In reply to: Polylang and BP translation link
hi @osamanuman,
as you asked the same on the polylang support, i would recommend that you wait for an answer of the plugin author.
I’ve never used that plugin, anyway, by reading the description it appears that Polylang is a tool for translating any kind of WP content.Of course BuddyPress is a WP plugin, but as it use pages differently as ordinary WP content, i don’t think that you can use Polylang to translate BuddyPress pages using the plugin default behave: translating by content. You’ll probably have to try the option translate by directory name.
While searching the support forum, i found this, about BP compatibility. Discouraging.
If you read attentively the documentation, you will see that it becames very difficult/complicated to translate BuddyPress because of some permalink settings.
In reply to: Activity issue with old blog postsOh i see. I focused on love the way the activity stream is working for new blog posts and comments …
If you comment today an old post, this comment i now (what you say you love…) attached to that post, wich is already in the feed.
To be clear, a Post published in january and commented today will appear together in the activity stream.
But if you want to see the today’s comment, you have to scroll to the january activities ! Depending your audience this can take a while.
If this is not what you want your SWA, you can revert back to the old schoolish chrnologic activity method for post and comment. Add this to bp-custom.php
function bpfr_stream( $qs, $object ) { if ( 'activity' != $object ) { return $qs; } $qs = wp_parse_args( $qs, array() ); $qs['display_comments'] = 'stream'; return $qs; } add_filter( 'bp_ajax_querystring', 'bpfr_stream', 20, 2 );Give feedback! 😉
In reply to: Activity Author Can Also Delete CommentsPost author is a wordpress concept. And WP doesn’t allow authors to delete comments.
Search about caps on WP Codex or see on the WP forum if you find some help.In reply to: Activity issue with old blog postsActivity feed is not retroactiv, and will never be i guess ! It’s a feed, not an archive with updates. 😉
If interrested by future of BP development, see here

About Post Types and BuddyPress ActivitiesIn reply to: Activity issue with old blog posts1) yes
2) yesIn reply to: [Resolved] French Language helpHave you added a bp translation manually to another folder ? If yes, delete it.
If you use WP since a while and updated it recently, search a line containing define(‘WPLANG’, ‘xx_XX’)- xx_XX is a lang iso code, in wp-config.php. If you find one, delete it as it is no more used in WP 4.1
Control via FTP that bp translation is in wp-content/languages/plugins/buddypress-fr_FR.mo
If not there, ensure that /language/ and /plugins/ have their write access set to 755
The mo file should be 644.In reply to: [Resolved] French Language helpDo you use the french WordPress install ?
Have you selected “french” as your site language ?

Site url ?In reply to: How to add file upload in Profile Fields.did you missed BuddyDrive settings ? See
dashbord > settings > buddydrive (wp-admin/settings.php?page=buddydrive) where you can handle mime types; slugs, max file size upload etcOnce activated the buddydrive access is showing in the usermenu (top right corner)
your-site/members/username/buddydrive/A user must have uploaded a file to appear on the buddydrive admin (your screenshot is empty) !
A good start point for buddydrive is to read the plugin doc. For any technical question about this plugin, please use the plugin support.
If all this is already checked, as you use many security and cache plugins, i recommand that you check these different settings to track some special authorization who maybe disallow file uploads or that kind of restriction…
Aside, your site is not updated and you use a

Error 500 is generic message for multiple cause, wich are out of the scope of this support.
If you need a professionnal help, please post your demand on BP Job Board forum.
In reply to: [Resolved] Required template filesActivation and registration are WordPress dependant and are not only “BP components”. These pages may not be created automatically, depending your WP settings… But according to the error message, you have now to create them.
I understand that you are a bit confused, as you’re in a discovery phase of BuddyPress.
But you should also understand that i can’t explain step by step the whole Codex (WP & BP!).I guess you have to read the doc very attentively. Searching the forum or simply reading some topics will also help you to understand how all this is working.
Install first correctly WP and BP and use one of the Twenty theme, the time for you to learn a bit more. Once you’re comfortable with WP & BP, start your theme development.
In reply to: [Resolved] Required template filesThe following active BuddyPress Components do not have associated WordPress Pages: Activate, Register. Repairmeans that you haven’t installed correctly this 2 BP’s component pages. Read here to understand how this works:
BP 2.x is compliant with almost any theme. bp-default theme is no more used and only there for backwards compatibility.
Templates are in bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/
In reply to: Friendship / relationship typesIn reply to: [Resolved] calendar tabOh i broke my crystal bowl ! How can we know this, if you give no details about your config (theme, plugins….) ? 👿
With a little logic and observation, it seems that:
You’re using an event plugin (events-and-bookings). And events are working with a calendar.
See that plugin settings or search for a function that fires a calendar on profile page in your theme (bp-social).But please, don’t call me Sherlock.
Try this (add to bp-custom.php):
function bpfr_remove_visibility_level( $levels ) { global $bp; if ( isset( $levels['loggedin'] ) ) { unset( $levels['loggedin'] ); } if ( isset( $levels['public'] ) ) { unset( $levels['public'] ); } return $levels; } add_filter( 'bp_xprofile_get_visibility_levels', 'bpfr_remove_visibility_level' );In reply to: [Resolved] admin bar mobile cssIf you want help, you must give details: about what you did and how, theme name,…
That said, the Toolbar belongs to WordPress.
Some ideas here:
BuddyPress use only a few and very minimalistic CSS. See at the end of /bp-templates/bp-legacy/css/buddypress.css for some styles applying to smartphones.
Is it possible to override the function as usual ?
No, not as usual. setup_globals function is part of a class, you have to extend the class.
See better in bp-xprofile-function.php to get some filters.
If the goal is to define user types, you can try this plugin or at least study his code to find a way to achieve your customization.
Or much more simple, define the visibility level and disallow changes.
In reply to: Activity update time laghi @navinachettri,
wide question ! Causes are multiple, from server power to browser settings, medias size and some conflict with a theme, a plugin or a custom function….
An easy thing to do is to restrain the image size and weight in the media settings.
Another thing would be to check the activity page code if you use a child-theme.About flickering, have you tested with different brower ? Could also be a js conflict…
As you see, your question brings more question as answers. Good debug. 😉
