    Easier ? May be if you’re comfortable with coding custom functions !
    Problems ? Which ones ? Why would you have less(or more) problems with a custom snippet as with a plugin ?

    To check the existence of a cover image, see bp_attachments_get_user_has_cover_image( $user_id )
    Is defined in bp-core/bp-core-attachments.php:1064

    Hi !
    not the absolute solution, but at least a starting point. Here’s a tutorial by BuddyDev which explains how you can do that.

    Hi !
    Try this plugin, it does exactly what you need. In BP options, leave Replace BP 2.4 functionality unchecked and you’re done.

    Hi !

    unable to recreate this issue on a standart install and 2016 activated.

    This button comes only up on Group Directory: All Groups | My Groups | Create Group and not when you’re inside an existing group (where you see Send invites).

    There is another button for this on the WP Toolbar > Usermenu > Groups > Create Group
    And both are displayed correctly on Twenty Sixteen.

    Within buddypress.css default file, there is no specific rule for it.
    In case of, button’s ID on BuddyMenu is #group-create-nav

    For now,
    – is group creation allowed for all users (see in BP options) ?
    – do you see the button in the usermenu (top right corner) and does it work ?

    No idea what’s your issue, but i don’t believe it is BuddyPress. Maybe a plugin or a JS issue. Difficult to say more without a live URL. 😉

    Have you tried to use my snippet example ?
    The code in the Themekraft tutorial is outdated. Current reference is the Nav API.

    Strange ! Is WordPress in german ?
    Dashboard > Settings > General > Site Language

    BP translation file goes to wp-content/languages/plugins/buddypress-de_DE.mo

    Hallo!

    Dowload it from here:
    https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/buddypress/stable/de/default

    Select po and mo extension at the bottom of the page where’s written “Export”

    Arrrgggl ! 🙂 You’re loosing your time by trying to do that. BP Default will be definetly built out soon.
    Read WP codex about child theme and use this solution in any case. Whatever change you make in a core file will be owerwriten at next update. Theme modification should be made from within a child-theme, so it is safe even when an update is made on the original.

    And read at least here about BuddyPress theming.

    Your link is 7 years old ! That’s a prehistoric reference 🙂 and outdated!
    If you’re talking about the Notification(x) item on BuddyMenu, it is in the language file where you can change it or use the trick indicated on Nav Api codex page (mentionned in the above post).

    Example:

    function bpcodex_change_unread_nav_name() {
        buddypress()->members->nav->edit_nav( array(
            'name' => 'The new name in whatever language',
        ), 'notifications' );
    }
    add_action( 'bp_setup_nav', 'bpcodex_change_unread_nav_name', 100 );

    Add the snippet to bp-custom.php

    @cvtbrian,

    1) if you plan high traffic, don’t use a shared host but a VPS. You may also need access to php.ini, as the memory_limit often lacks on shared host (you need at least 128mo for this to get BP running in good conditions).

    2) difficult to answer. What the difference between 10GB of space(on your host or on a cloud) and 10GB of cached files ? Not the space, but the speed. I presume you will need space AND speed.

    3) to increase performance, you have first to install correctly WP, theme and plugins. Set up some rules about image size and a lot of other little things related to what user can do/or not on the site. Wait for traffic and compare to know if it worth to go further with performance (as this may be a paid service). WP Rocket (premium plugin) may be one of such a tool.

    Yes !
    allmost all member related loops are in bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/ and in /members/single/ for the profile template

    Hi,

    the error is because you’re loosing the current user.
    Read codex about Navigation API (since 2.6) and use the new code to remove properly group settings tabs.

    Hi !

    bp-default is a deprecated theme since 1.7 (2013) and only in for backward compatibility.

    If you use latest BP, you can use almost any existing theme and preferably with a child-theme if you customize your site.

    Custom code can be added to bp-custom.php or into child-theme’s functions.php

    BPB doesn’t handle with wp roles. The plugin adds only a progress % column to users admin.
    Try to deactivate this column in wp-admin/users.php > screen option > Profile Status

    Do you get some php errors when wp_debug is activated in wp-config ?

    @danbp

    Perhaps check for quotes ? You use ‘ instead '

    The snippet will work by changing them.

    define( 'BP_DEFAULT_COMPONENT', 'profile' ); // Triem nova pestanya per defecte

    function bphelp_remove_activity_from_profile(){

    bp_core_remove_nav_item('activity');
    }
    add_action('bp_activity_setup_nav','bphelp_remove_activity_from_profile');

    FYI, minutes vs. hours ! 🙂

    When you search strings, open the .pot file provided with almost any theme and plugin for translation.
    In this text format file, you will find (if exist) the string and ALSO the file and the line # where it is used.

    Hi @bigkahunaburger,

    thanks for the burger! 😉
    Like you, I’m not a JS specialist so i can’t help you more with that. 🙁

    But i can suggest you an alternative solution by using MediaPress. It appears that this plugin allows you to add mediabuttons by shortcode to the Status form (and not only there…).

    Take a little moment to study this option, completely or to check the code how the author implemented it.

    Which plugin did you use for the 2nd register page ?

    WP need for any user, a username, an email and a password. That’s mandatory even if you have 2 or 50 register page.

    If you use only BP’s default register page and add a select box where you can choose Teacher or Student, you can afterwards give teachers a role of editor. That’s do able with built-in member_type

    Also, depending the role with help of conditionnal field plugin, you can show fields for teachers only, for students only or both.

    Another solution would be to add manually the teachers directly from within the admin. Usually, a school has less teachers as students. This shouldn’t be to difficult to add 10 or 20 teachers. This can also be handy as you can give them a lower capability (ie author) and attribute “editor” to only one or two of them, which will be in charge of students registering and dispatching. So in fact, only students have to register from front-end.

    Another alternative would be to use what’s described here.

    Hi !

    BPB was made for BuddyPress, not to fit all existing membership plugins, especilly for premium plugins whose code is not public. If you need a feature related to paid membership pro, you have to ask this plugin author how to do this. I’m the author of BPB, but can’t help you for this. Sorry !

    @danbp

    Hi,

    Sorry but we can’t assist you for premium plugins. You have to ask for help on the plugin support forum.

    @danbp

    Hi,

    this question is not related to BuddyPress as it seems you use Events Manager to let your members add events. Accordingly to plugin’s demo, you’ll probably have such a page.

    From what i see on demo, the visual editor is the one used by WordPress. Read on WP Codex how to customize TinyMCE and use wp-editor function.

    Maybe you could use this plugin to your advantage ?
