    Deactivate all plugins except BP and activate a WP default Twenty theme and test.

    If it is ok, reactivate and test by one one the plugins.
    If ok reactivate kleo.

    Search for “kleo” on this forum, you might find some related topics.

    If nothing helps from the above, you have to contact the theme support. We can’t help you much here with premium themes, as we have no free access to it’s code.

    Hi,

    On your Toolbar you have the correct link to the correct register page !
    http://www.nyfertility.org/register/ (which is not blank at all !) 😉

    Note that WP/BP use mostly php files. Searching for file-name.html brings generally nothing else as blank pages.

    When you create a page or use one of BP pages, edit the page and get the permalink (underneath the page title), so you be sure to have the correct path to it.

    Other advice ? 🙂 Hum… read the documentation!

    Hi,

    i would use a cleaner code like what is indicated here.

    WP function references
    wp_mail_from
    wp_mail_from_name

    BP function references
    bp_core_email_from_name_filter
    bp_core_email_from_address_filter

    NB: please use the code button when you insert code on this forum.

    @ico33, i have no exact idea what’s happening on your install. It’s a bit strange.

    From what you relate, when you delete a topic it is “normal” that it diseappear from dashboard (from topic list of Forum admin at least). On front it seems there is a problem. I presume you already tried to refresh the page after you got a 404 ?

    I already asked you if you use bbPress as standalone or group forum and if you use a cache. Can you give details about this please ?

    Anyway i think there is a bug somewhere, so please don’t panic and be patient.

    While testing this (wp 4.6, BP 2.6.2 and bbP 2.5.10) i got some difference between MS and single installs.

    – On MS, the activity is removed as soon as i delete the topic in forum admin. All my MS are live sites and use standalone forums.
    – On my local MS with standalone forum, nothing is removed from activity and i’m unable to restore a trashed topic.

    Doing the same thing on various local single install and group forums doesn’t remove the activity.
    Also on single, when i trash a topic i’m unable to untrash it.

    I quickly checked on BP & bbP trac but found nothing about this issue.

    @djpaul, @netweb @jjj thanks for your thoughts !

    No, i don’t think so.
    First check within dashboard > Activity that this activity doesn’t exist.
    Check also Forum’s topic list (within admin) and ensure you removed the whole topic and not only a reply to a topic or a reply to a reply… Weird i know, but it can happen.

    Perhaps you can also verify other activity type such as a profile upddate or publishing a notice.

    Create something who generates an activity.
    Go to Site Wide Activity on front and see if it appears.
    Go to dashboard and delete it from the list.
    Verify that it is removed on front.

    Now loggin as subscriber and not as site admin.
    Again create an activity. See if it appears and delete it.

    Finally do the same test with a forum topic, as site admin and single user.

    Also, do you use a standalone forum or group forums ?

    Hi @shughesd,

    for clarification, the first topic author mentionned Trying to find where to edit the text above the fields.
    Are you looking for the exact same thing ?
    Is register.php in the right folder ? /child/buddypress/members/register.php ?

    The only text above the fields when registration is allowed is
    Registering for this site is easy. Just fill in the fields below, and we\’ll get a new account set up for you in no time.

    You have 2 options to edit/modify this string:
    – using the language file if you only want to change the text.
    – modify it in register.php if you want to change the HTML tag (by default it’s <p>)

    Other text above fields is the field title.
    This can be changed in fields admin. Dashboard > Users > Profile Fields. Edit the field and change the title to your need.

    And finally, which doesn’t need any alteration of a template or language file, you can use one of the 30 action hooks existing in register.php

    You can write a function and hook it to the placeholder of your choice. To do this, you add the below functions to bp-custom.php

    Example
    Add a welcome message at the top of the registration page, above Registering for this site.
    And another one below it.

    function my_custom_register_msg_title() {
    echo '<h2>Welcome on my site !</h2>';
    }
    add_action( 'bp_before_register_page', 'my_custom_register_msg_title' );

    function my_custom_register_message() {
    echo '<p>Thank you for registering.</p>';
    }
    add_action( 'bp_before_account_details_fields', 'my_custom_register_message' );

    In hope it helps you to understand the principle of operation on templates.

