In reply to: Is bp dying a slow death?
BuddyPress really seems to be slowing down when following its TRAC and I have followed it for more than a year now. The only thing I am seeing are Andys updates on his Twitter-page talking about soccer and his iPad. For my understanding, this is an indication that BP is (slowly) dying.
There are only a few major features which need to be developed in the BP-Core-Code in order to make BuddyPress a proper Social-Networking-software:
– Privacy features
– Properly working Private-Groups (I do have a TRAC-ticket out there regarding this)
– Blog-Posts from the Front-EndAnd most of all: BuddyPress needs to be made much simpler in terms of User-Interface (Navigation & Activity-streams).
Less is More !KISS (Keep It Simple & Stupid)
In reply to: How to make Facebook Style Activity StreamI am looking for such kind of Activity-stream as well. Currently there is too much information within the Activity-stream which is confusing.
Additionally, it is very hard to customize the Layout of the current activity-stream.In reply to: users complainingI do agree with you Peter. The BuddyPress.org website has become so complicated, I am actually very confused when using it. It was much simpler before with the old design. Also I do not understand why Private-Messages have disappeared ? The “Followers” and “Following”-stuff is quite complicated as well and not thought through at all.
Anyway, for my website I am going to strip-out the Forums-component, as both Forums and Activity make it quite confusing for my users.
I am actually quite disappointed of BuddyPress due to the promised but missing features e.g. “Privacy”, “Properly Working Private-Groups” and “Blog-Posts from the Front-End” and am thinking of using another software than BP. Also feedback and information from the Core-developers on the status of implementation of those features is lacking considerably.Once again: KISS (Keep It Simple & Stupid)
you might want to use Groups for your institutional profiles…..
In reply to: Is there a latest forum topic widget?@nuprn1
looks like your Forum-plugin is working nice, but I am also having a huge number of Groups (around 2k), so is there a chance to get this Plugin without the Forum-Index included in the Widget ?
Or is there a chance to activate / deactivate the Forum-Index in the backend ?I am not a programmer so I am not able to fiddle around in any code.
Many thanks,
Erich
In reply to: Users gets logged into the wrong accountplease post a ticket on TRAC:
In reply to: bp 1.2.2.1 new users unable to logincheck if your activation e-mail lands in the SPAM-folder of the recipient.
I am not sure why, but most of the time the e-mail with the activation-key is landing in the SPAM-folder…..In reply to: WP Multi Networkcool John !
That is exactly what I was looking for:
one User-Login over several BP-pages having different domains (not sub-domains).is there a way to make the paging exactly the same as Google has its paging in the footer ?
That would be the best solution.Anyone a code snippet outta ?
Thx a lot !
In reply to: External Group Blogs bug@andy
Just wondering whether this is really a bug and if so, whether this is fixed in the latest release of the Plugin ?Many thanks,
Erichin Safari-browser when using an iPhone, I had the following issue:
clicking on a Group-name (like http://www.domain.com/groups/groupname ), it is loading forever and the page is not loading or showing at all.Did you try accessing your website or testbp.org by using an Apple iPhone and clicking on the Group-name ?
Did anyone experience the same issue when using an iPhone ?Am sure Andy is just hacking his new iPad
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.2 and multilanguageis there any update regarding the Multi-Language-Plugin you are working on ?
In reply to: Welcome Pack has blank text zonesat Private-Messaging it says “send between username and _”
the _ means blankIn reply to: Following / Followers at testbp.orghmmm….. sounds like a killer-app…..aka twitter-killer
In reply to: Following / Followers at testbp.orggreat idea Greg !
I would suggest you post an enhancement-ticket for BP1.3
https://trac.buddypress.org/timeline– Follow a Forum-thread = Subscribe to a specific Forum-thread. Would be cool to have……if it is simple to understand for users.
– Drop in “most followed Forum-Threads” , “most followed Blogs”, “most followed Users” , “most followed Group”, etc.
– This would replace what once has been “most active” , “most popular”.
– Skip the “Favourite” stuff.KISS
In reply to: Upgraded to 1.2.4 and now No Blogs Showing!Your advice worked like a charm !
Thanks a lot !In reply to: Upgraded to 1.2.4 and now No Blogs Showing!seems like BP 1.2.4 was tested with testbp.org only, which unfortunately is not running on WPMU anymore…..would be better to have a testbp.org with Single-WP and another test-website with a WPMU-install.
This would also help developers to compare their own WPMU-BP-website against a default WPMU-BP-install (like testbp.org but with WPMU).
In reply to: Buddypress 1.2.3 to 1.2.4 ugrade FAIL!In reply to: Buddypress 1.2.3 to 1.2.4 ugrade FAIL!is BP 1.2.4 already released ?
…… as there is still one ticket open in TRAC:In reply to: private mail at buddypress.org ?the old website of bp.org was much easier to navigate and find information.
at least for myself…..In reply to: Inbox Sidebar Widget ?enhancement for BP1.3 TRAC-ticket:
In reply to: Inbox Sidebar Widget ?hmmm… I am still interested in how to put the e-mail-message-INBOX into the SideBar.
Any clue how Andy had made this at buddypress.org ?This is a very user-friendly feature which should be available as Widget in Core-Code.
In reply to: when release of BP 1.2.4LOL @mercime
no, this is not about CSS-changes, etc.
Try having 1000 groups and then the numbering will not be handy anymore……this Plugin looks like a great improvement to the current page-navigation.
I do have around 2000 Groups and the navigation through the pages is quite difficult with the paging as we have at BP-Standard……Not sure this plugin works with BP, but I would suggest @andy to improve on this.
