In reply to: Problems with the registration page
@nanaimomen
That is standard behavior. To look or edit their profile fields you would have to be an admin and do it from the front end. Go to the members page, click on the member and note how the toolbar changes to give the admin options.In reply to: Member Profiles@mshane8
The short answer is yes as long as your using BP 1.6 thru 1.7.1+
Read the documentation here:
https://codex.buddypress.org/extended-profiles/In reply to: What happened to these Buddypress Plugins?@prettyhopeful
@modemlooper removed buddypress extended settings from the repo and made one premium plugin called BuddySuite that has more features than the plugin that was in the repo. I think this also covers adding the profile menu to the main nav as well You can get it here:
http://shop.taptappress.com/downloads/category/plugin/
For the private community you can get that here:
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp
Cheers!@per4mance
Some plugins that work fine with BP 1.6.5 have not been updated to work with BP 1.7.1 so you can either update and find the faulty plugin and request its author to update the plugin for BP 1.7.1 or just stick with you old setup until all the plugins you use are updated. Just be aware sometimes authors abandon plugins so it may never get updated unless someone else takes over the plugin to update it.@per4mance
Have you tried the basic troubleshooting procedures by deactivating all plugins other than BP and reverting to bp-default or twenty twelve theme to see if the same issue persists? If this clears up the issue then it is either the theme or one or more of the plugins in which you can use the process of elimination by re-activating each one individually and testing the registration each time until you find which plugin(s) is causing the issue.In reply to: [Resolved] Where is activity stream privacy?@megainfo
Thanks for the awesome update. I’m looking forward to the new features you listed for the next release!
Keep up the great work! 🙂That is strange and not default BP behavior so you need to supply more info on your setup. I see you have already stated using BP 1.7.1 so what version of WP? What plugins and theme are you using? Have you tried the basic troubleshooting procedures by deactivating all plugins other that BP and reverting to bp-default or twenty twelve theme to see if the same issue persists?
@smartmwp
By default new users are set to subscriber’s so why did you have to set it?
Is the profile fields you want for registration placed in the base profile which shows up automatically on registration? If you added those fields to a new field group which is secondary then it only shows after the user has activated and logged in to their account and go’s to edit their profile in this secondary field you may have created.In reply to: [Resolved] Where is activity stream privacy?@ubernaut @inkblots @hnla @mercime
It is safe to say this issue should be officially closed thanks to the work of @megainfo with the buddypress activity privacy plugin which totally caught me by surprise and throughout my tests I have found it works flawlessly. Here is the link to this awesome plugin:

Thanks again @megainfo !In reply to: Can I make Members Directory Private?Sounds like your theme is throwing an error not the plugin as I have double checked that there is no whitespace. You need to check your theme for any whitespace lines before and after the opening and closing php tags and remove it. As far as modifying the plugin see line 24 in private-community-for-bp.php and change it from this:
if ( bp_is_activity_component() || bp_is_groups_component() || bp_is_group_forum() /*|| bbp_is_single_forum() || bbp_is_single_topic()*/|| bp_is_forums_component() || bp_is_blogs_component() || bp_is_page( BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ) || bp_is_profile_component() ) {To this:
if ( || bp_is_page( BP_MEMBERS_SLUG ) ) {@krisdarty
Didn’t you read the requirements? It states clearly it is compatible up to: WP 3.3.1, BuddyPress 1.5.3.1. So until @djpaul has plans or time to update the plugin then I suppose you should not use it if its not working for you. Otherwise if you have time deadlines and you know how to code then the source is there for you to tweak. Otherwise you may need to hire a developer if you can’t figure it out on your own. I am in big favor of using some code that disallows installing plugins on setups until the specific WP and BP versions fit what it has been tested to work with so it just will not install unless it meets all requirements. If anyone knows a way to handle this then I would like to be educated myself so I can employ it in plugins. I haven’t seen anything in the codex so any advice is good.In reply to: Can I make Members Directory Private?@mshane8
This small plugin makes all buddypress related pages private and redirects logged out visitors to the register page. Read the readme.txt and study the comments in the plugins private-community-for-bp.php if the default functionality does not meet your requirement then you can edit it to do so. Get it here:
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bpIn reply to: Terms of use plugin for Buddy PressSee my response here:
https://buddypress.org/support/topic/terms-of-agreement-checkbox-for-registration/
You will need to write a page of your Terms Of Service and you can add a link in the profile field description that would link to that page. After you create the page just copy the permalink under the Title and then paste it into the field description. For example:<a href="http://your-site/terms-of-service/">By checking the Terms Of Service Box you have read and agree to all the Policies set forth in this sites Terms Of Service</a>Of course this is just an example. As far as making buddypress only visible after they register you can use the technique above in combination with this plugin:
https://github.com/bphelp/private_community_for_bp
Make you to read the readme.txt in this plugins folder as it has some info regarding forums.
Cheers!In reply to: Call to undefined function bp_has_groups()@pierre-j
Just read there error itself. If your not using groups and this theme is calling that function then just comment out the call.
Example:
<?php /*bp_has_groups()*/ ?>@flixya4gabby
Unfortunately your going to have to use the process of elimination by activating each plugin individually and testing against it until you narrow it down to find the plugin that is the culprit. Once you find the plugin that is causing the issue the go to the plugin authors support forum and report your findings.In reply to: Remove profile links@praisehim
For the sake of convenience I made a super light weight plugin wrapped in a class that may enable you to use the Buddypress Xprofile Custom Fields Type plugin along with the plugin I made to get rid of the profile links. Give it a try and give some feedback if this resolves the conflict! Get the plugin here:
https://github.com/bphelp/bp-remove-profile-linksIn reply to: Remove profile links@praisehim
Your very much welcome! Glad I could assist you.In reply to: Remove profile linksI forgot to add this link which explains adding a class which wraps the function of the plugin:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Plugin_API
Note the part about avoiding function name collisions.In reply to: Remove profile links@praisehim
I suggest you ask the plugins author on their support forum why it conflicts with this function. Request that they add a class to the plugin. A lot of times that helps with conflicting functions. If that doesn’t work then simply don’t use the plugin. For now that is the best advise I can give you.@walid3
That sounds like a great idea that maybe you should open a ticket on this.In reply to: Notices don’t work@famous

Same applies here! You need to supply your info as it instructs in the above link on every support topic you open because it is isolated to your individual setup! Otherwise it is just a pure guess which usually doesn’t fix the issue.In reply to: Delete Selected not working@famous

Glad I could help but realistically that would take a huge amount of effort for the BP Dev team to integrate every country, every state, and every city in the world into BP so I don’t think they would look too seriously at something of this nature. But then again that is just my opinion.In reply to: walled garden and bbpress@valuser
Thanks again for the feedback! I will see what I can do to lock down those pages as well.@walid3
Not sure about the translation but add the code in the link below to bp-custom.php
