In reply to: Ajax areas not working correctlyUsing $() in wordpress will call Prototype’s implementation, so you gotta use jQuery yeah or call that noconflict function (don’t know if doing it this way has an other implementation issues).
In reply to: Ajax areas not working correctlyHave you got any other plugins active other than Buddypress? If you do, try disabling them. I’m wondering if there’s a jquery version conflict somewhere.
This is also not a BuddyPress-related question and you’d have been better of taking it to the WordPress forum and searching for similar topics.
Privacy controls and more information about relationships between members are something that will come in future; the roadmap is worth a read to get the feel for these things.
Of course, things will get done in some order and in some time depending on what Andy Peatling (the only BuddyPress developer) decides to work on, unless someone contributes. A chap called jeffsayre is working on privacy features currently – hopefully that’ll work as well as he’s making it sound
In reply to: Date’s bugWell, is that the case? What version of PHP are you using?
In reply to: Date’s bughttp://uk3.php.net/manual/en/function.date.php, specifically “The valid range of a timestamp is typically from Fri, 13 Dec 1901 20:45:54 GMT to Tue, 19 Jan 2038 03:14:07 GMT. (These are the dates that correspond to the minimum and maximum values for a 32-bit signed integer). However, before PHP 5.1.0 this range was limited from 01-01-1970 to 19-01-2038 on some systems (e.g. Windows).”?
In reply to: BuddyPress can’t see bp-themesWell, yes, that’s the best way for the majority of BuddyPress users, I suspect.
However, you can work around by duplicating the BP Member Theme folder (/bptheme) into /wpcontent/themes. You don’t need to do anything else, but this should populate the list for you allowing you to save the member theme.
Or, if you know what you’re doing, apply the patch to fix this problem to your current release manually – https://trac.buddypress.org/changeset/1601/. If you do not understand PHP I would not recommend you do this, just in case you accidently introduce any errors.
In reply to: BuddyPress plugins and theme not loadingmklcst, this thread has been marked as resolved. This means most people will not read any new replies to it.
Your problem is a known issue and is because you are using BuddyPress 1.0.2 on WPMU 2.8.1. I am under the impression that an interim release of BuddyPress (1.0.3) will be released soon which will improve compatibility with WPMU 2.8.1.
The template files for custom pages as per WordPress only work on the blog(s) on your WPMU site. If you want a custom page or area under the members page – i.e. http://myblog_url/members/y2khjh/something_here – then yes, you do need to create a custom component as the members page is part of BuddyPress.
In reply to: loading templates problemTry taking that $is_single_items check out for debugging.
bb-config.php is the config file for BBPress. If you haven’t installed BBPress, you won’t have a bb-config.php.
In reply to: Help us… Help you…Yay, I got added! How did I miss this?!
In reply to: New Group Extension API (v1.1)In reply to: New upgrade available notice not going away.See 1037.
In reply to: Widget BugsAndy Peatling has said he plans an interim of BuddyPress soon to improve compatibility with WPMU 2.8.1 (via twitter). If this isn’t on the bug tracker, please post it so that he is aware – thanks.
Oh, Jeff, you speedy devil you!
I’m guessing this USED to work before you upgraded to WPMU 2.8.1? As gd-star-rating is a 3rd-party plugin, please contact the developer directly and ask when they plan to upgrade.
In reply to: using ajax in a componentYou’ve got it correct. The action from the js is taken and called with an action prefixed with “wp_ajax_”, just like above.
Check_ajax_referer() checks that a valid nonce was passed with the request – to find out more about nonces, see here.
In reply to: BP seems to mix themesIf you are using WPMU 2.8.1, then this is a known bug. There’s at least one other recent post on this forum, and there’s a ticket been raised for this on the BuddyPress bug tracker.
In reply to: Automatic update failesDon’t use the automatic upgrade. Put the files into place manually. Not ideal but will get around this error.
In reply to: WordPress MU 2.8.1 ReleasedOnly if you’re using it with WPMU 2.8.1. I’ve just finished writing https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/846.
In reply to: WordPress MU 2.8.1 ReleasedShort answer: theme error is complicated. I’m writing up a Trac ticket and will put the link here later.
Workaround: duplicate your /bp-member/* folders into /wp-content/themes/. This will populate the correct info in the drop-down box. Once this issue is fixed, you can remove the duplicates from /wp-content/themes/.
In reply to: Strange problem with group forums….You missed a step. Put this line into your bb-config.php:
$bb->bb_xmlrpc_allow_user_switching = true;In reply to: plugin errorsTalk to your host and ask them where your php.ini file is/should be.
