Excellent! Someone else with this problem. If a third person could test and confirm, we’ve got ourselves a live one!
In reply to: User pointsThread resurrection!
I have a beta version which I’ve given to a few people, so things are getting close to a public release.
In reply to: NotificationModify them how?
In reply to: Newest Active Popular problemDid you remember to move the updated themes across when you updated BP?
In reply to: problem with ie6 and rtlMost web developers are beginning to decide not to support IE6 as it is very old and has horrendous standards support.
Not knowing how and what changes you have made, it is impossible for us to comment. Have you tried searching Google for issues with whatever techniques you are using on IE?
In reply to: RSS wiget can’t get MU blogs feedsI don’t wish to start moderating this discussion, so please keep things civil.
Original poster; your RSS feed links are password protected. You will be able to access them as you will have previously authenticated at some point. However, depending on how you try to include them on a page, the web server may be making a request to load them. As it doesnt have the password, it can’t load them.
We are not going to go into your server and look at things for you.
In reply to: Notification on group wire change not working? It is a known bug. There is a patch in the bug tracker if you can’t wait for the next release.
In reply to: SiteWide Activity Widget Broken in 1.0.3?Don’t run a public site on trunk? I mean, I have a local development installation of trunk but to run that publicly…
The most recent trunk entirely changes the way the forums component is integrated into BuddyPress, which is why you are getting these problems.
In reply to: Should we use WP/BP or another platform?Take a look at https://wordpress.org/showcase/ for examples of some of the best sites built on WordPress. WordPress itself is a stable and exciting for building sites and CMSs on, and the showcase which I’ve linked you to will let you browse the highlighted best.
The ‘biggest’ BuddyPress installation – other than this site – that I am aware of, is GigaOM Pro.
I’m not going to sell the idea of using BuddyPress to you
but perhaps if you make a short list of the key features and ideas that are essential, and things you would like to have, we can all comment the feasibility.
In reply to: custom button in buddy-barWell, if you’ve already read this https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/modifying-the-buddypress-admin-bar/ and maybe this https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2283, and do not understand, unless you are prepared to further your understanding of PHP and WordPress’ API, you need to find a developer to write the code for you.
In reply to: Remove Image Upload Option from SIGNUP only.Ah, r-a-y’s got a good suggestion! That one is definately easier to do, but it depends how hard your users want to try to get around it
In reply to: Remove Image Upload Option from SIGNUP only.Look at /bp-xprofile/bp-xprofile-signup.php. I’m not writing your code for you, but from the looks of things, I think you need to remove_action() the xprofile_add_signup_fields() call, and add_action your own version of this function, but obviously removing the avatar form field.
Best place for the code would probably be /plugins/bp-custom.php and make your add_action have a priority of 11.
In reply to: Auto activate plugin for Member Blogs only.I can see that you have cross-posted this over on the WPMU forums. You have a response from andrea_r, about an hour ago (as of time of posting), which you have replied to about 40 minutes ago.
This is definitely a WPMU question as this doesn’t involve BuddyPress, so you were right posting it there, but there was no need to post it here.
In reply to: 4 RequestSir
Please stop posting the same message. There is one lead developer on BuddyPress who works for Automattic, and he has a roadmap full of things to work on. The current target is BuddyPress v1.0.4 (a bugfix release) and as you can see from this thread, there are lots of known bugs to resolve to get v1.0.4 out the door, let alone implementation of any new features.
If for your website there are some priority features you require which haven’t been written yet, either learn to code/code them in yourself or hire someone to develop them for you.
In reply to: 4 RequestHello
Point 4 is a standard WPMU option and can be found in the Site Options panel of the admin interface.
Photo albums are something that will become a part of BuddyPress eventually (i.e. don’t hold your breath). There is an interim plugin you can use which provides a photo gallery to BuddyPress. I haven’t used it myself but you can find it on https://buddypress.org/extend/plugins/.
The big problem I can see with point 2 is that you are inviting spammers and vandalism in to your site.
In reply to: Group name in cyrillic (unicode)However the slug is generated obviously doesn’t handle such character sets very well, as it does screw up the slug name – I don’t think it is limited to a number of characters being stripped out (there might be a built-in limit or some tags removed by a regex etc).
Please would you post this as a bug on the trac? Thanks
In reply to: Group name in cyrillic (unicode)Pardon my ignorance, but it would help test if you could provide a sample cyrillic string so we can try to recreate this bug – you probably can’t post it here on the forum without it messing up the character encoding but are you able to upload a .txt someplace?
In reply to: Group message-mail not sendingI have fixed this bug – see this ticket.
In reply to: Updated to 2.8.1 and now have a fatal errorHave you deactivated Buddypress before trying to upgrade Buddypress?
In reply to: Why domain has to be SINGLE value for WPMU?In addition to the advice above, this is also a question best suited for the WPMU forums.
In reply to: BP and JoomlaI’m not aware of any, but then I wouldn’t necessarily be – this is probably the first mention of Joomla i’ve seen on these forums
In reply to: Activity streamTake a look at the example custom component. There’s an example how to use that function.
In reply to: Downloading version 1.0.2Yes, but I think 1.0.3 has security fixes as well as improved WPMU 2.8.1, so that is something you will need to keep in mind.
If anyone uses trunk BuddyPress, they should be prepared for errors and for things to be broken.
In reply to: Where can I get the theme used on buddypress.org?You can’t. It’s private for this site only, mainly because BuddyPress’ lead developer, Andy Peatling, doesn’t want every site to look like the official BuddyPress site.
This has been asked and answered several times on this forum before; doing a search before posting your question doesn’t hurt!