    Yes you need one option. The settings i use:

    Title: Terms of Service
    Description: By checking this box you agree with our Terms of Service (with a link on Terms of Service to the TOS page)

    Field type: checkboxes
    Option: I agree ( default value: unchecked )

    Visibility: just-me with option: enforce visibility

    If you use member types, select all MT options

    and that’s it

    Hi,

    usually it is because you haven’t established any friendship. Go on a profile or Members Directory, click on Add as Friend.

    Back to the group and see if this profile appears on the Invite tab.

    Friends → Friendships

    If you are in a BP dicovery phase, i recommand you to use BP Default Data plugin. Once activated you will have fake content in all BP active components (users, groups, friendships and so on). So you can see where and who see what.

    Thank you for clarification. The screenshot you linked to shows the Followers item with an ID of
    members-following-personal-li This belongs to a follower plugin or to a built-in addon of your theme.

    As explained, on profile pages it will end with “-personal-li” and on group pages it will end with “-groups-li”. The notification component add “notification”, so you have notifications-personal-li.

    The question now is: do you want to change the CSS rule or something in the html (ie. change li to div) ?

    If it is the css rule, you do that in your child theme file style.css

    #notifications-personal-li {
        // do something
    }

    If it is the html, you have to work on the notification template, also from within the child.
    And if it is a core functionnality – like moving or renaming the item: it’s explained on Codex:

    Hi,

    you can try to remove the private message button from the template or hide it with CSS.
    And add a custom one who leads to admin inbox.

    The link should look like
    http://your-site.com/members/YOU/messages/compose/?r=THE ADMIN&_wpnonce=an_alpha_numeric_value

    See here how you may code this

    Codex and Forum are your friends to search about template customization.

    This is not how your child theme should fire a BP page…
    Have you a “buddypress” folder in your child ?

    Which theme do you use ?

    @danbp

    Participant

    i can’t replicate your issue. My snippet works as expected and when TOS box is not checked, the registration is aborded.
    You can test the error messages appearing for required fields by going to register page. Don’t fill any field and click on regiter. Does this work ?

    Also do you use any kind of plugin on registration page or for xprofile fileds ? Or other custom code ?

    The description field is stripped by default. But you should be able to add an href by using single cotes. But that’s all. If you insert a target to href, it will be removed.

    @danbp

    Participant

    You must check BP’s templates to get the correct css or to use Firebug (or similar) to find easily what you search. Or search in the page source for a H1 tag…

    Ie site activity page title looks like: <h1 class="entry-title">Site-Wide Activity</h1>

    Add this to your child theme syle.css file and give a try

    h1.entry-title {
        display: none!important;
    }

    Please use the <code> button when you insert code on the forum.

    On which page exactly do you see this code ?
    If on your profile, thought it should be notifications-my-notifications-personal-li

    Do you use a child theme ?
    What is your theme ?
    Do you use a notification related plugin ?

    Hi !
    How could this have happened ?
    Are you sure you clicked on private message and not on public message ? Or have you checked the option
    This is a notice to all users ?

    But no worry ! To delete this notice, go to your profile, click on Messages > Notices and delete the message from the list.

    @danbp

    Hi !

    You can easily do this from wp’s users admin.
    Once one or x members where promoted as “editor” or whatever wp role you created, you can attribute them to a group.

    The snippet you’ll find on the codex will add a new bulk action “add to bp group” to the existing bulk selector, above the user list.

    Select the concerned member(s), click on Apply. In the box showing up, add the group id, save and you’re done !

    You can see the result by going to dashboard > groups > select the group you’ve added members and edit the group. See the group user list at the bottm of the page and verify the new user(s) are there.

    The problem is that the activity stream stripes shortcodes like wp’s quicktag “more”.
    Comment in bp-activity-filter.php:464 says
    If the text returned by bp_create_excerpt() is different from the original text (ie it’s
    been truncated), add the “Read More” link. Note that bp_create_excerpt() is stripping
    shortcodes, so we have strip them from the $text before the comparison.

    So if you’re used to write posts with excerpts, using the_excerpt instead of the_content would effectively bring the excerpt on the feed, but if the excert counts 1500 words, you will see them all !

    If you use the_content, BP will add a read more link after 55 word by defaults, what ever the real amount of words in the post.

