    You’re using a premium theme, so don’t expect much help about it here as we have no access to that theme.

    Check your theme settings and see if it provides some homepage customization like wp settings does for number of posts on a page.

    In any case, test the pagination with one of wp’s twenty theme first.
    To do this you must also deactivate all plugins but BP. If pagination works on homepage set to show latest post, you can activate the theme. And you’ll quickly know what’s happening…

    @mariovisie,

    Another approach maybe.
    See if this topic can help you.

    Female members are served a directory of males and male members are served a directory of females.

    Adding an if statement for couples wouldn’t be to difficult. 😉

    If not, use gravity forms who, i believe, allows such conditionnal forms.

    To remove @username near the header avatar on profile page, use this (in bp-custom.php)

    function bpfr_remove_mention_from_profile() {
    	// hide the hardcoded @ sign and username
    	echo '<style> h2.user-nicename { display:none; } </style>';

    	if( bp_is_user() && ! bp_get_member_user_id() ) {
            $user_id = 'displayed: '. bp_displayed_user_id();
        } else {
            $user_id = 'get_member_user: '. bp_get_member_user_id();
        }

    	remove_filter( 'bp_get_displayed_user_mentionname', bp_activity_get_user_mentionname( bp_displayed_user_id() ) );

    }
    add_filter( 'bp_get_displayed_user_mentionname', 'bpfr_remove_mention_from_profile' );

    To remove the mention sub tab from profile page, use this (in bp-custom.php):

    function bpfr_hide_mention( $retval = 1 ) {
    	$retval = false;
    	// condition
    	if ( bp_is_user() && ! bp_is_my_profile() ) {
    		$retval = true;
    	}
    	return $retval;
    }

    function bpfr_hide_mention_nav() {
    	// stop if condition is not ok
    	if ( ! bpfr_hide_mention() ) {
    		return;
    	}
    	// otherwise we remove the nav item
    	//bp subnav items
    	bp_core_remove_subnav_item( 'activity', 'mentions' );
    }
    add_action( 'bp_ready', 'bpfr_hide_mention_nav' );

    To unlink @mention (this removes only the link not the mentionned username) AND remove the public message button, use this (in bp-custom.php):
    add_filter( 'bp_activity_do_mentions', '__return_false' );

    To allow the new BP 2.1 @mention tool in bbPress, use this (in bp-custom.php):

    function bpfr_bbpress_maybe_load_mentions_scripts( $retval = false ) {
    	if ( function_exists( 'bbpress' ) && is_bbpress() ) {
    		$retval = true;
    	}

    	return $retval;
    }
    add_filter( 'bp_activity_maybe_load_mentions_scripts', 'bpfr_bbpress_maybe_load_mentions_scripts' );

    Tested with WP 4.1 – BP 2.1.1 – bbP 2.5.4

    This is not a BP issue but a user setting error.

    Go to Dashboard > Pages > Members – quick edit > deactivate Allow comments.
    Do the same thing for all other activated components page.

    Check your WP & BuddyPress comments settings.

    Check also your theme docmentation as it could be that he use a custom setting for comments.
    If you don’t know or find, activate one of wp’s twenty theme and see if the issue is still there.

    Do you use a cache ? If yes, clear it !
    Same thing for your browser. F5, F5, F5, mister 😉

    Or even better, give an url.

    Ok, you’re in an intense learning stage ! 😉 But i’m affraid i can’t help you to do this.

    – the theme used on this support is a custom work and doesn’t exist for public.
    – for other questions, yes, it is better to ask one question by topic.
    – googling around “wordpress toolbar tricks, customization” bring very helpfull result. But if php is not your cup of tea, i would recommend you to not try to modifiate it.

    Rome wasn’t made in one day.
    Reading this forum is a good starting point to learn how BP work’s.

    @danbp

    You use now the old bp-default theme…. For test only, as it is not best practice with 2.1 😉

    A brief homepage source code check indicates that you’re using 2 different themes. (theme-my-login & harrington).

    You use also a third party search plugin.

    Debug your site !

    – deactivate the actual theme and use one of wp’s twenty theme
    – deactivate all plugins but BP
    – activate debug mode in wp-config

    If no errors, reactivate the theme.
    If no errors, ractivate plugins one by one until you find the culprit.

    You’re also using https on the register page, but there are errors concerning mixed content. Read more here about this.

    You’re question is more server oriented and a bit over the scope of this support. Anyway….

    You can put different tables in different db on the same server, but how are you going to make WordPress aware of where each table is ?

    In standart usage, multisite with BuddyPress is working with one WP, one DB and one BP plugin and as many sites you want (preferably as sub-domains).

    To manage multiple db’s, try perhaps HyperDB.

