Technically you’re on the wrong forum, you have no instance of BuddyPress running only bbPress and they are two different plugins.

You might try any of the Title tag plugins out there such as Yoast WP SEO also look at how your theme is handling the title tag in the header and search the WP codex for any guides on filtering the WP title tag to modify the title strings.

Look for properties like clear: left; or clear: both; or maybe one of those elements which should be floated isn’t, if floated has something given width: 100%, or margins greater than the overall space can accommodate.

Have you got these errors though with a standard WP theme and no additional plugins running? This is most likely an issue between theme or a plugin interacting with how BP performs and causing the issue/s; we could look and probably find some work around for the padding issue however the other issue is a problem with the @mentions interface and your SC is showing or displaying in the textarea an element attribute which shouldn’t display, why it is can only be guessed at at this stage – if this issue occurred when running one of the WP themes without any other plugins activated we could look further on the basis that it were a bug with BP, but I don’t think I can replicate this on any of my installs.

@svend-rugaard While it’s great of Henry to try and see what the issue is, please bear in mind there is a limit to the extent of help we can offer on what is a themeing issue with a third party theme and to some extent lies more with the theme to perhaps help out with.

I don’t see where you modified width and height but if you mean the elements in the li items were dropping through the bottom then really BP should be stating ‘overflow: hidden; on the li element not ‘auto’

To over rule that (the BP rules) you would need something like:
    #buddypress ul.list-item li { overflow: hidden; }

Come on guys, please throw us a few crumbs here, this is so frustrating.

First crumb, this is an open source volunteer driven app, all aspects such as the codex get worked on with what ever free time is available.
Second crumb, Being community driven means that the project moves at a pace that is dictated by that community and all have the ability to create, edit the codex and help the documentation grow.

Probably a little before your time but last year a lot of time and effort was put into the codex, this, though, is an ongoing process and we do not say it’s by any means finished or hasn’t heaps of room for improvement and we welcome all contributions to improve it.

@rosyteddy, you do keep saying BP is free, and imply or state “so nothing will change”, actually look at the amount of development that is carried out in the core development teams free time, frankly it’s phenomenal, BP improves at an incredible pace. Some functionality may rightly be never forthcoming, WP is an app that relies a lot on plugins to extend functionality, BP is the same if you want this type of extended functionality beyond a basic level then it will probably always be thirdparty provided.

And you’re right there likely will be a comment like core getting too heavy, all this type of added functionality has to be maintained, it adds to the development burden in needing supporting, core needs to do the basics in as solid a manner as possible with additional functionality added in a carefully thought out process, like the member type api or attachments api.

@ripozzo The best approach is to get as familiar with BP as possible, running local development installs of BP that you can play around with, reading the current codex guides, then helping out on the forum answering any questions you can. Answering forum questions is a great way to get really familiar with BP as it gets you rooting around in BP seeing what the solutions might be.

When you feel you’re ready to add documentation or see a need and benefit to edit/update existing codex articles drop am @mention to myself @hnla or mercime @mercime and we’ll happily set you up with access on the codex.

We have started to include pages in the codex that reference any changes to the template files for a given release, as said though the templates seldom do change but when they do we’ll attempt to highlight those changes and to dhow what code changes might need to be effected.

Try adding it to your functions.php file in your theme or child theme, if that doesn’t work or still not 100% sure check with the themes support who’ll be best placed to advise.

Closing this thread as the question is being answered on a similar question by the OP:

    Haven’t a clue, what’s wpzonbuilder?

I have update the thread title to something a little more descriptive of the issue, than ‘problem after updating’

I do not see confirmation of the results when switching to a WP theme like twentyfifteen or disabling of plugins, we do need requests like those followed please so we can begin to narrow down where the issue lies.

That’s bbPress not BuddyPress, different plugins, different templates.

iirc you need to look in bbpress/templates/default/bbpress

But asking on the appropriate forum will probably get better results.

Can you first check the codex for guides, we provide the sort of information your asking for there.

That codex page had been edited at some point and the api example removed, checking it proved not to be worthwhile pulling up a revision copy though so page is suspended for review, sorry about that.

For the moment this page exists but will too be in need of review:

bp-themes isn’t any longer a part of the BP core package, try and reference everything from bp-legacy which are actually the theme compatibility templates used by BP.

The function works in a similar fashion to the WP menu in terms of how the items are built, fundamental difference from the existing approach is that the sub-menus are actually proper ul ul child elements nested.

    > Can you confirm that means that all users can still post comments in all group threads,

And how did your tests turn out? Really it’s a question best answered by testing the outcome on a development or staging server, but yes this process will leave only groups activity posting working.

You need to edit the files where the whats new post form is called so yes two files for the main activity directory page and the members activity index, then your single groups activity stays as is.

You could perhaps have a look at replacing the current default nav for this BP WP style nav, haven’t looked at this for a while but should still function:

    Members Navigation Menus

    >BUT the time stamp does this

Exactly! So the issue is not that it doesn’t link to but that it could link to better! If the read more link doesn’t link to the comment maybe that could be raised as an issue to be addressed.

    @hnla

    Participant

@clivoo I may not have followed the issue correctly but comments made in a post get synced to activity stream, they get placed as a comment under the the activity entry for that post and the activity entry for that comment does link directly to the post comment using the page anchor principle /#comment-one

You need to do some debugging.
You do not explain if you’re using custom BP templates, if not then there’s no point looking for errors in the template files as we would have spotted them by now.

If you’re missing sidebars then it’s more than likely a fatal error being thrown by some plugin or piece of custom code.

Turn on wp_debug in your wp-config.php so you can see error messages displayed to clue you in to the offending plugin or piece of code, although you should have tried disabling all plugins really to see if it can be pinned down to one of them.

You need to provide more information such as theme in use, plugins etc.

This is more than likely theme related, using a premium theme that doesn’t play nicely with BP, you can test this by activating one of the WP default themes and seeing if issue persists, if it does disable any plugins not required for a basic WP/BP site.

Why are you not simply using S2 member conditional tags to ensure logged in users can’t perform certain actions around the site like activity updating, accessing groups, posting forum topics, creating posts, you should be able to restrict their activity quite easily until such time as they renew subscription.

Those inline styles are added via JS, you’ll need to overload the BP JS file in the same way you have the CSS and edit the values, they’re near the top of the file.