    But with the above function active, SWA is no more in default configuration for this activity type.

    So you’ll probably have better to use this function with the_content > full post and add a custom length for post activities.
    Read here how to do that.

    For the author name, you have to use get_userdata.

    This should work:

    function bp_full_posts_in_activity_feed( $content, $activity ) {

       if ( 'new_blog_post' == $activity->type ) {
          $post = get_post( $activity->secondary_item_id );
          if ( 'post' == $post->post_type )
    	$title = isset( $post->post_title ) ? $post->post_title : '';
    	$content = apply_filters( 'the_content', $post->post_content ); // or post_excerpt
    	$author = get_userdata( $post->post_author )->user_nicename;  // or display_name;
         }

        echo "<h2 align=center>" .$title. "</h2>";
        echo '<h5 align=center>By '. $author .'</h5>';
        echo $content;

    }
    add_filter( 'bp_get_activity_content_body', 'bp_full_posts_in_activity_feed', 10, 2 );

    Apparently nothing to do with BuddyPress.

    To complete this topic, a little tutorial to restrict Updates to a BuddyPress “member_type” (not a WP role).
    Spec: only Teachers are allowed to publish.
    Required: a member_type of “teacher”.

    The Update form used for Site, Members and Group activities is in
    wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/post-form.php
    This form is called by the function bp_get_template_part everywhere BP needs it. In this case, in 3 different component: activities, members and groups.

    What we are going to do is to add a condition before calling the template part. Without altering core or even your theme. Just telling BP to show the form if condition is ok and doing nothing if the condition doesn’t fit.

    Let’s go !

    You need a template overload of 3 files. Copy them into your child theme buddypress directory by respecting the path (ie. child-theme/buddypress/members/single/file

    wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/index.php
    	Line 31: <?php bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' ); ?>

    wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/groups/single/activity.php
    	Line 54: <?php bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' ); ?>

    wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/single/activity.php
    	Line 48: bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' );

    In each file before bp_get_template_part there is an if statement.

    We’re going to add one more for the member_type of “teacher” by using var $member_type == 'teacher'

    For that, we need a user_id and the member_type of that user. If both fit to the whole if condition, we call the template part. If not, the template is not called. And voila.

    We are adding 2 lines: ($user_id and $member_type) and a condition (&& $member_type == 'teacher') to the existing statement.

    The only thing you have to change is the member_type name (teacher) to fit yours.
    If you do it correctly, here’s how the end result should look alike.

    This snippet goes to /activity/index.php (see line # above)

    <?php
    $user_id = bp_loggedin_user_id();
    $member_type = bp_get_member_type( $user_id );

    if ( is_user_logged_in()  &&  $member_type == 'teacher' ) : ?>
       <?php bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' ); ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    This one goes to /groups/single/activity.php

    <?php
    $user_id = bp_loggedin_user_id();
    $member_type = bp_get_member_type( $user_id );

    if ( is_user_logged_in() && bp_group_is_member() &&  $member_type == 'teacher' ) : ?>
       <?php bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' ); ?>
    <?php endif; ?>

    And this one is for /members/single/activity.php

    <?php
    $user_id = bp_loggedin_user_id();
    $member_type = bp_get_member_type( $user_id );

    if ( is_user_logged_in() && $member_type == 'teacher' && bp_is_my_profile() && ( !bp_current_action() || bp_is_current_action( 'just-me' ) ) )
    	bp_get_template_part( 'activity/post-form' );

    /**
     * Fires after the display of the member activity post form.

    In hope it helps.

    I doubt that it stopped to work as it was updated recently (29 March, 2016).
    You’ve better to ask for this issue on the plugin support.

    In the meanwhile, have you activated wp_debug in wp-config ?
    Perhaps this will show you some php errors you ignore at this time.

    You could (should) also give some details about your install when asking such obscur question. Do you use custom functions, plugin list, theme name, wp, bp, php version…

    @danbp

    Participant

    This is normally working. You may have a problem on your site.

    Try this:
    activate one of the twenty theme
    save your permalinks (even if you change nothing, just save)
    use the repair tool in dashboard and let it recalculate anything.
    If you use a cache plugin, clear it.
    Check also your brower (abuse of F5 if necessary) or clear at least the cookie history.