    Can’t help you more. Sorry. 😉

    @danbp

    You’re welcome !
    bbPress and BuddyPress are TWO separate plugin, and you’re here on the BuddyPress support. 😉

    If you have questions related to bbP, please visit their support for better chance to get the right answer.

    As it is a bit unclear what you’re doing with buddypress for the moment, see here about vbulletin import into bbPress.

    I guess you do it wrong.

    If you need an extra page, the usual method is to copy the page.php file of your theme into your child-theme and make your modification in that file.

    See WP and BP codex for this.

    To show an xprofile value somewhere, and specially outside of the profile loop, you just write a function for that and add it to your child-theme functions.php

    This forum is full of examples of how you can do this.

    As example, here’s a snippet to fetch a profile field with the ID 42

    function bpfr_field( $custom_field ) {
    	global $bp;

    	// is xprofile component active ?
    	if ( bp_is_active( 'xprofile' ) )

    	// fetch the user_id. Mandatory.
    	$current_user = wp_get_current_user();
    	$current_user_id = $current_user->ID;

    	// fetch the data
    	$custom_field = xprofile_get_field_data('42', $current_user_id); // 42 is a field ID

    	// show the data
    	echo '<div class="authorinfo">'. $custom_field .'</div>';

    }
    add_action( 'myfield', 'bpfr_field', 1 );

    And at the appropriate place on your template, you add an action hook

    <?php do_action( 'myfield'); ?>

    No need to reinvent the wheel or to call wp twice. 😉

    Tested with IE and FF.
    Deactivate all plugins but BP and see if it change something.
    Do you use a custom script in bp-custom.php or some shortcode on one of your page ?
    Note that all BP components page must be empty – without any text or code.

    hxxp://vibral.co.za/wp-login.php?action=register. This is correct and not an issue.

    On the Toolbar (now that it is correctly showing), from left to right

    WP logo icon with some related wp site and stuff in sub-menu

    BuddyPress Admin menu (or network admin), and if multisite, access to the different other dashboards. As super-admin you will see all probably.

    Note when network is activated, you have by default 2 dashbords anyway. The mainsite or network dashboard and WP’s dashboard.

    Edit menu – depending your role on the site you access from here to new post, comments and so on.

    And on the right, the howdy menu aka usermenu. Where sit a login/logout menu and all the access links to your buddypress profile, messages, groups, etc

    So far, so good. But what do you want to achieve now ?

    @danbp

    Participant

    Looks ok for now…
    Check your page permalink slugs, to avoid errors in the future.
    For example, the url of the register page is hxxp://vibral.co.za/register-4/
    Should be hxxtp://vibral.co.za/register/

    Same thing for members and groups. Remove -3 !
    Permalink is just under the page title when on page editor

    Remind also to empty trash 😉

    I’m unable to reproduce the issue (wp 4.1/bp 2.1.1). Both theme – 2014 and Tempura – are working correctly and as expected.

    If you uncheck the Toolbar in BP settings, there is no toolbar on the page for logged out user. Actually there is one on your page!

    With 2014, the login/logout button in the left sidebar, by default
    With Tempura, you have to add the login widget (dashboard > appearence > widget) yourself.

    @danbp

    Participant

    Tempera theme was recently updated and normally you haven’t to use the old buddybar.
    So the define is of no utility… (see ticket)

    BP use now the WordPress Toolbar.

    It looks also that you have 2 activity pages, 2 members page and 2 groups page. There should be only one. See if you have deleted pages, and clear the trash.
    Also set up the pretty permalinks (anything but default), or at least re-save that setting page.

    Finally, make a test with one of wp’s default theme, bring anything to work, before activating Tempera.

    I use another theme of the same author, and if like i suspect, there is the same theme customization tool in Tempera, you must be carefull with that theme settings.

    In BP settings, you have an option to show/hide the toolbar to logged out user. Deactivate it.

    And read the theme doc attentively ! 😉

    You’ll need to provide more info.

    Means at least that you mention here the used plugins and theme name.

    Using WP 4.1, BP 2.1.1, unable to duplicate your issue.

    Means that there is no incompatibility between WP and BP, but could suggest that there is a problem elsewhere…

    One thing you can do is to enable debug mode in wp-config.php and see if you receive php warnings or notices.

    A provisory solution could to use a template overload of groups/single/admin.php by removing the unwanted items from this file ?

    hi @trkr,

    the function you’re looking for is bp_group_admin_tabs in bp-groups-template.php

    More details about group admin tabs (new in 2.1) here

    hi @ugd,

    Codex is your friend !

    https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/

    The easiest solution is to use a custom language file…and to rename the group page to Team.

    Why don’t you use xProfile built-in component to add your custom field group and field ?
