making those xprofile items that are not filled out to not display unless they are. When I get it finished everyone gets a cool freebie! Patience! In reply to: How to edit a post in buddypress@bloxblox
Its really not good to reply on 2 year old threads. Anyway there is a plugin for that and from what I can see it still works decent even though it has not been updated in a few years.
