In reply to: [Resolved] Auto Generated Link in User Profiles
Hi,
this feature is currently handled field by field when you’re on the field creation page.
dashboard > Users > Profile Fields
Edit an existing field and see in the right column the box named Autolink. From there you can choose to enable/disable it.For more details about the concerned fields and autolinking, read comments in bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-filters.php:322
In reply to: Fatal ErrorPlease don’t double post on this forum.
You activated BuddyPress Custom Profile Menu plugin and got a fatal error. Remove it or rename his folder via FTP, so you can access your dashboard again.
Then contact the plugin author.
Since 2.6, BP use a new navigation API. Maybe the plugin isn’t updated for that or there is another conflict with your theme. In reply to: Attribution for cover imagesWhat do you mean by how to set the attribution for the photos. So far i know there are no attributes for group cover images.
In reply to: Registration Form Issue…Try this (goes to bp-custom.php )
function my_disable_bp_registration() { remove_action( 'bp_init', 'bp_core_wpsignup_redirect' ); remove_action( 'bp_screens', 'bp_core_screen_signup' ); } add_action( 'bp_loaded', 'my_disable_bp_registration' );function my_redirect_signup_page(){ //return wp_registration_url(); return bp_get_root_domain() . '/wp-signup.php'; } add_filter( 'bp_get_signup_page', 'my_redirect_signup_page' );In reply to: Site-Wide Colored Namesok. Now do i understand right ?
You have 4 groups and each one has a color assigned.
User belonging to Group Blue get his name in blue, user belongig to Group Red get his name in red ?
And this should remain only for all group activities ?Npt on profile, site activity or members directory ?
In reply to: Bulk RegistrationIn which format is your user list ? And does that list contains the same # of columns (10) as wp_user table ?
If you have access to the DB and phpMyAdmin, you can do this directly with mySql.
phpMyAmin has an import/export tool.Note that if the site is already pw-protected, importing only usernames and emails won’t let them access. You need also to import a pw for them.
In reply to: Activity Pages Not Being RenderedGo to dashboard > permalinks and save.

In reply to: Edit Profile link inside Settings subnavhi @damland,
it’s not exactly intended to move screens from one tab to another.
For nav and subnav of the buddynav you can
– add tabs
– remove tabs
Each menu item has (under other) a slug, a parent url and a screen function.
In the present case, the Edit item slug belongs to the user profile.
Something like: site-name/members/username/profile/edit/
And the Profile Settings url is site-name/members/username/settings/This means if you remove Edit from one place to add it to the other, you will have two different url’s ! Something like
site-name/members/username/settings/profile/edit/
which will logicaly fire a 404 error on click. Also when you remove a nav item, it removes also the attached screen function.
The trick to use is not to built out the Edit button – as this would remove the whole edit screen and trying to add to Settings, but simply to hide the button on the profile and add a copy of it on the Settings subnav.
We use CSS to hide the button. Note that the menu css is the same for all items wherever the tab they are used.

Give that a try and tell us if it worked for you.
In reply to: Site-Wide Colored NamesAnd where should this appear ?
In reply to: Url – username urlWouldn’t trying to do that as it will break to many functions and also JS…
To get an idea see a part of the task – and it’s not related to url’s !
In reply to: [Resolved] Favourite in blogsCheck here if it still works

In reply to: Not recently activeIn reply to: StatusTo restrict the usage of the What’s New form to only admins and editors…
Copy post-form.php from (bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/ ) to (/your-child-theme/buddypress/activity/).
In the copy, add
if ( bp_current_user_can( 'editor' ) ) :above the form tab and addendif;right after the closing form tag, at the end of the file and you’re done.
Note to take care of the existing php tags.In reply to: Trouble changing default settings tabwhere is that nav ? On backend or on frontend profile or group settings page ?
In reply to: Activity tab title text changeYep, you’re right, the forced translation comes only if you reload the page.
That’s the dark side of a dirt trick. 😉
Now, in a very real use case, this wouldn’t happen very often for not saying never. Most users will (hopefully for you) favorite activities, but i don’t believe that many will favorite and suddenly decide to unfavorite all their stuff and will restart immediatly to fav…
If you don’t agree with this, you still have the possibility to change text in the template or to use the po/mo file.
In witch language is your site ?
On WPBeginner:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-themes/how-to-create-a-wordpress-child-theme-video/and as always, WP Codex is your friend.
In reply to: Activity tab title text changeAnnoying to work on a site where you’re not allowed to access the child-theme!
As you can see in index.php, there is no action hook for these buttons. The only other way i know is a dirty trick using directly gettext.
Add this to bp-custom.phpfunction abcd_gettext( $translated, $original_text, $domain ) { if ( 'buddypress' !== $domain ) return $translated; switch ( $original_text ) { case 'All Members %s': return 'All Buddies %s'; case 'My Friends %s': return 'My Amigos %s'; default: return $translated; } } add_filter( 'gettext', 'abcd_gettext', 10, 3 );More about that trick here:

By default, a wp site is managed by roles.
Site admin, editors and so on…https://codex.wordpress.org/Roles_and_Capabilities
Members management, including registering new user directly on admin dashboard (outside of the normal registering process) is only allowed for site admins and editors.
Another solution could be to use some conditionnal fields with help of a plugin. But before giving more information for that, please give more details about what you plan exactly and the context of the site.
For example, why must the teacher register his students ? Sounds a bit strange to me.
I’m unable to reproduce this issue on a single install.
– registered using alex@test.com as username and alex as name (BP’s name field)
– on his profile, aside the header avatar i see @alextest-comAny member links works as expected.
Tested also on MS. Trying to register alex@test.com brings the following error msg:
Usernames can only contain lowercase letters (a-z) and numbers. Is correct too and expected for usernames on a MS install. (see #17904)
Do you use custom code, login or social plugin related to login ?
What is your theme ?
Have you tested with a Twenty theme and all plugins deactivated ?See CSS file in bp-templates/bp-legacy/css/buddypress.css and copy it to your buddypress folder in the child.
In reply to: Activity tab title text changeyou can do that via the language file or alter the text of those items directly in the activity template, via a child-theme.
Concerned file is in bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/activity/index.php:72,91,108In reply to: PluginMost probably, you have to search about buddypress on the plugin repo:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/search.php?q=buddypressNo theme has a child theme. It’s to you to create one. That’s necessary if you whant to add custom style without loosing it at next update.
Sorry i don’t read chinese, but you’ll probably find some guidance on chinese WP codex
